I am writing this review while still in the resort..Actually feeling bad that we will leave this place tomm to head back home..This place was just what we needed...A very well maintained resort with great service and food...its located away from the hustle bustle of main city and still is well connected, so u get to enjoy the city as well as the tranquillity of being in the lap of nature...My kid was excited to see the ducks and for the first time saw grasshoper, cricket (the sound making bug) etc which you dont get to see alot in cities and i loved her reaction....The staff is very hostipitable and they go that extra mile to make u feel part of priviledged lot..Would love to come back soon..

I visited 'Shilpi resort' during second week of March-2011 with my wife, parents and my kid. It was indeed a memorable stay in the resort. It is situated away from the cities hustle- bustle.... situated in the surroundings of hillocks and in its neighbourhood there is 'Shipl Gram' a project of Central Govt of India.
The staff of the hotel was very co-operative during the stay. I actaully had booked in the standard room, but since, all the standard rooms were occupied, the manager upgraded us in the premium room- without any extra cost!!!
The hotel has very good quality of cuisine, a nice swimming pool and a good garden.
I would strongly recommend this resort for all those who want a calm getaway....

I always love holidays in quiet and serene surroundings to be totally cut off from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life we have.. In that manner, I am happy to have selected this hotel for stay. I had actually booked this hotel after seeing the reviews on the net and happy with the decision.. The room was good [I had taken the premier one], which was tidy , spacious and the food was good.. The kids had a great time in the pool.. It is of course a little away from the main city but then the hotel also arranges cabs as per your convenience.. It is adjacent to Shilpagram a great hub for recretational activities with camel rides for children, shops and puppet show etc.. They should consider adding Spa/massages which would make the stay more memorable.. But even otherwise, I dont regret the stay here..

We have just returned from a tour of Rajasthan. We stayed at Shilpi resort for three nights and had an excellent time. We originally contacted the hotel through their own website and spoke directly to the manager Raj, who is very keen to have foreign guests.
We arrived after a long and exhausting journey from Delhi and were met with great big smiles and a beautiful. large and clean room.
Dinner and breakfast is included in the price, which is very convenient as the hotel is not in the centre, but only a short rickshaw ride away. The food was delicious and they also serve alcohol, which was a great bonus.
Each room has a balcony overlooking lovely gardens and there is also a swimming pool to cool off in.
This hotel is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of indian life, all the staff are very friendly and speak English.
I would definately return in the future.

Although we had a stay of 3 nights in this beautiful Resort, where we have found the picturesque set up of the Resort, a most hygenic and clean swimming pool- a best of town as well lush green and peaceful atmosphere with the backdrop of the resplendent Aravali hills & sumptous food. we strongly recommend this Resort as best place to witness the natural enviornment located adjacent to craft village"Shilpgram" with live folk melodies.Services are excellent too & a real natural Resort with soul. The best way to book this Resort by its website.

this was a very peaceful hotel. It has a country, rural feel to it. We dined outside in the courtyard. There were very few tourists there when we were there. You can walk out into the country and right next door is the Shilgram Crafts Village. They were having a crafts fair when we were there.

The only disadvantage is that you need a car or transportation. It is too far to just walk into Udaipur. On the other hand, it was good to escape the chaos of the city.

We stayed there in April. On first look it was a old resort and we thought while entering if at all it will be a good choice. But after entering the resort we were proven wrong. It was a very nice stay. The rooms are very well maintained and service is really quick. Food is really excellent and should be tried.

Stayed at this hotel for one night after a last minute booking due to flight delays.
Was pleasently suprised with the standard of rooms and facilities available.
Its a shame the hotel is a little out of the way of the main attractions, but if you're looking for somewhere to relax in nice spacious surroundings at a good price - this is the place!

It was a short stay!!! this is our feeling on leaving the hotel.
It is very quiet place with all facilities being there for the family.
With lavish garderns, and play area, it was a good relaxing time.
The rooms were also done properly and the food was good.

the room service could have been better

The Resort is in the foot hills away from the hustle-bustle of the Touristy Udaipur, but still it takes only 10 minutes car drive to reach into the heart of the City.
The rooms are spacious and clean. Few expected amenities like in-room locker, internet connection, iron+board, etc were found lacking.
There and many nice lawns with sofa swings to chill out or read a book. The swimming pool is clean and nice but not heated so propably useful only when temperature is higher.
There is a lagoon type of water feature in one of the lawns which needs cleaning badly.
The service staff is very helpful and attentive. We went with our one year old baby and had the usual spills and stuff and the service staff was very courtous in helping out.
The Restaurant is not all day dining so we had to plan when to have our meals which obviously we did not like being on vacation. But they went out of way to prepare the type of baby food that we feed and even allowed my wife to go in the kitchen to inspect the baby food preparation to ensure it is right.
The resort is close to the handicraft village and evenings host puppet show etc..

The Rooms we stayed were newly constructed, but still the draingae in bathroom was getting blocked. Reptative request to solve the issue was in fail till we check out. Food Quality is very poor. Only in case one dosenot get reservation in peak season at reasonable cist than one can be here. They have spend a good amount to make a good place but the maintenance is very poor. Food taste is also not upto the mark.

This resort is located away from the hustle-bustle of the city and yet just 15 minutes drive away, right next to Shilpgram, the artisan's village. The resort is above average with lush gardens and a clean pool. However, one of the garden fountains was shut down and was filled with dirty, stagnant water, overrun with insects and it created a jarring not. If they wanted to shut down the fountain, it would not have taken much effort to drain the water collection area and keep it clean. The rooms were clean (we had stayed in the Premium room, the highest category) but when we walked into the room the bathroom smelt of mustiness as it must not have been aired for a long time. We had to ask the housekeeping to clean up the bathroom and then place some deodorants in there, which should have been done before we moved in. The restaurant has a limited cuisine. The non-vegetarian food is tasty, if somewhat spicy. The most upsetting event occured when we asked for some local cuisine. Initially, they refused, but after much cajoling they agreed to procure it from another local eatery. But we were shocked when they presented us a bill for the food which was more than thrice of what they had got it for. (We confirmed with the manager about the actual amount he had paid his minion to get it from the local eatery). Also in the restaurant, we use to ask for mineral water and they always used to serve the bottle with the seal broken and the water tasted like underground bore water (treated by an RO System) (Since we were in MAP plan they could not charge us for bottled mineral water at breakfast and dinner since it was included in the package). On all the four days that we stayed over there, we had to remind the housekeeping staff to supply us with soaps and shampoos and they would never have replenished our supplies after clearing the room.
Somehow, all these irritants gives one a feeling that rather than ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied, the management aimed more at making as much profit as possible from each customer.

We stayed at Shilpi resort for 2N/3D. It has a good location but a little away from the main city. So you may not want to stay there unless you have your own means of transport.

The resort is very clean and nicely maintained. The rooms were good but the bathrooms require a bit upgradation. The service was also good.

Breakfast menu has limited options but the quality of food is excellent.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the Diwali weekend with a package rate including breakfast and dinner. The resort was full of Gujarati families and probably understaffed because service was pathetic. Breakfast was okay but the dinner buffet was just veggie stuff and extremely spicy. We had to make a fuss to get a single chicken dish. A request for a glass of milk took several reminders and then it was finally delivered an hour later ! Needless to say we went out for lunch. Room service dishes were not cleared for 2 days, the lawns and the little water structure were littered with rubbish, maintenance was poor. The swimming pool was full of people who had jumped in fully clothed.

We had a ground floor room towards the back of the resort and it was rather small but the bathroom was large, hot showers good. The large lawn area was good for kids to run around and play. Ample parking was also a plus point.

We had our own car so location was not a problem, but the hotels is located away from the main city and right next to Shilpgram. This could be a decent place to stay but overcrowding, non-existent service and poor food totally spoiled it.
