The Marriott Guest House is a reasonably priced hotel (between 45-70$) which will pick you up from the airport and take good care of you while you are there. The staff is excellent- the rooms are quite big and clean- the area (Gulshan 2) is in the diplomatic zone and is very quiet except for the endless construction of apartments and hotels- and the only complaint I've had while staying there is that the Tandoori chicken doesn't seem to be cooked long enough.

I travel to Dhaka about twice a year on business and stay in Gulshan. Marriott Guest House got it right with a nice combination of location and value. I was within walking distance to the office, I could run along Lake Banani on early mornings (although certainly hot and humid this time of year), and it was located on a quiet side street. The management was very accommodating, breakfast was prompt and dinner was always a tasty option if I didn't feel like going out. Steak House was the nearest restaurant and there were plenty of other tasty places in Gulshan and Banani.

This small guest house is quiet, old fashioned but better than the others. The hotel’s location is great. You can walk to the nearby restaurants and clubs. I stayed there for two days. The staff are warm, professional, inviting and friendly. The room I stayed in was clean, spacious and comfortable. There is internet facility too. The hotel is clean and the food is good. The surroundings are quiet. I have stayed at a number of hotels in Dhaka. But this one has the friendliest staff and a hygienic environment. The prices too are reasonable and affordable. I would surely recommend it to anyone.

I was booked in other bigger and more expensive hotel on my first 10 days. But then I was not satisfied at all. The people were rude, the receptionists were mean, and the room was so - so.... and they charge me $60 (and they said it's already corporate rate!).
After 10th day, I move to Mariott Guest House. A truly home in away... the guest house is small, but the location is better and more quite.
The room is a bit old, but acceptable.. the carpet a bit smelly tho... but you can always forget that by meeting their warm staff...
Mariott is definitely my choice when I am back there...

PS : if you need any rickshaw, you can always call my trusted and reliable rickshaw driver named Sagol you can always send me an email to get his number...

This is an unpretentious guesthouse which works out to be very functional for your stay in Dhaka. Internet is very fast and a generator kicks in powerfully in case of black outs. It is at walking distance from some of the expatriate clubs and restaurants which will make your stay in the capital of Bangladesh more pleasant. It could be more clean but it is relatively hygienic, with friendly staff manning a practically 24 hours restaurant. Good value for services. Certainly one of the best places to stay mid-range in Dhaka.
