Sea Lord hotel is in the heart of the city and very accessable to all. The view from the hotel is fantastic, staff were very cordial and welcomes you and makes you feel at home.
Being on the busy road, you would see the hustle and bustle around you , you can just go accross the road and you have the marine drive where you have various options of taking a boat ride where you can seet ths Cochin shipyard and also the big cruise ship docked out there, real cool to be in this hotel as you can ho skip and jump to any sight seeing place as they are very near to this location

Also you can shop just arounf the hotel , sure you would need to do a lot of bargaining.

If you want to stay back and relax or just would like to have stroll at marine drive; and if you're the person who believes in value for money, then this is one of the best place to stay. Rooms are clean and if you're lucky to get the Marine Drive facing room, you'll get apt light and fresh air. Get cozy with with your family. Rooms are having a attached bathroom, but the problem is only that the commodes are attached with any swish shower/hand shower for cleaning so you've to use the good old method to clean your self (I'd been there 2 years back in Aug-09) so not sure whether they have equipped it with. There's a rooftop restaurant and serves wine and beers too. So that you can enjoy cool breeze with a mug of chilled beer ;-). The complimentary break fast are good. But the omelet they prepare is awesome. The shopping arcade is just 700-800 mts away from the hotel. If requested they will arrange a cab for sight seeing and the great famous and traditional Kathakali dance. Kindly ask the manager or front desk for the same. In a single word this really a great hotel to spend time at week end. It's having good connectivity from Ernakulam North Railway Station and the KSRTC bus station. I'd recommend to others and if get chance I'd again go there.
I'd like to go back again

Hotel Sea Lord, Situated at a walking distance from the sea and yet in a very convenient location in the city. The beautiful Marine drives of the Ernakulam city is at a distance of 10-15 minutes by walk.
The hotel has good overall services including the room service and dining. There is view of Sea from some of the rooms of the hotel and rooms are spacious and well maintained. Lift is available for the elderly and hadicapped. Staff is also very co-operative in nature.
Food quality, though not excellent, is fairly good and one can surely go for it. The hotel is just very good, and really made my holiday better.

Hotel 'SEA LORD' in kochi situated in the mid of city market the hotel provides ample scope for tourists to wander around.
The rooms of the hotel are really awesome giving you the bst view of arabian sea that is just across the road. the interior of the rooms was really very nice. Cleanliness and hygiene were given a real concern.
The hotel staff was friendly and had a cooperative nature. The food of the hotel was really delightful. a wide range of options for the meal was there.
The only negative point was that hotel dosen't look nice from outside but on entering you would feel that your choice is correct.

In city centre, and very close to Marine Drive, it is in the middle of all the shopping. There is also an artifacts shop on the ground level, which was very good. The rooms were plush and comfortable.

Initially was a little concerned when I saw some reviews by other people. However, was plesently surprised to see the hotel.

Good location.. in the heart of the city with easy access to all major places. The rooms are spacious and clean !!

The hotel has a good rooftop restaurant, ideal to spend the evening. The front desk was polite and helped suggest some good locations to spend time around Cochin.

Strongly recommend this place.

I stayed here for 2 nights as the starting point for my Kerala vacation. The location was excellent as the Marine Drive and the Boat Jetty is within 5 minutes walking distance. The famous MG Road for shopping is also close by with autos plying at a very nominal charge.

The standard room I had taken was very spacious, and the bathroom was also neat and clean. The hotel staff was polite and there is a travel desk that arranges tours within the city as well as backwater tours.

Being a vegetarian, I found ample options within the vicinity and the Kerala meal served by the hotel was also good.

In all, a very comfortable stay in an even more comfortable budget!

Stayed here for a day/night. The hotel, is right on a busy street. The location is somewhat good. The rooms were very good and the bathrooms were good. The Central A/C was working nicely and so was the hot water. Customer service was good. Breakfast was also very good. Nice place to stay. Reception Staff to room service staff are very polite and helpful. Will recommend this place for a short break stay.

This hotel is economical and very good. This has a very good location. The lake's view is destorted because of the malls opposite to the hotel but once you cross the road, the lake is very near. We stayed here for a night and it was a good experience. Breakfast was very good in the hotel. The rooms were clean. I loved the AC switch. Its like the old fashioned metal knobs for turning on and off the AC. The market is very near to the hotel and also there is a very good church near the hotel.

We stayed there for a night. check-in was super fast and they have travel table also, which could be helpful. we got a corner room at 4th floor, hence got enough light. The room was neat and clean and bathroom was OK type. Got hot water in the morning. The resturant was not so good and definitely they are running short of stuff. The attitude of the stuff at rsturants arte horrible and they don't think twice before telling lie and don't feel ashame after getting caught the very next moment. If you are staying one night and not spending much time at hotel this is best value for money. AC is centrally controlled and switch does not work.

We had visited kerela last year (2010) for an extensive 10N/11D package. Since we had nothing much to do on Day 1, we thought of putting up at a budget hotel. Sea Lord fitted the bill perfectly.

Its on the main road in kochi facing the back waters. You can shop in the bylanes around the hotel, go the the sea side for a nice evening walk. Rooms are decent and staff courteous. You may try outside food as the quality is not great here. However if you are looking for a sumptous value meal, you may try the inhouse hotel buffet. There is a roof top restaurant which can be a good dining option if the weather permits.

Overall decent value for money stay.

Sea Lord is located on a main road in central Cochin. While the location is good, the hotel is fairly average.

The main road is quite busy and hence it can be difficult to find parking near the hotel to load/unload luggage.

The room interiors and bathrooms are in need of cleaning-up and some refurbishment. They are now fairly old.

The service, overall, is polite and efficient.

Things that I did not like about the hotel-
1. Food - below par.

Sea Lord was a real value for money hotel. I was looking for a place to stay just for the nights as we were sightseeing during the day and this was an ideal place. Plenty of shops close by for daily requirements. Buffet breakfast in the morning was included and pretty simple and satisfactory. Spent approx 1500per night and was here for 2.
Bathrooms were not upto the mark in cleanliness but tolerable.
The carpets in the rooms were extremely bad and smelled horrible.
Try getting the rooms without carpet flooring.
Not much to say about the view as this hotel does not have any, besides buildings and terraces around. But we did not care much as we just wanted a place to sleep comfortably.
The restaurant on the first floor is well furnished, however the rooftop restaurant needs some furnishing.
Lastly the location is good as you have plenty of shopping nearby and Marine drive just a lane away.

Stayed for a night only. Didn't find anything exciting about it except its location being in the heart of the city. Theres a huge lake (sea like) right in front of the hotel across the street but theres no view to it from any of the rooms as there are buildings on the other side of the street.
Recommendation: One can stay in this hotel if he or she is not expecting more than just spending the sleeping time and rest on sight seeing.
Food is ok, economical but the quantity is not good.

Not the most attractive building ever, and the views are of a bustling street rather than over the water, but a large, clean room, good laundry service, and everything else in Cochin is easily accessible by road or ferry (ferries leave from just over the road).

We stayed here for three nights in December 2005 and paid 1400Rs a night for the room including breakfast. There's a rooftop restaurant which is ok if it isn't raining but it's a bit concretey. The food at the hotel was pretty good. The hotel is actually in Ernakulam not on Cochin old town which is on an island across the river/sea but the ferry terminal (very very cheap) is just a 10 minute walk away. Across the road is a basic shopping mall and round the back of the hotel are narrow streets full of shops and markets - fascinating for a wander! There's a good travel desk and the staff were receptive and helpful when sorting out problems. We weren't happy however with the quality of the laundry service.

Unico neo: attenzione all'apertura della finestra mentre è in funzione l'aria condizionata! Si crea una grossa condensa sui soffitti! (A noi è capitato di risvegliarci la mattina con le coperte umide per le gocce che piano piano erano cadute nella notte"

We stayed here for one night after getting fed up with another hotel. We were charged around 2000 rupees for a double room. The beds were uncomfortable but the room had a couch a TV and was pretty clean. I'd expect a bit more in terms of size and decoration for the price we've paid but it's good enough for a short stay. Their food is good and they have a pretty seedy (filled only with men of course) bar. The lobby is nice and spacious with English-speaking, courteous staff. There's a phone and a menu in the room but no info on how to contact the front desk or the room service. Bunch of electrical stuff was not working (outlet, lights in the bathroom.) They have a paid internet station downstairs. Overall I can't complain but don't feel that I got my money's worth. With I can give it 2.5 stars.

The Sea Lord was probably one of the least desirable hotels I stayed in while travelling through South India. The problem starts with the location - it is no where near the sights in Kochin. The road out front is noisy, the shopping mall across the street is dominated by mobile phone shops and the local market behind the hotel is a local market. So unless you want to buy plastic buckets or cooking utensils there isn't much to look at. The rooms are okay - at least the linens were clean which is a bonus in India - but there are cockroaches roaming about quite freely and the bathrooms desperately need upgrading. At the very least they could replace the moldy excuse for a shower curtain with a new one. The quality of food in the restaurant was average but the service was incredibly slow. Overall, the experience was passable but no one at the hotel did anything to make it memorable and soon the Sea Lord will be forgotten as just another average hotel.

Just a budget hotel, stayed in the standard ac room as a part of package, room was ok but the bathroom could have been better, you could see that that the hotel had upgraded its quality recently but still got some way to go.The location is also not ideal as the hotel entrance leads on to a busy road. The redeeming factors is that ferry terminal is across the road.and the hotel has a descent restaurant...the staff at the reception can also do with a smile...will i go again? "no"

We stayed here for 1 night in september, its incredibly overpriced, the paint was peeling off the walls and the room decorated with furniture that belonged in the 70s.
The worst thing was the staff, the lady on the travel desk barely lifted her head once she realised she couldnt sell us a trip as all we needed to know was the best way to get to alleppy.
When we checked out they wouldnt accept card payment but cash only, we explained we had no cash and their answer was that there was an atm afew doors down from hotel.

We poorly planned our trip and the hotel photos are also misleading as it didn't look as bad as it is in reality. Especially from the outside, it is a real, scary dump.

The rooms look clean at the first sight, however the bathroom and windows are a bit dirty and run down, furniture is from 1960-ties and all in all, it is suitable for people on some serious budget. Actually, it might be expensive for them. So not sure who this hotel caters for?

The hotel is a standard tourist hotel which they call 3 star. Room size is good. But ambience is missing. The quality of materials used is also uninspiring.

I judge hotels by their driveways. This one had none. Its on a busy road where the taxi struggles to find a parking near the hotel entrance.

The lift is inadequate to even hold a family of 2 Adults & 2 kids with some stuff. The galleries are too narrow for 2 persons to pass. Staircase has a wornout look.

The restaurant also wears a dingy look. The efforts to make the buffet seems like 3-star are not good enough. I don’t know what kind of clientelle they are targetting.

But this group has lovely hotels in Munnar (Las Plamas) and Thekkady (Silver Crest) where we stayed with delight for the next 3 nights. Pehaps due to these later bookings in the Kerala hills, we had to undergo the punishment at Prison Sea Lord, Kochi.
