So this guy in a business suit flags me down at Chennai airport and asks if I need a place to stay. I was a little reluctant but he had on a suit and when he said he had transportation and the transportation had the hotel logo, I was more at ease. I was taken to the hotel and pleasantly surprised. In the midst of less desirable options, this was an oasis. Very clean. Staff very courteous. All-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Believe it or not the guy cut me a deal when we were still at the airport ... not sure if it's because I was arriving late or maybe I'm just cool like that or whatever but I guess he knows a partially-paying customer is better for business than a vacant room. Anyway, even if I had to pay full-price. this was worth it. Only reason I'm not staying is I'm here long-term and i need something more within my budget. But it was definitely a pleasant welcome to Chennai. Take it from me. I'm a journalist and I tell it like it is.

From GM, Mr. Sahota and his all supporting staff including Mr. Nanda Kumar, Mr. Santosh, and Mr. Sheikh and ALL other supporting staff that I cannot remember names were highly supporting and very helpful. Mr. Sahota has put together a fine staff and he should be proud of his efforts. They made our stay in the hotel very pleasant and comfortable.

This hotel should be rated 4+.

i had to stay at this hotel because i missed my flight due to chennai traffic. But i must say the hotel staff did a splendid job in taking care of me. I was not at all in a happy mood but the conduct of the hotel staff made me smile. Its a good hotel to stay at. The rooms are nice, big and comfortable. I even got a complementary beer coupon from the lobby for staying at this place for the first time.

Despite being right in the heart of the city, we had no noise problems as we tend to experience at other hotels. We loved the room- we had a suite. the decor was vastefully done and the bathroom was spotless. they are also relatively eco-friendly, which was a plus for us. the staff here was really commendable- very customer-friendly and attentive to our needs. We only had one problem during our stay here- our room blew a fuse one day- and even that was immediately taken care of. Kudos to the staff here. We really liked the dinner buffet at the restaurants there as well as the different dining choices we had here. Overall a great experience.

The rooms have all modern and conventional facilities. the staff are very courteous and know multi languages.. the restauents in the hotel offer all kinds of cuisines. the hotel is very good for meetings and business conferences as well. it has a huge parking lot. it has halls for organising functions, meetings, etc. The room service is excellent. all in all a hotel which can be afforded by an average middle class people.

I went for business trip to Radha Regent with my collegues. We stayed there by 2 days. We received good quality from the people in Radha Regent. The response from the working people was very good.

Rooms that we stayed was excellent. Each room had good TV with DVD players. We enjoyed a lot.

Its beautiful interiors and high atrium lobby, which allows light to shimmer through translucent roofing, never fails to amaze the guests. Also they have a lot of events in the main lobby for Xmas/new year so rooms are not really quiet and it looked very beautiful.

We had laptop with us. We requested the net connection. They provided free internet connection. The connection spped was so good.

The air-conditioning worked great, the service was prompt and gracious.

At the overall, it was a nice trip with us.

Food is good.Especially dinner buffet at coffee shop is excellent and value for money.

I went on a business trip to Chennai. For the reducing the travel from my office, i decided to stay in Radha Regent.
Initially ther was some fumble in the front office. There was a little delay in getting the system - Which was hanging. The resposnce of the employees were very good. Tried to minimse the discomfort.

Room was excellent - Pretty spaciaous rooms - TWINbeds - Good TV system with a DVD player - set top box

Toilets well maintained - there was a little bit leak in the flush - Bath tub was clean and without stain.

Minibar was good.

Food in the restaurent was very good. Quite worthy for the money. Bar was also a good cosy one.

Checkout was very efficient - no delay at all

The Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner served in their 3 restaurants was finger liking good.
I enjoyed the Teppanyaki food served at their Oriental Blossom restaurant.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the third floor with a view of the busy main road. The suite, though dated, was comfortable. There were two TVs and a full size refrigerator. The air conditioning was not the best (not cool enough) but by Indian hotel standards not bad. We had problems with the water faucet in the bathroom tub but they attended to it right away (someone was there in under 10 minutes to fix the problem). My sister and I were traveling with our elderly parents. The hotel staff was extremely courteous in helping us. My father is legally blind and there was always someone ready to hold his hand and guide him whenever we were leaving or returning from a trip outside. The breakfast buffet was excellent with choices of south and north Indian dishes as well as continental American fare. There was a good variety of fruit juices and fresh fruit. The lobby, restaurant and rooms were very well lighted which my father liked given his limited sight. They have good wireless access in the room as well as a business center downstairs with computer access. The customer service staff inquired periodically on our comfort and if there was anything they could do to make our stay comfortable. I plan to definitely stay here again on my next trip.

I stayed here for a night. It's difficult to find problems with the hotel as it will score well in all departments. Only thing is that nothing stands out in particular. But given I had a short stay it didn't bother me that much.

As for food, I tried the breakfast and it was pretty ok. The spread was good but the same cannot be said about the taste. I didn't like the sausages and the noodle was bland and cold.

Overall quite a pleasant stay but I didn't like the price I had to pay for it.

Chennai has become the most annoying place for me to visit. Earlier it was because of its infamous autowalas and now because of its ridiculously unorganized airport.

However Radha Regent comes as a breath of fresh air in all this. The people here are nice and the food good and somewhat reasonably priced. It is an ideal place for an overnight stay in Chennai.

As I had onward journey to complete I had to leave the place in the wee hours and I was touched by this guy at the reception who asked me if I would like a cup of tea before I leave. No big deal for any hotel to do this but honestly very few till date have offered it to me.

On arrival we had food at the ‘Café in the Park’ and I must say it was an amazing spread. Good fish and some amazing Indian stuff but if you ask for a basket of Indian bread or rotis you will never get it… This is Madras my dear my colleague told me…

All in all, good bang for your buck.

The check in and check out was smooth and the rooms were roomy and comfortable.

Not a place for a romantic stay but a business stay is well recommened being very close to the Koyembedu BUs stand.

I travel to Chennai once in a fortnight and started to stay in Radha Regent primarily for the location, being at vicinity to our clients.

The best part of the hotel is the cordial service from the staff and comfortable space in the room. I use to have informal dinner meeting with local colleagues or clients in the room, which is best suited in Radha Regent, considering the food quality and room space.

I could now see the staff recognizing and welcoming with warm wishes. It's a hospitable stay and as titles, it's apt for business trips.

We have stayed here twice. The first was some years ago and the hotel was in great condition. They need to spend some money on maintaining the rooms (caulking/lighting in bathrooms). One thing that we really missed was the shower curtain (thick plastic liner) because it was not there the spraying shower water would get on the floor of the bathroom. Also they have a lot of activities in the lobby for Xmas/new year so rooms are not really quiet.
Now for the good part..
This is a three-star hotel by international standards.
This is an ideal hotel for north chennai. Like most Indian hotels it is overpriced for the value. Breakfast and other food was really good. Very friendly staff. Free internet access.
I will definitely stay here on future trips. Did not have a chance to try the ala carte restaurants but they seemed pricey.
Value for the money is good compared to other Indian hotels.

This hotel is now known as the Radha Regent Hotel. It's an impressive hotel, with large comfortable rooms and a good selection of restaurants and a bar with entertainment.

Guests get five hours of free wireless internet, with more available for purchase at reasonable rates.

I enjoyed my three nights here and would definitely stay again. However as I was checking out two different couples came to reception to say they were checking out early because of the noise - there is a construction site right beside the hotel and the ground floor rooms suffer from noise from the machinery. I was on the third floor and didn't hear a thing.

Hi,

I am an Indian national and my wife is a US citizen. This was the first time I took her to my hometown Chennai. We stayed at the Radha Park Inn for 8 days. It was wonderful.

The air-conditioning worked great, the service was prompt and courteous. The hot water worked great and the house keeping was prompt in getting us what we wanted. Hair dryers are available upon request but while alarm clocks are a feature in US hotels, wake up calls are the norm in Indian hotels and alarm clocks are not provided. The internet connection was real fast though it cost Rs.125 per hour, which still was somewhat reasonable. It cost us $80 per night to stay there, the rates may have gone up to $90 per night with taxes after tariff increases in October, we obtained our reservation earlier than October. One thing I did notice is that they give summary charges upon check-out and do not break down the long distance phone charge by every call you made. So it does help to keep an approximate track of your own charges. However, their charges tallied up just fine with my records when I checked out.

The breakfast was included. It contained a combination of Indian and continental cuisine. It had cereal, french toast, someone available to make omelettes for you with veggies and cheese, boiled eggs, plain toast, muffins and then of course a barrage of Indian breakfast food too. Coffee and tea were included in the complimentary breakfast but not water. We always opted for mineral water when we ate there. The breakfast is inside Cafe In The Park, which is one of 2 restaurants inside the hotel. The other one is Oriental Blossom, a place offering chinese and japanese style cuisine. All of them are reasonably priced. Then you have a pub named Geoffreys for having drinks, if you love smoking and drinking, that is a good place for you. Yes, you do get tired with the choices in the breakfast after a while.

The rental car, if arranged through the hotel, may be a bit more expensive than outside the hotel ($40 as opposed to $30 for 10 hours/100 kms during a day with a driver) but it is worth it since the drivers tend to know routes and tourists better when the car is booked through the hotel. Besides, the hotel's reputation is at stake too. Once, we had to pick up some tailored clothing somewhere. The driver from the hotel made sure to keep us under the daily hour limit and took his personal vehicle to pick up the stuff for us the day before we left Chennai. (I couldn't have expected this kind of service in Delhi which we visited for 3 days prior to going to Chennai. Delhi is over-priced and it is just like living and eating out (if you choose an upscale place) in New York City or London. The streets, living conditions and service in Delhi definitely don't warrant their asking prices, but that is my personal opinion.)

I would definitely give this hotel a 4-star for class, and a 5-star for service.

Being an auditor by profession, I have traveled in various cities of India and also abroad and stayed in several star-rated hotels. Also being an auditor, the habit of searching quality service works on its own.

This hotel has good staff at reception, room service and housekeeping. Another good feature of the hotel is that for staying there, there is in the form of a complement 2 coupons of drinks (hot/soft) per day of stay. But this hotel misses on few accounts. Such as there is no swimming pool though there is gymnasium. Also though it claims in the room service menu that you can get home-like-food but probably the kitchen staff either do not know or insensitive to the same. I had to return the food twice to get the simply food as available in home but still could not get the “home-like-food”. I had ordered for Roti/Alu-ka-sabji with special mention that it should be home-like as they claim in their roon service menu. After first time failure to deliver the same, I asked the staff that do they have this kind of spicy food at home. He said “no”. Then I asked to give food as made in their home. Even after being so categorical, second time also, they gave the same food with a little alteration.

Rooms are clean and as you would expect, service is friendly enough without being particularly efficient. Breakfast is decent with a nice mix of South Indian and Western stuff. Be warned though that it is a good 40 minute trip in a rickshaw to the centre of Chennai, so location isn't great...unless of course you like tiles, as the hotel is surrounded by hundreds of shops selling tiles. There is an 'English bar' downstrairs called Geoffreys selling overpriced booze with ropey caberet acts singing if that tickles your fancy.

I get business visitors from Belgium four or five times a year and sometimes book them into this hotel.

While we generally had no serious complaints, recent experiences indicate that the hotel is slipping. The last two occasions, in October and November, my guests had a few complaints :

1. The promised car was not at the airport; rather inconvenient for midnight landings.
2. Noisy air conditioning.
3. The reception agree to book a table for Teppanyaki, and confirm the booking the next morning. When we go there we find that the service is not on for a week !
4. A cockroach was wandering around the tables on which the dinner buffet was laid out.

Finally the staff would not give us the General Manager's telephone number !!

We stayed at the Radha Regent for two days. The stay was manageable as the property was not so great in terms of service or quality but staff was helpful. The room was not so attractive but clean and food was also quite average. In all the hotel is good for short stay only. The staff are polite. I had an excellent time with the hotel. It was wonderful. It was a good hotel especially for the business travelers. The room was big enough for the single person and facilities were sufficient. The staff was active and always supportive. The food was also fantastic. The air-conditioning worked great, the service was prompt and courteous. The hot water worked great and the house keeping was prompt in getting us what we wanted. Hair dryers are available upon request. The shower has a bath tub - believe it or not, a lot of hotels have open showers in India, a bath tub or shower enclosure can be a luxury in many places, so ask for it always. The internet connection at the Business Center was real fast though it was compimentary, which still was somewhat reasonable.

Radha Regent ( formerly - Radha Park Inn) reflects the essence of Chennai, by incorporating traditional Tamilian hospitality with contemporary, state of the art service and technology, thus making it immensely suitable for business travelers and tourists. Its beautiful interiors and high atrium lobby, which allows light to shimmer through translucent roofing, never fails to amaze the guests. The hotel is easily accessible from the airport and downtown Chennai.

A leading online travel company recently arranged accommodation for us at the Radha Park Inn, Chennai.
There seem to be certain practices by certain people at this establishment that will probably upset other clients as much as I was angered.

We arrived at the hotel at around 3am on the 30th January. We'd elected to use a local hotel as soon as we arrived, rather than face a 3 hour night drive to Pondicherry as soon as we landed after a 10 hour flight.

After grabbing a few hours sleep, we asked reception to organise a taxi to Pondicherry. I asked how much this would cost, and the guy behind the desk then spent the next five minutes banging in figures to his calculator. The resulting price was 4800 Rupees (around £61.50, not out of the question, you might think, for a 3-hour, 160 km trip). I was told that this could be paid by credit card. Now recall that we'd been travelling for the best part of 15 hours with 3-4 hours sleep at the end, so I wasn't exactly on top form.
After breakfast, I went to pay for the taxi at the travel desk, to be told that I would have to pay in cash "so that the driver could pay for petrol...". Again this didn't seem to be particularly out of line, it was India after all. I then changed a £50 Lloyds Bank sterling travellers cheque at reception to cover some of the cost. As I walked away with my money, I felt that the currency figures were wrong. I checked the confirmation slip to find that the guy had given me rupees for a 50 dollar travellers cheque. Call me old fashioned, but it's is blatantly obvious that a sterling cheque is just that, by virtue of the large '£' symbols all over it. Having spotted the 'mistake' I went back to demand that the cheque be exchanged to its full face value. This was done, although I received no apology, and therefore am led to believe that this person knew exactly what he was up to.

Sadly, the saga continues: finding that I still needed more cash for the taxi, I changed a further £50 cheque (no problems this time; it was a different person on the desk...), and paid the cash for the taxi.
We were driven to Pondicherry, which took the allotted 3 hours, albeit with a stop for a tyre change on the way, the old tyre having split around it's circumference due to extreme old age and having been remoulded at least half a dozen times.
I gave the driver a tip of 400 rupees, in my infinite wisdom. No wonder he nearly fell over, his face lit with joy - no doubt he's very cosy with the receptionist at the Radha Park Inn. And he never bought any fuel along the way, either...

The manager of our destination hotel in Pondicherry informed me that the true cost should have been a maximum of 2000 rupees, and that there was a much quicker, more pleasant route. Using a different driver, obviously, we took this route on the return leg. It was indeed quicker and much more pleasant.

Whilst we will return to this area of Tamil Nadu, I will not be using the Radha Park Inn at Chennai again following our experience.

The hotel itself was very good, air con, great atrium entrance and restaurant - but it just lets itself down by things like this happening.
