Its a Great Hotel.

The rooms are very beautifully done, the beds are comfy .

Hotel offers a lot - they have a night club , a bar, a Live Music Ballroom, 2 restaurants, SPA, Swimming Pool and a Gym.

The overall hotel ambiance is good.

Stayed for a week with my partner at the 4 star Peninsula in October 2010.
It certainly deserves its 4 star rating with friendly helpful staff, a choice of restaurants from formal dinning to buffet style, buffet style breakfats with extensive choice for all palettes from all over the world. You can have a choice of curry for breakfast if you wish.
The rooms were large with air con, well stocked fridge, sattelite televison with numerous english channels and large bathroom. We were on the 10th floor with views of the city.
The hotel has very high standards of cleanliness and all staff we encountered could not be more helpful.
As we were travelling throughout Chittagong and surrounding area the hotel supplied us with a driver and vehilce for the week at a very reasonable cost.
The driver was excellent with good local knowledge and definitly added to our enjoyment and appreciation of our holiday.
I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

I'm writing this from my room in the Peninsular Hotel. I have stayed here a few times and have always found it comfortable, clean and the staff very helpful. No doubt it is the best in Chittagong and one of the best places in the country. The restaurants are good, usually providing a buffet with good selection. Internet in the rooms is also fast. The only thing I can say against it is the price - it is not cheap. For example, Internet costs Tk1000 per day.

All in all, #1 choice for a hotel in Chittagong.

Light years ahead of the ancient Agrabad hotel.

Staff was very courteous and helpful.

Also, The shoestring french fries on the 4th floor were super crispy and delicious. Cold, tall boy Heineken's were also a welcome surprise!

I'll be back!

Been staying at this hotel for many years now. Bangladesh hotels are known to deteriorate quite quickly, but this hotel has maintained it's standards since it opened. Staff is incredible and speak English very well. The rooms are bare boned but quite comfortable except for the pillows.

Rooms are clean and well maintained. Location is idea because it's in the heart of the city. For what I paid and for what I got this is an excellent place. I wouldn't dare try anywhere else in this city of really poor places to stay.

It's a good business hotel. Nice big clean room. Roof top swiming pool and health centre. Nice spa. Good dinning facility. I liked the hotel overall for it's service.

I have not stayed in other hotels in Chittagong, but as hotels go in far away non-tourist destination cities, this one is pretty good. Front desk staff was friendly, room was clean and fairly quiet...the night club was dead and the breakfast room was dark and rather depressing...but overall, I'd stay there again before trying something else. Paid about $115 USD/night ++.

I agree entirely with the last review. This hotel is aimed at foreign business travellers, and really seems to have got it right.

We arranged pick-up from the airport, and despite the plane landing on schedule, the driver was waiting for us. Time is a very fluid concept in Bangladesh, and neither of the former could be taken for granted. The car was comfortable and in good condition. It also had seatbelts, which was an added bonus.
We used the hotel chauffeured car for our various excursions and would definitely do so again. Not only were their rates competitive; the drivers provided were polite and drove safely - I did not fear for my life as I normally do on the roads to the village.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, air-conditioned and quiet.

The Flamingo restaurant is a multi-cuisine buffet. The food was only lukewarm; you can microwave it, but we did not like the idea of lukewarm food sitting around for hours, so would recommend the Laguna restaurant, which is a la carte. There are menus for Chinese, Thai, Korean and European food. We were very impressed - it was excellent.

The rooftop pool is small, but still nice to use, and there are loungers to sunbathe if you wish to. The gym is quite well equipped, (although the cross-trainer and stepper were not working properly).

The hotel staff all speak English, most of them quite well, and they were very eager to know if anything could be improved.

We will definitely stay there again the next time we go to Chittagong.

Location is ideal, as business houses are located closeby. Also, tourist attractions are not very far.
Rooms are clean although not luxurious. The hotel seems quite old, hence you will find marks on the walls, bedsheets etc.
Sleep quality was very good. Staff was hospitable. No complaints whatsoever.
The restaurant Laguna, provides Indian, Chinese and Thai food, which is delicious. The food is authentic as per the respective countries. Being an Indian, I had certain specifications for the Indian food that I ordered, which was very well met by the chef.
Grabbing a drink at the Isles bar after a hard day's work.
Apparently this is chosen hotel for international cricketers when on tour.
Highly recommended.

OK hotel - I would equate it to an old Hilton in the US. Friendly staff. Room was clean and breakfast buffet was acceptable. The only significant issue that I had was the fitness center didn't open until 8AM - definitely not user-friendly for many business travelers.

Small but clean & cheap hotel. Location is really good as It's on main road & close to airport. Best part of this hotel was it's pleasent look. The food was decent ( I am strict vegetarian) Staff was friendly and attampted to go beyond.

Although this was one place which serve alcohole, the crowd was decent & one can find comfortable bringing their family along if needed.

Breakfast although complementory was not sufficient & remains key area for improvemet.

The Peninsula Chiitagong is the best business hotel in town. The managing director is hands on and operates a well run establishment. The rating is average comparable to world standards, but keep in mind that Bangladesh is a developing nation. This country is not for the faint of heart or for those who require the royal treatment.

Despite that, the Peninsula is a refreshing refuge after a long day's work in town. The staff is extraordinarily helpful, the hotel is clean and the food can be eaten with no worries. It has a back up generator that kicks in within seconds when the local power grid occasionaly goes down. They have good free cable TV and internet access for a fee. There's a small gym and roof top pool.

There's not much to do here, so keep your business trip short. Although the Pensinsula does serve alcohol, I suggest you bring your own bottle. This is a Muslim Nation and alcohol is at a premium.

We were expecting quality for the price we were paying. Given that Bangladesh is not exactly one of the most expensive countries in the world, we took it for granted that a hotel that was charging this much money would be super-luxurious. What a shock we were in for from the moment we set eyes on this place!

On arrival, we were astounded by the getup of the hotel. There was no proper entrance and the lift lobby from where you take a lift to the reception area was shared with Standard Chartered Bank and some other businesses. People of all description were hanging about staring at guests as they waited to take the lift up to the hotel. If you are an Asian woman in trousers and a blouse, expect a little band of spectators to gather around you.

Throughout the hotel, the decor was cheap. Half-dead plants in brown plastic pots on plastic saucers that lined foyers and poorly executed etchings on glass were among the first things we noticed when we entered this hotel. The room was very unglamorous and the bathroom had never seen a bottle of bleach. Staff were friendly and exceptionally nice, but, unfortunately, not the most efficient. Dirt and limescale rings at the base of tubs and washbasins clearly do not bother the cleaners here and, given the general standard of the hotel, I doubt they even notice them. On one occasion, my husband had a 'Do not disturb' sign up until about 11 am, with the result that the room was not cleaned all day. When we came back at about 6 pm, we had to call in staff to have the room cleaned and the beds made.

We opted for a buffet the first night we were there. We would have liked Bengali food, but, instead, got a Bangladeshi version of north Indian food, which was an absolute disaster. We could not believe that at breakfast, the fruit juice dispensers were filled with Tang. One said 'orange juice (Tang)' and the other, 'mango juice (Tang)'! Being served two flavours of Tang for breakfast was certainly a rather unique experience. The rest of the breakfast lived up to the standard we expected after dinner the previous evening. The chefs were so clueless that they did not even know how to slice mushrooms. The hotel was noisy and on one of the nights, there appeared to be a drunken racket going on in the room next to ours.

The key cards were constantly malfunctioning despite being replaced several times, and as a result, the electricity supply kept getting cut off. Internet had to be paid for and was overpriced in keeping with the general trend.

Overall, the place was an absolute rip-off in terms of the amenities and services offered for the money charged (and remember this hotel is in Bangladesh, where most things, including wages, cost a few dollars). I was told that this is the best hotel in Chittagong and while I have no reason to doubt that, I certainly believe international prices are being charged for local standards.

Unfortunately, the "best business hotel in Chittagong" doesnt really give you any scope when comparing to huts and poor hotels.

I came here on a exhibition tour from the UK and unfortunately all bar none were ill with food poisoning as a result of staying here.

Food is basic and meat used in dishes like spaghetti is very questionnable.

Rooms are OK, gym is very poor but pool is nice and on the roof so you can see the (ahem) lovely views.
