Best Western Group of Hotel Chains -- The Pride is one of the best 5 star hotels in Pune with proximity to Shivaji nagar, Hinjewadi, FC Road, Malls, etc. Rooms are very typical with a typical old theme with elegant look. Ambience is good especially in the rooms on 1st floor with a view to swimming pool. Best at Pride is Puran Da Dhaba with live music going on while you have dinner in a typical village theme restaurant with various shops like Mehendi, Pan Shop, Bangle's shop, Astrologer, etc. to give a feel like village. You may request for the song & dedicate it to your loving one... Food is very good & service is prompt.

I came here on my way to Mahalabeshwar from Mumbai. The person I asked to make my reservation at my employer told me there was nothing available due to the Diwali busy season. I checked with my AAA reservationist in the USA and they found the Pride Hotel. I decided to go check it out. I am so happy I did. I was immediately met by a friendly bellman and guard. I was then met by an equally friendly receptionist who checked me in promptly. I was immediately impressed by the beautiful and clean lobby. When I arri.ved at my room, I was greeted by a well appointed room. I was so happy that I decided to stay here...on my first trip to India

The Pride at Pune is the pride of Pune. I have always enjoyed staying there during my business trips.

The hotel exudes a cool confidence and well oiled machinery and still radiates enough warmth for a guest to feel like a guest. The fact that is is located at a place which is now the in-place at Pune and has very well connectivity to any place in the city makes it even more ideal.

The food, ambience, comfort of the rooms, the approach of the staff, all makes it a relaxing and destressing place to stay in.

Hi,
I was on a short single day business trip which is near to my work place. so i decided to go with this peoperty.
intially i have booked the basic category room. When i checked in the room i find it littel too small for a 5 star comfort. so i requrested them to upgrade my room which was far far better with gud space & glass bathroom.
The Buffet breakfast was not as impressive but its descent. But strangely i found bunch of very little mosquitoes flying over few vessels.
The airport pick/drop was timely.
The Lobby i feel is too small for a 5 star property.
overall if u hav work in nearby areas then go for it otherwise in my case i will try other property next time i m in pune.

I stayed with three of my colleagues, including one of them from our UK office. Overall it was a very good stay, good services provided by the front desk / reception be it requests or arrangement for cabs. As regards food, we only had breakfast and the buffet spread was good as well. The staff also organised a lot of things we wanted just by our calls when we outside, so that's great service.

What must improve is the travel desk. Was hopeless, when we booked a car to pick us up from a location, the car came after an hour when it would take not more than 15 minutes. What was annoying was the travek desk person kept saying the car had left, which was a lie. We would've appreciated if it was honestly told that it would take half an hour for cab to come, at worse we may have hired a cab or other means to reach hotel. It was crucial because we had to leave to the airport after that. However this disappointment was overcome by the good service of the staff at the reception.

The rooms ought to be a bit more neater, maybe the carpet which looks a lot old. Food could be a bit more economical keeping in mind the cost vs taste vs value.

We would like to are already planning to include this hotel in the list of accepted hotels for our company executives. We hope to frequent this hotel chain, hoping that we would get similar services from all other locations.

Cheers,
MS

I stayed in this hotel for a full fortnight and a liked both stay and the food. Breakfast, in fact, has a good choice for persons with different backgrounds. Hotel, as expected, is very well maintained. As far car parking, space is limited since the hotel is centrally located in an otherwise busy area. There is good restaurant called " ......Puran Dhabha" serving mainly North indian / Punjabi food with live music band.

I have stayed at this once a year for the last 3 years. Overall I am pleased. I live in the US, originally from Pune, and travel extensively for pleasure. Although this hotel is connected to the Best Western chain, it is not like a 2-3* like in US but of much better variety, close to 3.5 to 4*s.

The staff is great. We got personalized service, the staff is always smiling, willing to help and make you feel welcome and at home. In particular, I mention Mr. Sasidharan Nair, Mr. Atul Upadhyay the manager, and really everyone form the doorman to the bartender.

The hotel looks modern and is clean. The elevator is small but functional. We liked the rooms on the 4th floor, the ones on the 2 and 3rd floor are not as good. The rooms are of adequate size if not large, bathrooms are good and well stocked. In general they are satisfactory to a Western traveler. There is a minibar and coffeemaker.

There are two excellent restaurants and a bar. The main restaurant is open 24 hours with 24 hours room service. Good as they are, they are pricey, more so than the Marriott and Hyatt in Pune. The buffet breakfast was included, it was very good, plentiful, high quality, both American and Indian. There is a spa. which is OKish, the swimming pool was closed for the winter. The hotel is , like all the good hotels in Pune, pricey. On the whole, in India, if you want to stay lie you do in the West, it will cost you as much. But a clean, hygienic, 4* is worth the money to us. In general, the American 4* are better, perhaps because they are more familiar to the American eye, but a little pricier.

Because I have family and friends in Pune, the location was perfect for me. It is midway between the camp area and the Deccan Gymkhana, two landmarks in the city. Every traveler has to have a car (the hotel will find one for you). Still the traffic in this polluted, congested city is awful and punishing. So location is important. If you are going on business, ask the business the hotel which is convenient.

On the whole, we were satisfied and likely return here.

Pride Best Western was such a mixed package.
Entry, courtesy extended on arrival was real quality and pleasing.
But the moment you enter the rooms it all vanishes. The room is not nicely spread, properly euipped. If you are a TV buff, forget this hotel. TVs simply donot work properly. Particularly with worldcup going on, it was a big letdown. Foregt using the bath tubs, they are messy & in nbad condition, so ar the fittings.
But you forget everything once yopu enter the restaurants. "Puran Da Dhaba" is simply great. May be one of the best in terms of offer of quality food and courteous service. Spend more time here than in your room, you will feel better. Even the Cassablaca was also exteremely good. Spread was quality, service was also very good.
If you are on business and donot mind in-room facilities much and also is a foodie, this the place to stay. Service is also extremely good.

I stayed here three months on a study abroad program, so I have a rather wide range of experiences at this hotel.

For the most part, the staff was really polite. There were staff members whom I loved, particularly a couple of the chefs, the housekeepers, and the security guards outside. If you need some kind of service (something from the front desk, help with something), the staff were pretty quick about it. I found a couple of the front desk staff to be very helpful and amiable, but quite a few of them were sometimes indifferent or just plain unhelpful. A couple of them were often slow as well. So I had a couple bad experiences with the front desk, but those weren't big deals when I consider my whole time there. Isolated incidents.

I never once found my room to be dirty. They cleaned it everyday, and they cleaned it well. And a previous poster's comment about finding hair in his/her bed was pretty shocking to me. My sheets were ALWAYS clean.

The downstairs restaurants are okay. I guess it depends on what you order. The outside one is very good. There are also plenty of restaurants on FC Road or JM Road. You can go by rickshaw or just walk 10-20 minutes.

I never felt unsafe in the area, but I could see why someone staying there a couple days might. The immediate area is a bit isolated. (Rickshaw to more touristy areas takes about 20 minutes and is cheap.) And security for the hotel is tight.

Try to avoid a room near the outside restaurant. (Maybe ask to see your room first.) The music from the restaurant gets kind of loud.

I think that there are better hotels in Pune. Some better located or nicer in general. But if this hotel meets your budget or some other important criterion, I would certainly recommend it.

Breakfast was nothing great. The common restrooms on the ground floor were like those at a railway station. Absolutely dirty. Unless the location is of paramount importance, I would not recommend.

The Pride Hotel in Pune is a Hotel that is located on the University Road, Just beside the Rahul Cinema theatre. Being an old hotel (formerly owned by the state run ITDC), it boasts of a great location, central to all parts of Pune.

Being state run at one time it was pretty run down, till a new management took over. I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions over the past two and half years, the most recent being on January 2011.

The first thing that strikes one about the hotel is that it is rather cramped and has no space to talk of. The parking lot is along the entranceway and is perpetually full. Sometimes when you drive in you need to wait to get to the main gate just so that the backlog of cars ahead of you clears. Having said that, once you are inside the check in is prompt and generally courteous (though not necessarily friendly; this can actually be a boon sometimes when you are in no mood to be friendly with staff and talk of inane things like how the flight was or the weather!)

There are two kinds of rooms in the Pride (at least the ones that I have stayed in). One type are the old rooms and the other, (4th floor only, at least till the time I last stayed) the newly renovated rooms. The older rooms are, as expected, a bit shabby on the maintenance front. Ill fitting curtains, doors to the bathrooms not locking properly, bathtubs not filling due to leaks in the plumbing etc. however, they have all the trappings of a five star hotel room (A/c, TV, minibar, complementary tea/coffee maker, ironing board with iron, hair dryer etc) however, as I said everything is a bit shabby. The new rooms however are smartly done, especially the bathrooms. There is a glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom, (which thankfully has venetian blinds in case you are sharing the room), giving a more modern and ‘light’ feeling in the small room. The taps, faucets etc. work well. The only complaint I had with the room was the a/c not working well.

The general service quality is decent, though not totally professional (especially at the breakfast table, where your order for tea or coffee may be forgotten due to influx of guests). There is a bar also (that does not serve much food, but has a great grilled non veg platter). It also has some eye candy in the form of two skimpily clad oriental girls crooning to western music. (there is actually, I noticed later, live music in all the dining areas, of differing tastes though). The hotel surprisingly has all the facilities that a fice star should like swimming pool, gymnasium (though one look at the limited equipment and the location in the basement is enough to put you off). They also have a TT table in front of the gym with little space for the player to move (especially for the one towards the wall.

On the whole, it can be said that staying at the pride is useful only from a location perspective and if that is not met, don’t bother with it. I for one stay mostly at the Hyatt now (since it opened) the rates, at least quoted to me are the same per night and locationally for me, the Hyatt is better. Even if your business is on the main CBD like MG Road or Dhole Patil Road, you would be better off taking some of the newer hotels on Nagar Road.

Unresponsive staff coupled with below average food & high cost makes this least preferred choice of hotel. I am sure you'll have better options. A/C was not working and repeated complaints did not help either. Absoluttely no choice when it comes to room service and also the breakfast spread. With so many foreigners sighted, they'll be taking with them bad taste in their mouth as regards the quality and taste of Indian food.

Definitely not five star. Room was small - 8inches gap between bed and wall to get to coffee tea maker. Electric kettle element had rusted; light switch next to it was broken. Not adressed even after being pointed out. Airconditioning was ineffective. Booked through a web travel portal and could not get a copy of invoice for the room - was asked to get an invoice from the web portal The only redeeming feature was that the front office agreed to a late check out at 4 pm

Food was good (but not great) but it was really too much delay in serving the food (may be because of rush) but it is not expected from such kind of reputed hotel.

We stayed as a part of group at the Best Western Pride for three nights. the rooms are functionally good. Though there is no wifi. A must requirement for a business traveller. The food at the Indian Restaurant was decent. However the fitness centre needs a redo. Musty Smell and less machines. Swimming Pool was functional but they did not allow us to swim at night. Close to Rahul Cinema in Shivaji Nagar it is away from MG Road the CBD of Pune.

I was on a business trip to Pune and booked this hotel as it was only hotel near my office and also assuming the Best Western name. The hotel seemes to be quite expensive for the overall experiance I had. However, got to know that it was a local hotel which was just acquired by Best Western sometime ago.

On my entry to the hotel I had to wait almost 30 mins to get to the room. The hotel inclusions were not provided and had to ask for it each time. The fruit tray and water were were not replenished during my 5 day stay in the hotel.

The good part about hotel is its location it iscentrally located and very near to markets, cinema and supermarket. The food was nice and the buffet breakfast very filling. Hotel property is very old and hence, lacking modern room amentites.

Overall I felt that there was nothing like a 5 star hotel which made it very expensive proposition

the rooms are comfortable compared to the budget!
The hotel is located in the heart of Pune city making travelling around the city very convienient.!!
The best thing was I had left a gold ring of around Rs 10000 while staying here and the hotel staff returned it to me on seeing it.I rewarded them immediately!
The quality of food is not that good. I would sugest one dines at Pune Cafe and must try the Pav bhajji at rajendras!!

Best Western Pride Hotel Pune is an average hotel. But for the price it charges, its a bad value for money proposition which turns it into a below average hotel. I had a forgetful stay in this hotel and after the trip, asked my travel desk to never book me in this hotel again. The rooms were small and i got the feeling of being perennially cramped. The food was ok but the room service was nothing to write home about. On top of this, the internet connection in my room conked off which was a major discomfort. The hotel staff took an hour to fix it and i was tearing my hair apart by the end of it. To be fair, the hotel isn't all bad and my internet problem could have been a one off case. But there were no major delighters which would make me recommend this hotel to anyone else

The hotel rooms are lousy, needs immediate repair, and modernisation. The lobby is shabby, even the neon signs have not been well-maintained.

Do not make the mistake of staying at this hotel when in Pune. The place is far away from the airport too.

The staff were very nice and the main restaurant was pretty good, however, my room was just okay cleanliness-wise and had a severe musty smell (probably due to the carpet ,which is not present in a lot of other hotels I have stayed at in Pune). Noise also drifts up from the lobby. This place is fairly expensive and there are better options for the same price.

My first visit to India, and having read the reviews of this Hotel, I certainly would not have chosen to stay at the Pride.
However, as others have commented, to stay at one of the three "western standard hotels" in Pune, it is necessary to book at least 6 weeks ahead of arrival.
The dates for my trip were "fluid" and only confirmed a week in advance. At this point, The Pride was the best available, according to the company that I was to visit and who were responsible for booking my accommodation.
On arrival, the first thing I noticed was that the foyer had no evidence of stained carpets or building work, in all honesty, it made a reasonable impression, but not 5 star.
My room on the 5th floor again gave a similar impression on first viewing, but once the opportunity was available to inspect more closely, some aspects could be seen to be less well presented .
Specifically, the electrical wiring/fittings need an overhaul. I was told that this in the hotel's refurbishment plan, but I didn't find out when this is was to occur. Visitors to this region will have noticed that nothing seems to ever get finished properly, so my guess is that this will not happen soon.
There were 3 power outages during my stay, but I don't know if these were specific to the Pride or more general.
The room was clean on arrival, but was not thoroughly cleaned each day.
The bed was firm, but I found it comfortable; the bed linen was changed each day.
The bathroom was the least attractive feature, the bath itself being ready for replacement. Strangely it felt almost as if the plastic moulding had been cast in situ. Unlike some hotel bathrooms, regardless of standard or location, the shower curtain was not mouldy even though it did not appear to have been a recent replacement. The used towels were changed daily.
The hotel has 3 restaurants, I only sampled the main one (not the brasserie or the terrace). The menu has "international" dishes as well as Indian food, with a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The restaurant serves alcohol. The prices are very reasonable by UK standards, although probably not so reasonable to travellers from other parts of the world.
Breakfast provides a selection of fruit, cereals, juices cakes and Indian dishes. There are also some interesting interpretations of dishes that English visitors might consider they are familiar with.
Staff - some are "over eager" to please, but for the most part they are friendly and helpful.
The hotel has a swimming pool at the front adjacent to the main road. I didn't feel confident enough of the water filtration to use it.
The location convenience - depends why you are visiting Pune and where you need to be. There is a major road outside, but traffic noise was not a really a problem. Note: Pune doesn't have taxis - you either take a Tuk Tuk or hire a car and driver, by the hour.
I agree that this is not a 5 star hotel, but this is not the only country in the world with "local standards" for categorising hotels. In my view, as a traveller one must be prepared for this and judge the accommodation in the context of what you see around you. Perhaps what is not acceptable is to charge a rate which is not far short of that of the 3 hotels which are more aligned to the western expectations of a 5 star categorisation.
Overall, I had no problems during my stay with the staff, the room or my personal comfort; the accommodation was better than I expected. (My colleague did experience the smell of diesel, reported by other visitors, in his room on the 3rd floor)
I have stayed in less impressive Best Western Hotels, both in the UK and elsewhere. These didn't claim 5 stars only 3; the Pride was better than these establishments.

I stayed in this hotel in June 2005.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful.

I must admit I expected more from this hotel since it was recommended highly.

The rooms were nice, but had an old and tired feel about them. The TV had no "real" channels availible outside the standard Indian television.

The food at the hotel was good and the waitstaff pleasant.

I was surprised that the hotel did not have a Internet connection except for the one in the business center.

The hotel is not in a good loaction to go outside except via cab or limo. The surrounding area is very poor and safety outside the hotel was a concern of mine.

I may stay there again but I would look at other options as well.

Our room was 'ok', but very old fashioned and a bit grimy (dirty walls, old carpet) Definately not what you would expect in this price range. Breakfast was very bad. All bowls were covered with plastic foil, didn't look attractive either. Dosa and tea were ok. Location is far outside the Centre/ Koregaon), at least half an our traveling by autorishaw (very difficult to arrange a taxi).

I stayed in this hotel due to my meeting. Very costly hotel seeing to the facilities available. Rooms look like the antique piece with everthing looking dated long back. Maintainance of rooms is poor. Hygeine was bad. The staff very in non co-operative. Service very poor. They say its a five star hotel but I will say its a first 5 star hotel I saw who gives Parle-G biscuits with Tea during conference. On asking for sugar free they will bring you one local Pune made sugar free satchet.
Internet is chargeable and I don't know why. Today even small hotels give it complimentary. Complimentary Pick up / drop from /to Airport can be availed only one side i.e either pick-up or drop that too at the hotel's discretion of time. There are time slots when it is available otherwise make your own arrangement.
The staff is so cold & frozen. The eating restaurant casablanca is so poor & traditional food in "Puran da dhaba" is not reliable. I got my stomach upset after eating there.
Overall not a worth place to stay.

I had read other reviews before staying here and tried to organised alternative accommodation because I think $USD200 a night for a hotel in India is extravagant. Unfortunately, being a business trip, the booking was out of my control. I only stayed here for two nights, but it really wasn't worth $200. The room was very small and the bathroom tiny. I briefly flicked through the TV stations and couldn't find anything in english. The room was really noisy too. It's a multi-storey hotel with the rooms built up in a horse-shoe shape around the lobby - ie so if you walk outside your room, you can peer over the rail into the lobby. This meant that even the slightest noise in the lobby and restaurant travelled straight up into your room. There were a few good things about this hotel - the bed was comfortable and the room clean. I also checked out one night early as my travel plans changed, and the staff did not have a problem with this, which was good. There were no travel brochures etc in the room itself, but the hotel had a travel desk in the lobby. The gym is well equipped but closed at 8.30 pm. I ate only one meal here and that was breakfast. The breakfast selection was fair and the food average.

The lobby looks nice and presentable, but the room was not. We paid USD280 for a double room and it looks no more than a USD50 room, despite it being a BEST WESTERN. There was a foul smell emitting from the fridge as the hotel staff did not clear the leftover food from the previous guest.

Also, we had a bacteria infection from dining at the cafe in the hotel. Am sure it's the hotel coz there was a group of 6 of us, and the 3 who had stomach problems were the ones who ate breakfast at the cafe. But this shouldn't be one major point to judge the hotel coz you are susceptible to such stomach problems all over India.

Definitely not worth the USD280 for this room!

Where do I start ... the staff is attentive and try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The lobby restaurant has both local and international cuisine. I stayed here for 10 days and was kept awake every night by the loud music being played at the terrace restaurant, which was outside my window. Nice for dining, horrible for sleeping. My room, which I was told is one of the best in the hotel, is extremely run down, and in dire need of some TLC. Mirrors were never cleaned during my stay. Walls that were dirty upon my arrival stayed that way. 2 light bulbs burned out and were never replaced. The toilet did not flush properly. Floors only swept where noticeable dirt exists. No power strip to plug in mobile phone charger, computer, camera charger, etc. It took 3 calls to have one brought to my room. I do not recommend this hotel at the current rating and rates.

When I booked this hotel via net agent they did not say it was undergoing a major lobby refit, not very good if you want to invite clients.
This was an alternative to the one I wanted but proposed as an equivalent or superior, oh no I don't think so.
The people try hard but it does not make up for the bathroom having the signs of grout mould, and in the main wash basin area the grout has pink staining on where it has tried to have been whitened. Best westerns seem generally a bit shabby these days, this was par for the course. I would be very careful of the star ratings in India and would not entertain any thing less than 5 star, do your homework on these sites and wonder if it is worth using an agent as normally you don't get transfers. If you have to get your own taxi watch out ! The taxi stands at Pune offers fixed price 200 rupees to the city, which is good, but if you want a decent car its more, and if you want the AC on its more, so it grows to 500 rupees. I also took a taxi from Orchid hotel in Bombay to International airport, concierge confirmed 100 rupees, I got in and when we turned the corner the driver got out and switched with another guy, when we got to the airport the price was suddenly 500 rupees. The car was one of those yellow and black jobby's, tyres as smooth as Yul Bryners head ! Doors didn't shut properly and everything rattled as if it was going to disintegrate. Also i now know where mercedes got the idea to have one windscreen wiper.

Coupled with the smell of diesel in the corridor I found this too much to take. On request I moved to a higher room and this was far better. The food in the hotel is variable and I would not recommend the meat dishes in the main or italian restaurant. The punjabi restaurant was better though naturally the food is spiced to Indian tastes. When I checked in at 6pm, was asked to wait for 15 minutes as my room was being readied !!! Was given a room on the 5th floor, looked like they had built this in the 60's and never renovated it since. The oldest furniture possible, the bathroom was not clean with strands on hair on the floor !!! Overall terrible experience. Terrible value for money, can thing of many many good hotels in Pune for half the price that I paid. When checking out, the receptionist did not even bother to ask me about my stay - probably a good thing.

As I write this I am currently staying at this hotel. It's 2 a.m. and construction continues unabated outside of rooms on both sides of the hotel. Fortunately, the "house band" wrapped up their performance for the night a few hours ago. Note that all of this noise is clearly enough to keep one awake on both the lower an upper floors.

A good night's sleep at this hotel is not possible. There is no mattress pad on the bed. The music and noise are insufferable. The air conditioning, which hits the work area full blast, doesn't approach your sleeping quarters. There is only one non-smoking floor (the 3rd) out of five floors.

I typically avoid Best Westerns. Domestically, they all appear to have been built between 1955 and 1980, look their age, have a below average kitchen, and had a half hearted remodel sometime in the early 1990s. This hotel is no different.

The staff is generally friendly and well intentioned. The shower is decent. The front desk service is prompt, and the laundry does a nice job. You aren't hounded for tips and when you do provide one they are appropriately appreciated.

But any sort of Continental meal here is poorly prepared to the point that you're better off eating out at a pizza place than eating in either restaurant. Fruit is the only edible Continental part of the complimentary breakfast. I understand the Indian food quality is above average, however.

The smoking rooms, if you're a non-smoker, are intolerable to the point of headache inducing. Plasma TVs are nice, but if the television is weak signal cable, seeing a plasma picture with reception lines through it renders them useless.

I have a personal issue with any housekeeping staff that starts it's job prior to 9 a.m., so when the vacuum cleaner starts in the hall, awakening me at 8 a.m., it's a personal demerit.

The internet connection during prime time (8pm-11pm) is dial up quality, to the point that it isn't practical to use the internet during these hours. Did I mention there is no wi-fi and internet is not free? You're paying for a bad connection.

This hotel has clearly lost it's way. If it's location isn't convenient for you, avoid it if at all possible. There are several alternatives at the same price point in Pune. Take one.

The carpet at the loby need to change, it is smelly. And the staffs need to be educated to speak with responsibility when they talk with their customers, speak english alone is no more enough. If you ask something about their city or around they replies to you almost without knowledge. If you book something, other staff who replaced next day, will not know about that and etc.

I will never book this hotel in Pune again.

I accept that business travel is often like roulette. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. This trip the bank definitely won!

The hotel is *extremely* dated; I'm guessing by the style of furnishing - lots of bleached wood, tinted mirrors and black marble that the the last time it saw any kind of attention was around 1983. The public areas are tatty, and I have to say not particulalry clean - the large stain in the middle of the carpet that greets you in the area being used as reception kind of tells you everything you need to know before you see the rest of the hotel.

I was shown one room, which I declined to because the chemical cleaning smell inside it was completely overpowering, and am now in another room - which I can breathe in, although it transpires this is next to the rooms they're renovating...

A lot of the hotel is currently closed - a rather depressing "italienne" [sic] restaurant by the pool which serves moderate food - day 3 and (touch wood) I haven't been ill yet - where the desperate and the huddled (like myself) congregate in the evening. The staff are kind and gentle but not particluarly efficient.

I'm no snob - I went backpacking in India earlier this year and stayed in budget places of a similar standard; the difference was I only paid $30 a night to stay there, which is pretty much what this hotel should be charging - not the $130 my company is paying.

Clearly the company is trying to do something about the hotel, perhaps in the future it will be worth using again - if you're thinking of staying I'd certainly recommend you ask how far they are with the renovation project. I've learned my lesson now, I'll make sure I book early and stay at either The Taj, or le Meridien - my best advice for the time being would be for you to do the same.

Well where do I start!! The lost our booking at reception and we did not get the room we booked. We had booked the presidential suite but ended up in another suite right next to the workmens enterance to the renevations.
When we booked a fortnight before we were not told of the renovations. We were woken early in the morning by hammering and banning, sleep during the day was a no no also.
The 'Italian' restraunt downstairs was very shabby and breakfast served there was dubious. But the Great Wall Chinese restraunt was excelent, good value for money and the waiting staff were superb.
The room we stayed in was less than clean, bathroom showed signs of mould and had a smell of public toilets, not what I expect of a 5* hotel.
All in all I would not willing choose to stay there again!

I upgraded a room and agree with the other review that the rooms are a bit jaded. However what made me check out immediately were the hairs in the bed that had supposedly been made. There was no way that I was staying there even though they charged me one nights stay. Luckily I managed to get a room in another hotel which was clean and much more acceptable.
