We stayed on the top floor with the most stunning view of the fort. It was so peaceful, despite the hotel being in a crowded part of town. We had no problem with this since the hotel is close to the clocktower and the market. It's also only 15 minutes by autorickshaw to Mehrangarh and Jaswant Thada.
The rooftop restaurant also provides FANTASTIC views of the city. The food is average, but one can always have a beer and snacks on the rooftop and stare away at the fort with the clanging of bells in the background. Great staff and great hotel!

Stayed here inn March 2011 for 3 days. This was my first step in a trip through Rajhastan. The hospitality was fantastic and the family that ran it were some of the nicest people I stayed with in India. We were invited into their home for tea everyday. They treated us like family and I have to say this stop made the trip. The rooms were very clean and the location was great. It was located in the old town. Its a comfortable walk from the Fort (catch an auto-rickshaw up and walk back) and only 2 minutes from the markets near the clock tower. Sitting on the roof top for cold beers at dusk was a high light. Great people and they will make the stay memorable.

Arriving at this haveli through the heaving market we didn't know what to expect. Through the narrow entrance, an extremely warm welcome awaited us from the proprietor who could not do enough to ensure our comfort and enjoyment from our stay. Travelling on a tight budget we did not know what to expect but rooms were clean and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the fort and plenty of hot water and A/C should you need it. A short tuk-tuk ride or walk from the hotel is the Maharanga fort which is a must see. We took a cooking lesson with the proprietors mother and auntie and then were privilaged enough to be shown around the private quaters of the haveli. By the time we ate our dinner that we had helped cook at the roof top restaurant we felt quite one of the family. The views of the fort at night were quite simply stunning as it was lit up. We were there the night before the Holi festival and were able to watch preparations under way in the streets below. A real night to remember.

This is definitely the type of accommodation I am always searching for: great location, great service, great view, spacious room and overall homely feeling....all at a very reasonable price. If you want to experience the colorful sounds, smells, sights and people of Jodhpur's downtown historic city bazaars, this is definitely the place to come to! The view from my balcony was breathtaking: two large water tanks (like small lakes, really), the old city beyond, and the majestic fort dominating in the background. Barely five minutes' walk from the Clock Tower, one has access to all the main sites very easily. A cool roof-top restaurant offers very correct food but would benefit from a bit of shade, given the abundant sun in this well-named "Sun City"! The room was large enough for me to practice yoga! I'll very gladly come back to this wonderful address!

We booked the hotel because of favorable comments, but were overwhelmed when the hospitality turned out to be even better, although we could stay only one night. The friendliness of the owner made us feel like being part of his family. It was the best service we experienced during our whole three week trip through India!
He reopened the roof restaurant just for despite our late arrival after 11pm. The view over the town and the fort hill is fabulous. The rooms are large and well equipped. Everything was in working order. The bed sheets were really clean, which you find rarely in the budget category.
The hotel is in the middle of the old town, one minute from the clock tower and the bazars. You can walk up to the fort (30 min) or take an inexpensive cab.
The only negatives were the traffic noise coming along with the city location and mosquitoes due to the adjacent reservoir. For the latter a repellent disperser is provided.
The hotel is a must for the budget category in Jodhpur.

The rooms were clean and decent and has the best view of Mehrangarh fort.....you feel you are living just beside the fort. On our arrival Himanshu(owner of the Hotel) showed us our rooms and asked us to come to the terrace after we freshen up. I was a bit confused as to why he is asking us to be in terrace, only to find that Himanshu wanted to show us the various places to visit in Jodhpur, from his hotel's terrace. Yes all the sights, specially the fort, were visible from the roof top and he even told a bit of history about all of them. We felt very nice when we heard him and knew instantly that we had made a very good choice to stay at Jee Ri Haveli.
We had arrived in the hotel at around 11:30 PM in the night and stiil he arranged for us a lovely dinner and was himself there to attend to our needs. Infact the food in their hotel was indeed good.
He kept a constant watch on our needs and even called us couple of times, while we were sightseeing around jodhpur, to understand what we would like for our lunch and dinner. You have hot water 24 hrs there and that was a relief because we had bad experience about this in Jaisalmer (Hotel Rose Vila). Uncle, Himasnhu's father, is a great man; we spent some time chatting to him and he made us feel as if we were his relatives who came on vaccation to his house. He even made tea himself, for us.
I had lost my wallet and wanted to lodge an FIR for the same at the local Police Station. As you already know that how corrupt the police is here in India, therefore I was a bit tensed as to how would I manage to lodge the FIR in a place I dont know. However the moment Himanshu heard about this dilemma of mine, he took it on his shoulders and went out of his way to ensure that I get the FIR done. Infact he himself accompanied me to the police station and did all the formalities involved. That why I say they were out of the way helpful. Himanshu ou are great and so is your lovely Hotel.

Cheers,
Arunav

My family and I were visiting from the US and spent two nights at Jee Ri Haveli. The stay was very homely and comfortable. The view from the roof is breathtaking (especially early in the morning or during sunset). The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms were great (hot water, western toilets ... and most imp. toilet paper ;) . Himanshu and his Father were very hospitable and even joined us one evening for an authentic Rajashthani meal on the roof (recommended!) . Himanshu also gave us the ins and outs of tourist spots (set us up for a desert safari), places to eat and touristy-booby traps to avoid. Relative to places we stayed during the rest of our trip (Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar) , this was by far my favorite and I will be def. coming back.

Our host wanted us to treat the place like it was our own home. He was unbelievably helpful and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, organising bus tickets for us, and even coming to get us when the bus broke down the next day! The food at the rooftop restaurant was home cooked and very tasty, and the views were second to none!
The only small downside was that there were no pillowcases on the pillows.
Our room had its own window alcove and balcony!

We just came back from India. In our program we stay one night in Jodhpur and chose Jee Ri Haveli. We got the CORRECT answer, the best thing is the hospitality of owner and their staffs, the second is the location it’s very near Sagar market, you can see Marangha and blue city just in front of you when you go to the roof top restaurant and also the view of Jaswant Thada, Udai Bawan palace. If we have chance to go there again we still rest in my home away from home “Jee Ri Haveli” again.

While the hotel can be difficult to find as there is no sign at the front door, it is worth the effort searching! The hotel staff are amazing and attentive and really make you feel part of their family. One guest had a birthday while we were there and the owner organised fireworks and cake. They helped us with everything, booking tours etc. The view from the roof has to be one of the best in Jodhpur, totally uninterrupted views of the fort, jaswant thada and umaid palace. Rooms are clean and comfortable with hot water and A/C. Even our standard room (202) had a balcony with views of the fort. Oh and the food is delicious, i don't know how previous reviewers could have complained!! We were very happy and didn't want to eat anywhere else!!

Jee Ri Haveli is one of the best hotels in terms of value for money. It offers a breath-taking view of the Meherangarh Fort from its roof-top restaurant. The room that we stayed in was pretty large. I must mention specially about the extremely courteous and friendly behaviour of the owner of the hotel. The way they treated us was unimaginable. We will always remember friendly treatment that we received from them. The hospitality of the hotel is the best that we have ever experienced. The hotel is a must-stay for any one visiting Jodhpur.

This B&B hotel is actually the most clean and cosy hotel I stayed in India ( at the same price level). It's more than a hotel to me, it is like my home in India. The view of the hotel is fantastic, we have a balcony so can have the overview of the fort and the lake. The inside is amazingly clean, very much like B&Bsin Europe. The owner and his family treat me so nice and I even have the feeling that I am actually at home. I will find chance to re-visit Jodpur and this wonderful family.

After a disastrous experience in a hotel in Ajmer just prior we were somewhat nervous about what to expect in Jodhpur. We needn't have worried. As soon as we arrived we were greeted cordially by the owner and shown to our room. Our room was spotless and had a lot of character including a colourful window seat which the children enjoyed throughout our stay. The room had a balcony with spectacular views of the Mehangargh Fort and the city. Service was excellent throughout our stay.
The hotel is ideally located for both the Fort and market shopping near the clock tower.
We seemed to be the only people staying at the hotel as we had complete run off the hotel and didn't see anyone except the owner and his family.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February 2010. I found the hotel to be well located about 2 minutes walk from the town market/clocktower area. Our room was large enough, with a balcony looking out over the Fort, town, mountains and the rectangular lakes on the opposite side of the road - a fabulous view. lots of bird-life on the water to watch, as well as everyone going to feed the fish. En-suite with shower, WC and basin, all ok. Family run, by Himanshu and Pragya, this is their old family home. Pragya gave us a cookery class, teaching a couple of Indian dishes in her own kitchen, which was an additional pleasure. She also showed us her wedding album - a wonderful treat. Nothing was too much trouble, trips, laundery and onward taxi were arranged efficently. Food great & served on roof-top restaurant. Loved it all.

I was staying at Jee Ri Haveli in Feb and for me it is just the perfect place to escape the chaos of india's streets for some time. It is a calm and quite place in the heart of Jodhpur's old city center, right next to the Gulab Sagar Lake.

First of all what makes this hotel special is the friendly, trustworthy family who runs it. They really do their best to make you feel at home. On top of the hotel you'll find a beautiful roof terrace with an amazing 360 degree view. it's the highest rooftop restaurant in town. The menu offers selected local dishes as well continental meals (suitable for vegies & meat-eaters) - food's always fresh and the cook's doing a great job. I even had meals with cheese, curd, egg and meat here which i wouldn't trust in most other restaurants in India.

The rooms are very nice and really clean. Best bathroom i ever had on any of my India trips. The building itself is an old haveli with a historical façade, but the hotel itself is just three years old, so all the facilities are pretty new and in excellent condition. The room i had here even had a balcony from where i had a gorgeous view over the city towards the Fort and can watch the life on the street below.

They also had 24h ours internet, whats very helpful. For me Jee Ri Haveli was every Rupi worth, means they had a absolutely correct cost/performance ratio!!!

Having spent months planning our trip I know how important it is to get reliable hotel reviews. Every positive review about this place is spot on. As for the negative ones,I can only assume they were speaking of a different hotel. This place has got the lot. It is safe, clean, friendly, good service, good hot water, once they fire up the service, incredible views of the fort from the rooms close to the clocktower which is where all the action is, good simple Indian food, and a great rooftop restaurant .
Himanshu, the manager, was an absolute gentleman, very kind and humble. He even took me to the post office twice , along with a huge parcel, on the back of his scooter. That was an experience in itself. His lovely sister gave my wife a couple of cooking lessons and we had dinner with his mum and dad on the rooftop.Couldn't stop looking at the fort. It really is that impressive.
If you are going to Jodhpur go to this place.
Himanshu, I want to thank you. We will never forget your kindness.
We hope you will notify us when your sisters baby arrives.

We quite simply could not recommend this family-run guesthouse enough. After a 6 hour train journey, we were warmly welcomed by Himanshu and despite it being close to midnight, we were offered the possibility of refreshments and a meal. Our sweet room had a balcony wih a fantastic view of the Old City and the magnificent sandstone fort, as well as an adorable window seat which was perfect to recline and enjoy the view from.
Unlike many establishments, the family refuse to pay commission to touts and taxi drivers so you get a good deal on the room, and their mantra is 'Our home is your home'.

There's also a gorgeouse rooftop terrace with impressive views over the city and fort (the highest rooftop restaurant in the city), and the food was great. Highly recommended!

We arrived early one morning, well before check in time but was greeted by the owner and immediately shown up to our room. The room was typical haveli style with a wonderful window seat looking out on to one of the best hotel room views we have ever experienced. From our balcony we had an uninterrupted vista of the lake with the Meherangarh Fort in the background. The room and bathroom was very clean and the meals, enjoyed on the roof terrace were excellent. One night we suggested that we would like a Thali, which was off the menu. The owner (a trained chef) was happy to discuss with us what we would like and presented us with one of the best meals we had during our visit to India. Highly recommended.

Very please with the location and the family atmosphere of the place. Very clean up and to western standards, good clean bathroom and plenty of hot water. The view from the room and the roof top restaurant were excellent. The clock tower and markets were just a couple of minute walk and the walk to the fort only took about 10 minutes. Would highly recommend this hotel based on the family who runs it and the location and view are just a plus.

It has been a while since I stayed at Jee Ri Haveli, and my experience there was wonderful. The haveli is nicely located within walking distance from the clock tower, and a longer walt to the fort. From the rooftop, there was an unrivaled view of the fort and the city. The rooftop was a pleasant place to sit and have dinner or just look out at the city. The food was good and freshly prepared in the rooftop restaurant, but make sure that you ask for it to be spicy.

The best feature of the guest house was the family who run it. Himanshu was super friendly and always strived to make sure that I was comfortable and everything was ok. By the end of my two day stay, I felt that I was staying with a family, rather than at a guest house. Some of the many highlights of my stay was the tour to Osian with Himanshu, the lunch on the drive back at Annapurna Restaurant, a wonderful dinner with Himanshu's family on my last night, and just sitting on the rooftop gazing at the lights of Jodhpur at night.

The room was large and clean with a balcony, and the bathroom was spotless. I must say that I did not use the balcony much, since the rooftop was so wonderful and I could get a chance to meet other travellers. I would wonder how hot it might get on the rooftop in the summertime, though.

Overall, Jee Ri Haveli was a great find in a wonderful city. The location was central and the family was amazing.

My husband and I chose this hotel because of the other great reviews of this place. I was a little nervous and unsure if it was the right place when the taxi they sent to pick us up at the railway station pulled up to the hotel. It seemed completely obscure and I wasn't even sure we were in the right place. But after taking a look at the business card on the counter I was relieved, the taxi driver took us to the right place. We were warmly welcomed despite our early morning arrival and our luggage was taken up to our room for us. The room had a nice balcony that looked out on the lake and the fort and had a cute little nook with pillows built into the wall. The room was a good size and I was glad we booked it even though it was more expensive. I was pleasantly surprised with the water pressure at the hotel and hot shower. The bathroom after the first day when the cleaner smell wore of was a bit smelly but whatever, we just closed the door. There is a bit of a mosquito issue since the place is next to the lake but they will spray your room if you ask and they had a plug in mosquito repellent machine. That was it. That was the extent of our issues and that was all very bearable. The restaurant food was good and the view from the top is just great. We took quite a few photos from there. There is one thing they did for us that was so memorable that I have no choice but to stay there if I'm ever back in Jodhpur. They knew we were on our honeymoon and they bought us a cake and had a message put on it. They had us cut the cake and feed each other. They gave us garlands to garland each other and they also brought up the stereo and the whole family. We all danced a bit and it was so fun. They really went the extra step to make us welcome. I was also interested in buying some sindoor and my husband told them and they gave me their own container plus extra sindoor! We were shocked! We were thinking we landed on a different planet they were so friendly. They also offered to go shopping with us when I asked them where too get certain items. They are what made Jodhpur memorable. Visiting the fort and other sites was fun but they made our stay worthwhile. They told us to pay or not pay both were okay! Haha, we paid of course. The family and the staff were extremely helpful and so fun. They have the best of intentions, unfortunately for some foreigners they read the friendliness improperly which is too bad. We had such a great time. We really want to thank the family for making us feel like part of their family.

They booked taxis for us, showed us family wedding photos on the computer, were great with my son & even gave us a room free of charge to freshen up in ,when we were passing through Jodphur on our way home & just popped in for breakfast.
The view form the room was great & there is a small balcony. The window seat is a great little chill out spot & we had breakfast delivered there each morning.
The rooftop restaurant has good food & an awesome view of the fort.

What can I say about this place ?

Himanshu and his family are wonderful people.

My girlfriend was quite ill when we arrived and she was looked after her as if she was a member of the family.

Every room is spotlessly clean, with hot running water and a great view of the fort.

Internet access is available and a laundry service.

Tremendous value for money (our four night stay cost about £18 per night) and they didn't even request a deposit!

We were invited to a family wedding which was a very special experience.

I cannot recommend this place enough!

Our visit to Rajasthan has been quite a memorable one and Jodhpur has contributed to a great extent. We were visiting Jodhpur for just a day and really enjoyed our short stay at the Jee Ri Haveli.
I came to know of this accomodation from TripAdvisor members and thought I would give that a try. The owners running the place were extremely friendly and provided helpful suggestions about going around the place. The room and bathroom were clean and was ready when we arrived after a long tiresome journey. This hotel has the best view in Jodhpur as far as I observed. The view from the terrace was a real treat. Food was tasty and hygienic and prices were quite reasonable. The best part about this place is the family running the place. They really make you feel at home and take care of all your needs with utmost importance. I would like to specially mention Himanshu here whom I found to be extremely friendly and good at heart. Although the room was missing a television, it didn't really matter much to us as we stayed for just a day before we left for Jaisalmer. From the terrace we get the best view of the Mehrangar Fort, jaswant thada and Umaid Bhavan. In front of the hotel there is a gulaab sagar lake which is an added advantage. If you visit Jodhpur, do check out Jee Ri Haveli first before you decide to stay elsewhere. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Jee Ri Haveli is the best place to stay in Rajasthan. The guest house is run by a warm and helpful family. They have treated us as if we were family. They always make sure that everything is the way it ought to be and if not they will make it better. They have given us a real impression of an Indian family and it would not have been possible in any other way. If we ever come to Rajasthan again we will definitely visit this family again.
The rooms are lovely. The one we stayed in had a nice little detail with a sort of couch in the wall where you can sit and enjoy your evening tea with a great view of the fort. The food in their rooftop restaurant is delicious and almost everything can be made for you. The service is excellent and always with a smile.
I will never forget the evening hours we spent with the family in their living room just talking.
It is especially a good place for people who would like an impression of Indian lifestyle.

The hospitality of this place, ran by a friendly family who leaves next door, made us feel, from the very beginning part of them. The rooms and bathrooms, spotless clean, are bright and ours had a balcony with great views of the city lake and fort.

The incredible rooftop, with almost 365 degrees views, is a great option to relax and eat homemade food. They even showed us the kitchen, very clean as well, where they use mineral water to wash food. A large menu, tasty food.

There are also available internet and laundry services and, the location, in a quiet street 3 minutes walk from the Clock Tower, make this place the best option to stay for a bugget-midrange accommodation.

I had my first visit to India this summer and it was a trip I´ll never forget. We came to Jodhpur with our travel agent and was very curious about what this city had to offer us.
We stayed at Jee Ri Haveli and got surprised by the Indian hospitality. The family who runs the Hotel is a very friendly and warming family. They took very good care of me and my friend and gave us good advice about the city and the people in India.
They also took the time to show us one of Jodhpurs Temple, which we will never forget - and no they didn´t take extra charges for giving us that service.
The rooms are very clean and beautiful. We slept in the big room with a fantastic view to the fort.
The food is excellent and on time, and you can order almost anything, and they will find it to you.
We stayed at the Hotel for one week, and we felt like we were family friends/guests. The family always took the time to answer all the different kind of questions we had.

So all in all is Jee Ri Haveli a very nice and comfortable place to stay in Jodhpur. For a little amount of money you really get 100 % luxury. I´m sure that you wouldn´t regret it, if you stay here.
Thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Hi,Im just back from a week long holiday, went to Udaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur. Just want to tell you all who are reading this, Jee ri Haveli is the best place to live in if you ever go to Jodhpur. The room we lived in if I remember too well, was no. 301,It has a beautiful view of the lake, it was quite big,Done up very neatly,it has a big seat with bolsters at the window, sitting there made me feel nothing less than a Maharani (a queen) and more than anything else the room was really very very clean. The roof top restaurant serves some lovely food, you must try their dal fry and jeera rice, i loved it, the makhaniya lassi here is simply out of the world, Himanshu's mom makes it herself, moreover there is a personal touch to it. I have tried the Mishrilal makhaniya lassi at the clock tower but this is just too good, maybe Mishrilal should come over and take some lassi making lessons from Himanshu's mom. Aunty something just came to my mind, i really think you should open a shop selling Makhaniya lassi, well i didnt mention this to you while i was there, but i think you should really think about it, and yes maybe also teach people how to cook the yummy food you serve. There are so many who would simply love to learn cooking from you, well i surely would , if only i had a little more time on hand. The view of the majestic fort from the roof top is just awesome, it simply takes your breath away.I remember having dinner with my husband there at the roof top one night, it was the cosiest dinner i have ever shared with him, just the two of us and The Mehrangarh fort at a distance. The family who owns it, makes you feel like you're just at home, Himanshu on the whole is really helpful, he's a very polite person and willing to help at all times,he's always smiling, everybody loves a happy ,polite person at all times, his dad is really funny and a very honest man, he can just make you laugh, not everyone has this ability, Pragya, Himanshu's sister is also very sweet.I have visited so many places in India, lived at many hotels, but never have I felt at home anywhere.Jee ri Haveli is truly a home away from home.I would strongly recommend this place to everyone, if i ever happen to go to Jodhpur again i will definitely go there.

Just excellent accommodation with one of the best views in India. We stayed here for only 1 night but didn't need to stay longer. Jodhpur can be done and dusted in one day.

The Hotel is spotless the Roof Restaurant is good (and reasonable) the Hotel owner is great. This is a new venture for him and he is doing it perfectly. The Photos I am posting were all taken from our Room or Balcony and the Hotel web site tells no lies. I have rated it as excellent with one caveat which is there are no Safe in the Room. I would expect all Accommodation in India to have a Safe and they are often missing. No doubt, he will read this and sort out that little issue before next Season. The AC, Power and Water were all OK while we were there and the AC is new and quiet.

The price is just right 1500 inr per Night. I would not expect it to go up much and if it had been more, I would not have been so inclined to give it an excellent rating. This is the place to stay in Jodhpur. It is a very short walk to the Market and Clock Tower and you can even walk back from the Fort if you are feeling like an adventure. The local area is typical India and I counted 12 cows outside in the morning. There are some steep steps to go up into the hotel so this is not for the disabled. We stayed in Room 301 and it is very recommended. Absolutely.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently, and we were very impressed. In fact, this is probably our favorite haveli during our 2 week journey through Rajasthan. It is clean, well-equipped, quiet and is owned by a great, friendly and helpful family. The room made us feel like we're a Rajput price and princess, with view of the massive fort towering over the city, which can be taken in either from a large balcony, or from a great little alcove with a sitting area and stained glass. We would sit in the alcove at sunset and read our books, looking out over the town from time to time. It was really priceless. It's really worth getting a room with view of the fort.

The location of the hotel is very good, situated on a quiet street right on the lake, just a couple minutes walk from the chaos of the clock tower. I don't think any other hotel in Jodhpur can match the view or the location. The rooftop restaurant is spectacular and offers great food which is as safe as can be in India.

Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Himanshu and his family made our stay at the Jee Ri Haveli an unforgettable experience for all the right reasons. They are a very hospitable family and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The haveli is a very comfortable place and our room (301) was a great size with air con, a large shower room and best of all super views from our spacious balcony overlooking the fort and lake. There is also a very big communal roof terrace with again fantastic views towards all the sights, the fort, the clocktower, market and the royal palace. Mrs Tak and her daughter's cooking is also a delight. We stayed for 3 nights initially booking for 2 and had all meals here and were never disappointed! The haveli has been running for just 6 months and we wish the Tak family all the best for the future and are sure it will be a roaring success.

Our stay here at Jee Ri Haveli was a very good experience... The family that owns the hotel were very friendly...

They treated us so nice... They gave us the best treatment we have got so far here in Rajasthan...

One of us (we are 3 girls) got very sick and the hotel manager immediately took her to the doctor...
He stayed with her all 3 hours even though it was very late in the evening.

Thank you....!!!
We are so thankful

Jee Ri Haveli is a very nice, clean haveli with a great family touch. This is the type of place where you will definitely be greeted warmly at the door, and perhaps even invited in for a cup of tea. Himanshu and his family will definitely make sure you have everything that you need during your stay.

The Details:

Room: My top-floor room was spacious, cool, and had a great view of the citadel and fountain from my window and balcony. My room didn't have a TV or AC, but I think other rooms do. (It was cool and breezy, so I wouldn't have used the AC).

Food: The food at the rooftop restaurant was very fresh and well-prepared, and the view was amazing! Also, they *do* have beer which I was happy about. (I do wish they add a canopy soon so we can enjoy it more during the hot times of the day.)

Location: Its situated really close to the clock tower right on the fountain square. You can walk pretty much anywhere from the old city.

Overall, this is a really great place to stay!

I heartily recommend this great guest house/hotel in the heart of Jodhpur! I am here for 2 months and it has truly become my son's & my 'home away from home'. Jee Ri Haveli is centrally situated in the old city, close to the Sagar Market and Clock Tower. My balcony & several windows in our room have a fabulous view of the Mehranghar Fort, the lake Gulab Sagar and activities in the town. However, the best part is the family who run the guest house who, in every respect, are service-oriented and make you feel completely comfortable, responding courteously & promptly to all requests. Both the food at the rooftop restaurant and the view are wonderful. Great place to stay!

Jee Ri Haveli has a perfect location in Jodphur - with a stunning view of the grand fort from the rooftop restaurant (and from some of the rooms) -- just a short walk to the main market at the clock tower, and the streets that snake through the blue city up to the fort. My room was clean, roomy and very nicely appointed - I had a bathroom with hot water shower and western toilet - and the food was very very good. But what makes Jee Ri stand out from all others is that it is run by perhaps the nicest family in all of India. The whole family makes you feel that there home is your home, they are very conversant and have wonderful sense of humor. Meeting this family is a highlight of my trip to India. I recommend Jee Ri whole-heartedly.

My boyfriend and I happened upon Jee Ri Haveli upon our arrival in Jodhpur. We didn't have a reservation anywhere, but when we saw the view from Jee Ri Haveli, we were sold. The view is really amazing - full on view of the fort over the Gulab Sagar lake, with a balcony! It's also really close to the clocktower, so it's very central. The room itself was brand new, spotless, and had a great cushioned window seat for reading, with a view of the fort. I recommend everything about it.

But the main thing that makes me remember this hotel as fondly as I do is the wonderful family that owns it. They were all incredibly friendly and warm to us, making sure to ask us several times if there was anything we needed. My boyfriend was sick during our time in Jodhpur so we spent more time at the hotel than we normally would have, and the family showed a lot of concern for his health, even offering to take us to their family doctor.

By the second day of our stay, we took them up on their offer. Himanshu insisted on accompanying us there, without us asking him to or anything - it made the whole experience *much* easier and less worrisome - he even got us into the doctor quickly, we didn't have to wait in line.

We found it really interesting to talk to them about their lives there, and they even invited me into their home for tea one evening.

I would recommend this clean, charming, friendly haveli to anyone, it was truly one of the best parts of my trip to India.

It would seem that the different reviewers all have a different take on this place. This place is not an havali/hotel but a guest house. We had 3 nights at the jee ri and I reckon it was fine, but we did get a good room, and we were shown what was available and got to choose the best in our price range, the worst was small and did not have a window, (same price as ours) and I would not have been happy with that one but obviously some one got it. The room itself was clean, good bed and bath, good ac.
The roof top restaurant had a GREAT view over the city and it's sights, one of the most special views you can imagine.
The food was ok, not cheap, but ok. The boss does charge 14% vat which I concluded included a 10% service charge, so I did not tip.
The location of this joint makes it very attractive, you are 5 minutes from the bazaar, you over look the cities water supply,(although filthy), and less than one minute away is a 500 year old stepwell, not even mentioned in the lonely planet. We took a auto rickshaw to the fort and there is a well used footpath back down the hill in the direction of the guest house. I really enjoyed the stay at the Jee Ri.

When you go the city like Jodhpur, you don't want the pleasure, ambience and hospatility of five star hotels that you will find easily in cities like Delhi. Infect you want to go very far from that.

You want a place that will be different from youreveryday home/city. A traditional place, with view of lacals in both eyes. Taste of local food in every bite you eat and Famiely touch in every talk you have.

Jee Rai Haveli, Jodhpur is exactly like that place with view of Mehrangarh Fort, Jasvant Hada and Ummed Bhawan Palace and Gulab Saga Lake down the railing of your room. You will get the Family touch with Mr. Himanshu Tonk ( Owner) in Bonus. Take Rooms with fort view and don't forget to have early morning tea on Terrace. You will love the view.

Have two full days. First day for Ummed Bhawan Palace, Mehran Garh fort and Jasvant Hada. Do some shopping ( ask Himanshu for right shops) and go for a movie ( night show. Main Market and Satyam Cineplex is on walking distance.

Second day for OSIAN Desert and Mandor Fort and Garden. Eat Rajasthani Food ( you can tell to Mr. Himanshu) and enjoy.

Jee Ri Haveli is a nice hotel. The location is in the old city of Jodhpur, great location ... 5 minutes walking distance to the clock tower (I'm pretty sure that it's not 2km like what the other reviewer wrote here) which is one of the main attractions in Jodhpur.
The room is very clean ! Very Cool AC and beautiful view of the Merangarh Fort from the room window. It has one of the best view in Jodhpur.

When you walk outside the hotel, of course you will find many cows and the not so-clean environment. But I think it's normal because Jodhpur itself is not one clean city.

The owners, Himansu and his family were very helpful with everything. They also arrange a Bishnoi village tour for us for a decent price. Overall we are very satisfied with Jee Ri Haveli.
Surely we will stay in this hotel again when we come to Jodhpur in the next future.

One problem that we had was the internet connection. It was not working when we were there. But in all of 11 days in India, all hotels that we stayed in, only one hotel that could provide an Internet connection.

I went with my family to Jee ri haveli last Diwali. At first, finding Jee ri haveli was tough but the owner came midway on his 2 wheeler & guided us thru narrow streets. My daughter was completely put off seeing the dirty streets, the narrow hotel & the filthy lake in front. Rooms are not good but location is mind-blowing...right in front of the Fort! Ask for the room that faces the Fort. And as we came to know Himanshu (owner's son) well, we started looking at the place differently.

A posh hotel only keeps us isolated from reality. Himanshu's hotel, by the virtue of it's location offers us an insight into the reality of Jodhpur. Behind Jee ri haveli is the clock tower. Cross it & you can treat yourself to the best-ever Pyaj ki kachori (on right side of the road)!! Further ahead at the end of the road (quite a distance) is a large sweet shop Poker sweets, where you can gorge on whatever yu want. It's crowded. You'll all agree, we travel to experience the place & it's people. On Diwali there were many foreign tourists alongwith us at this hotel. Himanshu got us home food, sweets & also firecrackers!!! On the terrace all of were having a gala time. Who does this??

He organises local tours . His people are good. Our tour into vilages was great! He guided us as to till what level we could take our car while everyone told us to take the auto. All in all, a wonderful person.

I'd recommend.

The owners Mr Himanshu, his father & sister were very humble & warm. Helped us access different places, mentioned the shopping areas. Very helpful indeed.

The hotel was also quick at its service. All in all a gr8 experience would definitely recommend it to people visiting Jodhpur.

Being a photographer, the location was superb, just a short walk from the markets and clock tower with stunning sunset and sunrise views of the fort from the balcony and the rooftop restaurant. We arranged an airport pickup which made it easy to find the haveli although I don't think we would have had any trouble finding it. Sure - some of the surrounding areas were dusty and dirty , but this is India and you can't experience the real India cocooned in a 5 star hotel. On Himanshu's recommendation we walked down from the fort back to the haveli and came across an amazing wedding ceremony which really made our stay .

The hotel owners made arrangements for us to travel about the places. Also arranged for drop to the station at 5 am in morning and was also there early in the morning to send us on our way.

Cons :

I ended my holiday in India with a short stay in Jodhpur, the hot season (April) was not the best time for visiting this region. However, my stay at Jee Ri Haveli made all the difference.
This B&B is not a 5 star hotel, but was the best guesthouse I stayed in Rajasthan. My room was large and luminous, with small details in the basic decoration and very clean, plenty of hot water, amazing breakfast, day tour by rickshaw with reasonable price (300 Rs).
I should mention that I was lucky enough to have an amazing view to the lac and fort, I could see this world heritage monument even from my bed, and for 1800 Rs it was a bargain.
Last but no least, the rooftop offers a 360 view of all town.
Definitely, the warm welcoming from the family running this simple but cozy place has a touch of Rajasthan hospitality.

While on a three week tour of Rajasthan we stayed at Jee Ri Haveli for a couple of nights, and were pleased we had chosen it. The family run business is in a very convenient part of the old city for getting into the market area, and has the most spectacular views from the rooftop terrace. The room we had was clean, had a wet room and good quality linen and towels. The staff were most obliging and laundry was done very quickly and for a most reasonable price. Breakfast was good and I can certainly recommend the porridge. A really big bonus is that you get 24 hour FREE wifi connection, which is so good, and only wish that more places did the same. The view from the terrace at any time of the day is stunning, especially early morning to get the best pics of the Meherangarh Fort, or in the evening to capture the sunset. There is a 360 degree view, and you can see the local life going on below you, and the green parakeets coming for food in the trees close by. Close by is a really deep step well.Certainly worth taking a look at, though you could easily miss it, so do ask about it. We would certainly stay at this haveli should we return to Jodhpur and if you want a friendly small guest house that feels as though you are staying in a friend's home this is the place to stay.

My partner and I stayed one night at Jee ri Haveli, Jodhpur, on our way back to Delhi from Jaisalmer. Jee ri Haveli is run by Himanshu Tak, who is a warm and attentive host. He went out of his way to ensure that we were taken care of.

The hotel is actually a converted family home. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a small balcony and a little seating area near the window. It had no frills, but had everything we needed.

Jee re Haveli is located right in the center of the old city. So if you want to be walking distance to the bustling center of town, then this is a perfect location. However, bustling also means crowded and noisy -- if you prefer peace and quiet and wide roads, then try another part of town. The Haveli is normally also convenient to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort; but because of a damaged road, the access to the fort was blocked, and we actually had to drive all the way round town, 15 kms, to get there. Still, that was hardly the fault of the hotel.

The best part of the hotel is the view of the fort from the rooftop restaurant -- we got to see a spectacular sunset -- and Himanshu's hospitality. Others have commented negatively on this, and it is true that he is sometimes over anxious to please. But that really is a function, I believe, of his hospitality. Indeed, on our first evening there, when everything on the restaurant menu seemed too much like hotel food for our taste, Himanshu went to his house and brought us some wonderful home cooked parathas that he and his family had for dinner earlier in the evening. Delicious!

All in all, a most comfortable stay, if you like the bustle of an old small Indian town and if the location suits you.

I booked the Jee Ri Haveli after reading the very positive reviews in Trip Advisor - in particular the comments about how accommodating Himanshu, the Manager was. I can confirm he did not disappoint, nor did the rest of his family and staff.

Firstly, Himanshu responded to my accommodation request within 1 hour of emailing, which I was very impressed with. This impression has not faltered since. Once we arrived, we were given a room with an amazing view of the Mehrangarh Fort and the old city below. He arranged for a table to be set up on the balcony for our first dinner in Jodhpur, overlooking the fort - complete with waiter service. There is also a rooftop restaurant, and we have enjoyed the food there.

Secondly, Himanshu was the catalyst in ensuring our Rajasthan adventure remained on course in a short time frame. Our train tickets to Agra were not confirmed and all fights were booked out, however Himanshu had vital advice which backpackers would not normally be aware of to ensure that we were able to get on that train. Had he not helped us, we would not had enough time to see the Taj Mahal which would have been quite devastating!

The family were very accommodating to us, providing us with extra (unrequested) blankets as the temperature was unusually cool. They invited Himanshu's sister to the Haveli to teach us how to cook local vegetarian dishes. They took us into their private home for chai and chat.

Room-wise, the rooms were pleasant, very clean and attended to daily. There was air-con and hot water in the room, and also a safe. As I said earlier, the view from the room was so amazing it took our breath away. The food was good value and it was great to have a meal in the sun on the rooftop (the highest in Jodhpur, with the best panoramic views of the fort). For those who aren't Kingfisher fans, the wine whilst local was very nice! :)

We found the Haveli to be a very welcome oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of the old town. If you want to stay in a guest house with a difference, we recommend you stay here. You will leave with (almost) a new family, as well as that amazing view etched in your mind.

We reached Jodhpur by car and were a little lost finding our way to the hotel so we called and Hemanshu was there in ten minutes to pick us up. He ordered lunch on his mobile after taking our preference to save time and ensure we reached the fort well before closing time at 17:00. Delicious lunch was ready at the roof-top restaurant when we reached the hotel. It was a clean place, very nicely located on the banks of the Gulab Sagar with a view of the fort, with quaint little balconies above the busy street. They organized a local tuk tuk for us that got us to the fort in ten minutes for a small sum of Rupees 50. The family also organizes guided trips at fixed rates if you wish to take them. Dinner was too rich and a little disappointing but since food is cooked fresh we could have told them how we liked it. We were leaving the next morning for Jaisalmer and got our breakfast on time. A hotel staffperson was sent to escort us to the point where the road forked for Jaisalmer. On the whole a short but pleasant stay.

We reached Jee Ri Haveli with almost zero expectations and were pleasantly surprised with more. Our stay at this place was nice and comfortable. the rooms are neat and clean with good facilities and very spacious. Our Delux room had a fabulous view of the fort and the room also had a french window kind of a thing which we all fell in love with at first sight.

Our hosts Himanshu and his dad were extremely polite and helpful and helped us arrange our sightseeing. We discussed all costs about this prior to the trip over email regd this.

The food here was absolutely delicious and they served us even at 11 pm in the night as we arrived late.

Though the entrance to the place is a little unimpressive, once inside you will surely enjoy the hospitality and the stay.

We stayed at Jee Ri Haveli for one night during our travels. The reservation was made via their website and I received a prompt response from the lovely Himanshu (the young man who runs the guesthouse). On arrival at the railway station the driver that Himanshu had arranged was waiting and the journey time approx 15 mins; the guesthouse is located very close to the clock tower just inside the old town. We had a lake/fort facing room which had a narrow balcony. Breakfast and dinner were taken on the rooftop restaurant and the food was simple but tasty. Local beer and wine was available. Our travel plans the following day were thwarted by a huge train delay (due to an accident) and Himanshu made regular checks with the railway authorities in order to facilitate our constantly changing plans! He even made available a private room for us to use so that we could freshen up/change before we eventually departed some five hours late. Despite his best efforts, the train was delayed further and we still missed our flight to Varanasi the next morning. Never mind, stuff happens! A great little guesthouse, in a convenient location - you can even sit on the roof top and just watch the comings and goings of the street life below.

I stayed here for 2 nights. Clean and good-sized bedrooms and bathrooms although I didn't have hot water at some point - I think they have to put a main boiler on somewhere.

Really liked the fact that the doors would open out to balconies plus my friends' had a room with a window seat. Superbe view of the city from the roof restaurant and the hotel overlooks a small ornamental lake. Good location as 2 minutes walk from the Clock Tower market area.

The family who owned the haveli were great - really friendly and attentive. They never frowned, even when we invaded their living quarters to use the internet!

The hotel is in the middle of the old city near a so called "lake" and looking the fort from downthere. It's absolutely clean (we still remember the "cleaning perfume") and the rooms as very beautiful. If you want a great view the best options is the one in the corner at the last floor. It's a family hotel managed by brother and sister really nice and helpfull but the best one is the old father: you have to talk with him (so funny), you'll find him in the rear apartment. You can have great food on the terrace, good option exspecially at night.

Firstly, I must apologize to all incl. Pragya for this delayed review.

When I arrived in Jodhpur and was taken by an auto thru the small lanes, I was worried whether I had made the right choice. My photo shoot trip till this point had been excellent in terms of hotels (Pushkar). When I climbed up the narrow flight of stairs, little did I expect that Himanshu and his motley help will change my mind over the next day or two.

Inside the room was a different story, clean and hygienic. Bathrooms were par above the course for such hotels... a luxury treat. What struck me the most was the view of the fort - breathtaking... that is what I was here for.

Coming to the food... I sincerely recommend the local flavour.. I tried the gatte ka saag and wow... Pragya' was getting married in a few days and yet she found the time to cook up some delicious meals.

The roof top restaurant at the night is a must.. The view of Jaswant Thadda excellent. My only suggestion to Himanshu is to provide a ladder access to the roof where photo enthusiasts can shoot their hearts content.. Amazing views.

Service.. swift...Well they charge you for the odd jobs ... like ticket bookings but they are not unreasonable...Much better than many 5 star travel agents... And who will run out for you to buy for you the special kersanghri achar for your daughter. Well here's a family who knows how to make you smile... If only we could live up to our promises like them (Pragyas photo is ready but I havent yet posted it.).

One interesting fact... the family loves James Bond and all their no.'s end with 007. I wish them the very best in shooting down the opposition and winning away hearts.

I will go back with my family for sure. Hope they remain untouched by time.. and I dont mind the narrow approach road anymore..

We stayed at Ji Ree on the 21st and 22nd December 2008
after a tiring journey for a week through Rajasthan we were so relieved when Himanthsu and his family welcomed us into their home.
All I can say is that after staying at some top hotels including the Taj in agra, this was by far a more memorable experience than any of the other places. The food was excellent-definitely try the chicken and vegetable rice dish, the views were spectacular, and the rooms spacious and clean.
Location is amazing with a brisk walk into town and lovely views of the fort.
Above all what stood out for us most was meeting the family and they made us feel like we were a part of the family.I loved talking with the family and hearing about all the interesting customs, dances, marriage etc.etc.
Such a beautiful loving family and they all take such pride in providing a unique experience to us travelers.
So if you want a true Indian experience at the roots level, living with local people as well as a comfortable place to stay in jodphur then I would say this is a pick above the rest.

I will be writing to lonely planet to suggest that they be an entry-they deserve it!

Thanks you Himantshu for welcome us into your home with open heart.

Location:
Jee Ri is 5min away from the Clock Tower and opposite a small lake. The location is near to other havelis, and we found that the walk into the town was less than 5 min.

Room:
Fresh paint and neutral decor are the plus points, Our 'double room' consisted of two single beds pushed together, with a multitude of switches - some that operated the lights, the fan and others that were redundant.
The bathroom was a little cramped, but the plus point was the HOT water from the shower - a welcome relief to anyone that has spent a day out.

Other:
The family running the place were excellent. Himanshu welcomed us with a cold drink and a garland of flowers - a first!
The terrace offers great views of the Fort, Cenotaph and Palace. Food there was tasty and a great place to view the sunset.

Overall the place was boosted by the owners, and it is them that have resulted in this place getting such a high rating. The rooms could do with some minor improvements, and you should be prepared to accept traffic noise if you stay here.

An unassuming set of stairs led us to the main entrance of what was to be one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Rajasthan. Set in the heart of the city, Jee Ri Haveli seemed to be quite accessible from where the tourist bus dropped us. The warm reception that we got, set the tone for rest of our stay.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the hotel happens to be the picturesque view of the majestic Mehrangad fort and the refreshing Gulab Sagar tank that the rooms open to. The beautifully designed door and windows lend a royal feel to comfortable room fitted with all essential modern amenities. The mini Baithak in our room complete with tainted glass windows transformed the look of the room, making us believe that we were a part of the regal brigade. The roof-top dinner complemented our fairy tale like stay in this hotel.

The Jee Ri family exuded warmth and ensured complete comfort to all its guests, even if that meant going out of the way to cater to the guests’ requirements.

Best part of the stay -
1. Indian Food
2. Roof top restaurant and majestic views
3. Owners are very friendly and honest, homely atmosphere
4. proximity to the main markets and located in the mid of the city.

Note that the location / surroundings of teh hotel are not that clean and one has to go thorugh narrow lanes and if it rains then its all mess......

Things to improve are include : - 24 hours power backup shoudl be there, intercom facility in every room, TV with a cable connection in every room, wall clock.

I was quite relieved at how my stay at this place turned out because first impressions were not great.
Overall it is not perfectly clean, but ok for Indian standards.
Room 301 had nice balconies with great views for 270 degrees. The views from the room and the restaurant are the main selling point for the hotel.
The bed was comfortable but my sleep was interrupted by loud train horns that went on for long periods of each night (you would hear this noise anywhere in Jodhpur not just this hotel).
We checked out at 7am and there was no hot water at thsi time of day.
The restaurant makes nice food at above average prices, but it is still cheap for westerners.
The location is good - a short walk to the bazaar.
The staff are very friendly (maybe too friendly sometimes) and they try hard.
The internet is free.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and those not looking for western standards or prices will find this hotel comfortable.

We had arranged a pick up from the train station as our train arrived at 11pm and were very pleased when they offered to keep the hotel restuarant open for us way past the closing time.

The location was amazing and we had a great view of the Fort and overlooking the reservoir.

Unfortunately there was quite a lot of noise from outside (trains and traffic), which didnt assist with sleeping.

Honestly, we did not stay in the roo long enough to give much information about the Jee Ri Haveli, however if defiitely served our purpose. We got into Jodphur in the evening and only stayed there one night. We arrived tired and hungry, so it was wonderful that the hotel staff was able to accomodate us and serve dinner at the rooftop restaurant. The food was ok, the open-air rooftop location was a nice respite from all the travelling. We had breakfast the next morning before we left for sightseeing (see my reviewof the fort). The rooms were clean and the furnishings very simple although my bf thought the stark white walls and sparse furniture reminded him of a hospital room. Our room had windows that opened up onto a slender balcony overlooking a small lake and it had a window seat. All in all, the rooms are nothing to rave about. I agree with the reviews regarding the friendliness of Himanshu and the staff. They really go out of their way to share their hospitality with all of their guests and they seem to take genuine pride in Jee Ri Haveli!

We stayed at Jee Ri Haveli a couple of nights and thought it was a pleasant place to stay in Jodphur. Our room was a good size, clean and had a great view of the Fort. The family gave us a warm welcome and seemed keen to make our visit a comfortable and enjoyable one. It was considerably more expensive than places we'd stayed in Pushkar and Udaipur - both of which had more character as well as a wonderful view. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner on the rooftop terrace when it was cooler, however it is unshaded during the day so we went elsewhere for respite from the afternoon heat. We found the food to be a bit hit and miss, some dishes were fine others not good at all which was surprising as we ate only Indian food! The all-inclusive breakfast was ok, the first morning it was inadequate though the second day we were given more substantial fare. Our overwhelming impression of our stay was that the family running the hotel were not very experienced and came across as over anxious about whether we were happy or not. Having been to India on a number of occasions and stayed in a variety of small family-run hotels, we would not say that it's as wonderful as some of the previous reviewers have suggested. There's nothing wrong with this hotel per se, but it does lack the atmosphere that makes a great place to stay.

I have just returned from my tour of Rajasthan and would like to contribute to this thread.

At Jodhpur, I stayed at Jee Ri Haveli and didn't have a very pleasant experience.

Of course the guy who runs the place is very hospitable, however the cleanliness of the rooms leave a lot to be desired.

Jee Ri Haveli is not a Haveli per se. The definition of what a Haveli is can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haveli

Jee Ri is a narrow three story building right beside the filthy Gulab Sagar tank. The Gulab Sagar is smack bang in the old walled city with its narrow, noisy and dirty streets.

The moment I checked-in, the staff was all too eager to take me up to the roof-top so that they could proudly show me the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the Umaid Bhavan Palace.

Both Mehrangarh and Jaswant Thada are so close that you could almost touch them. However, the Umaid Bhavan Palace is about 15-20 minutes away.

A word of caution: do not order any food at Jee Ri (both from the restaurant and room service). I made that mistake and spent most of the night on the porcelain throne :P

The more we did not expect is that when we check-out, the boss said, the 30% discount only on the food we took. (which means if we do not take food in this hotel, there is no 30% at all.) So what boss said when we check-in it's totally lie.

We were in Jaipur in a heritage hotel and we had an awesome time at the hotel. Thus, we had lots of expectations from this place as the hotel is also called a heritage hotel, but it did not turn out to be anything heritage. Also the price they charge for this place 1800 rupees (45 odd dollars) is very expensive for jodhpur, especially for the rooms and service this hotel provides. The room is pretty basic by Indian standards. For me, the price to utility ratio for this hotel is low. I would rather stay at many other options in the city. Also the old man who is friendly, was trying to sell me a trip and on enquiring in the city the price he was quoting was pretty high. Other small things, the hotel did not provide shampoo, cleaning was not done on one of the days.
Also, the room did not have a phone and one had to go outside to order food or for any other needs.
The view was definitely good, but the pond is not very pretty if you go outside. So, that negates the view.

This is the most difficult review I’ve ever tried to write after 10 years of travelling in India because staying in Ji Ree Haveli was such a bizarre experience. I really want to be generous and to say positive things about this B & B because I believe that Himansu and his father are keen to give their guests an enjoyable stay, but our time here was the worst – and most expensive – part of our 4 week trip.

Whilst they are very well-meaning, Himansu and his Father don’t really have a grasp of how to run a B & B in a professional way, and that means that things can either go very well or very badly wrong - what can to one person seem charmingly informal will seem extremely amateur to another. I can now understand the contradictory reviews Jee Ri Haveli receives and why some people enjoy their stay but others leave feeling angry and cheated. We definitely fell into the latter category, our experience being very similar to that of “Wooo” (see review Jul 2008).

First, the positives.

•The place is very clean (although when my husband patted the cushion in the window seat of our super deluxe room he almost choked on the clouds of dust).
•The bathrooms and hot water supply are very good.
•The location is excellent, and the rooms have very good views
•Himansu and his Father are very thoughtful. For example, when there was a noisy wedding party in the street which was due to go on till the early hours they moved us to a quiet room without us having to ask, and were most apologetic for the disruption.

The negatives:

•The room rate is very expensive for the facilities and level of service on offer. We paid around half this price to stay in the Pearl Palace in Jaipur and the two experiences are totally beyond comparison. Jee Ri Haveli more closely resembles a “homestay” than a B & Bl, but with hotel prices.
•The trips Himansu organises are vastly overpriced, a fact which he almost gives away himself by constantly emphasising how reasonablly priced they are. Having been let down at the last minute by the company we’d booked a Bishnoi Village / camel trek tour with, we allowed ourselves to be talked into Himansu’s tour, which was absolutely extortionately priced and also very “touristy”. The cost of his autorickshaw tour of the city (Fort, the New Palace and the Mausoleum) is also vastly inflated – no rickshaw of any kind anywhere in India costs Rs500 for 2 hours!!
•Himansu and his father really don’t like to talk about money and are at pains to let you know that “Jee Ri Haveli is not a hotel, it is your home”. This lack of transparency is in fact the main problem with their management of the place and it can often lead to misunderstandings. For example, they will offer you services or things to eat or drink which will appear to be gifts but which will then appear on your bill - and which will be very expensive.
•The service in the restaurant is very poor. I don’t think we had a single meal there where all of the dishes we ordered actually arrived – although we were charged for them. We ordered the Indian breakfast every morning of our stay but on one occasion we wanted extra coffee so we asked for Indian breakfast with a double pot of coffee. When we checked out we found we’d actually been charged for each breakfast item individually, which added up to almost twice as much as an “Indian Breakfast” plus another pot of coffee. This was apparently because because "an Indian Breakfast has only a single pot of coffee"! I’m still not sure whether this was disingenuous or a simple misunderstanding.
•Himansu can appear a little obsequious and both his and his Father’s behaviour verges on the intrusive & irritating at times. For example, when we were preparing to leave Himansu kept reminding us to tip the boys for the services they’d provided and then he and his Father watched over us while we did it. We do always tip the staff but I found their insistence extremely annoying, especially in view of the numerous hidden costs we’d just discovered on our bill!

Tips for an enjoyable stay:
•Make sure you know in advance what you’re paying for. Internet use & laundry are very expensive but the charges are not mentioned or displayed anywhere. Be aware that everything you are offered from the kitchen will be charged for (including curd & pickle) and it won’t be cheap. All of the negative reviews of Ji Ree Haveli I’ve seen have been cost-related and our experience backs this up.
•Don’t use Himansu to organise your tours. Either get yourself a rickshaw from the street or arrange taxis & tours through the RTDC.
•Don’t mistake Himansu’s shy manner and over-anxiousness to please for real obsequiousness, he really is a decent man. He just needs to be more confident about charging for food and services so that he doesn’t mislead his guests unnecessarily, which can cause bad feeling. Having spent half an hour one day helping him with a phishing email he’d received I certainly felt let down when I found we’d been charged Rs30 to send a two-line email to our B & B in Delhi the next.

All in all, we had a very confusing stay here. On the one hand, and certainly initially, we felt as though we were being treated as guests in someone’s home – which is I think the experience Himansu wants to provide – but this only made us feel doubly deceived when we saw the final bill containing all of the extra charges.

I have tried to make this review as fair as possible but I realise I’ve listed more negatives here than positives – unfortunately this was a true reflection of our experience. I do think it’s perfectly possible to have a very enjoyable stay here, but it will largely depend on a combination of luck and the services you use. Personally I’d chose Haveli Inn Pal or Pal Haveli (both nearby), or Ratan Vilas (for a quieter stay in a more peaceful location).

We stayed here for 2 nights. Our driver got as a decent rate on one of the AC rooms for 500 rs a night due to the low season.

I agree with the other commentors that the family running place the place are mostly nice, but they are inexperienced and our stay here came to a rather bitter end when we saw the total bill and the chargs on it.

Firstly, the rooms are spotlessly clean, showers are all nice and powerful and I can't really fault the rooms (except ours didn't have a window...). The food is average- curries etc are all rather good, but the parathas and subsidiary parts of a meal are bland and boring. A lot of indian folks I know have stuffed paratha for breakfast but from here it didnt really tast of much.

The reason I give this place a 3* is because of the 'extra' charges that were not made clear to us at the beginning of the stay.

Example 1: internet is 50 rupees an hour, no big deal if you're aware of it before you log on. We were not so had a 200 rs extra charge.

Example 2: Laundry... they charge 30 RUPEES PER ITEM, which is an incredible amount for the mdiocre job they do. Our laundry bill came to a staggering 630 rs, where the week before it was 210 rs (and done better) at a different guesthouse. The charge is the same whether the item is a 9 metre silk sari, or a pair of socks. This was a rather large shock and coupled with the internet charges, added a hefty amount to the total. I queried this figure and basically told them it was BS and felt like they were over-charging me due to the low season and the room rate garnered by our silver-tongued driver, they didn't exactly disagre with this either.

Example 3: A smaller niggle, but a niggle nonetheless. Archar (the spicy pickle red stuff) is 25 rs per helping even though it isn't on the menu. I had this removed from the bill because it, again, was BS and is rather like charging ppl for salt & vinegar, or ketchup or whatever lse when you go out for dinner. This felt like another way to rack up any lost earnings in the quiet season.

Example 4: We wanted to post an item. Management said that for 150 rs they would 'do the process' for me. The process consists of filling out a customs form, weighing the box, then shipping it, taking about 10 minutes. This price idn't include the wrapping charge of the item. I paid 20rs for the rickshaw, 80 for the packing, then 20rs back to the hotel. They wanted 150 rs for signing the forms alone- no transport and no wrapping.

Example 5: To see the sights, they said they could hire a rickshaw for 200 rs, a "very good price". Again, i knew this was false so went outside, took 15 steps to the right to the rickshaw lineup and got a shaw to the fort for 30 rs, then i got one back to the hotel for 20 rs. I asked how much to the palace and the driver said 40rs there and back, making the total 90 rupees... 200? You're having a laugh.

Example 6: 200rs extra for double ocupancy, even when we were told the price was fixed at 500 a night incl taxes and everything else... this was a kick in the nuts and so far, our bill had about 1000 rs extra that was qustionable at best, devious at worst.

So.... stay here if you want. It is clean, and the views are pretty good and the food is pasable is nothing more, but be aware of all the other crap they try and charge you with because it is NOT ADVERTISED ANYWHERE and comes as a nasty shock at the end, especially if you're on a budget like we were as we were in the country for 2 months. I felt like we were being abused due to the low season and the only hint of explanation i got was "we are new to the business", which doesn't help much does it?

To their credit, they knocked off the archar price (25 rs) and rounded the figure down from smt like 2640 rs to 2500 rs... for 2 nights... i stayed a week in Varanasi (with laundry and archar!) and it didn't cost this.

Yikes!.... Beware of this place. If you like filth, abuse, cheaters, and screamers then you'll feel right at home. The front man son told a lie about his hospitalized mother to get a generous wired deposit in advance then refused to return it as promised. When I arrived they left our luggage in the street while the abusive old father took a swing at my tour company rep. and then the father man handled his wife (the one that just got out of the hospital???) while arguing at the top of his lungs. The rooms over look a reservoir of what looks like a lethal mix of pea soup and plastic garbage. The pillows resembled lumpy used tea bags and I could go on and on. Do not be fooled by these people.
There are many really nice places with owners of fine character all around the area. We were lucky enough to find the Haveli Inn Pall just a block away.

Mediocre /Average rooms - dusty rooms - not worth the price. should be priced 500 per day.
2. Bad locality - you will not step into it if you go through the approach road
3. Bad food - exorbitantly priced and bad quality food
4. Cheaters - they are shying away of their responsibilities by talking sweetly
5. They cheated us by giving a bad taxi (Indica) for travelling to Jaisalmer - which we had to leave just 80kms from Jodhpur because of terrible condition of the car

Will never recommend this. Foreigners beware! They cheat by talking sweetly.

Adding to above points based on again a VERY SAD feedback from the manager of Jee Ri Haveli (They again said sweetly that we will improve and that they helped us get another taxi. So i want to clarify few things here) -
Food -
- didnt get atleast one good cup of tea.
- you charged 14% VAT on food. We were charged only 4% service tax at other places (better places than this place).

Taxi
- the car was in pathetic condition - had asked for AC car - the AC was not working. The tyres were very old which led to puncture. The car didnt have tools to change tyres. We had to wait for another 30 min on road for some other car to stop and help us change the tyre with their tools. All in all, it was NOT BAD LUCK - it was mere ignorance from your side for giving us such a bad car and on top of that, when i wrote the feedback on tripadvisor, the manager said bad lluck and lied that they helped us get another car. They didnt even know that we had taken another car. How can they help then. So i thought I should let their attitude to be known to others. So I updated this review.

- you didnt help us get another car. We did it ourselves at our own cost of money and worries/uncertainty with a baby. By God's grace, we were able to get another car in a small village.
- There was no hot water in the room. When we requested in the morning (6.00 am) for hot water, we were NOT given hot water.
-They have same 2-3 helpers doing everything - making food, cleaning rooms and giving room service. These helpers are very frustated and when you ask anything (like Hot water for bath), they dont care.

We chose this hotel as the location was near the railway station and it boasted a view of the Mehrangarh fort.

We reached in the night and were in for a rude shock...the hotel management said that the hotel was completely booked for the night and offered us a room the next day ( which had tv and AC) and requested us to spend the night in a room without any ventilation and no AC and no tv. We did not have any option as it was late in the night but it was such a bad room that we both got headaches as it was so hot.

We requested for internet and the laptop was not even able to connect to the wifi for 5 mins.

Next day the hotel management promised us a room at 9:30 in the morning but till 12:00 no room was given! We felt disgusted and then just to boost our mood went for our delayed sightseeing.

We finished our sightseeing and came in, thankfully the room was given in which we stayed for about 8 hours...

We requested for a railway station drop in the morning. The station is some 3 km away but the hotel in the morning charged 200/- for the trip! Usually it takes a max of 50 /-.

Food was ok, the roof top restaurant is useless in the day as there is no roof and too hot to sit in in the morning...

All in all i would suggest to avoid this shabbily managed "guest house" ....its not even a hotel....and very unprofessional management....who just sweet talk and do not deliver.

I booked a 'super delux' room on the basis of the Trip Advisor rating which is usually very accurate guide. As soon as I arrived I realised I'd made a big error. The bedroom was large but filthy. The floor was so dirty that my wife refused to walk bare foot on it. The sheets were grubby. The next morning when we asked a member of staff to clean the room, he seemed shocked by this request. The same happened each morning of our stay.
The 'beautiful view' balcony opened onto a rubbish strewn tank.
Unfortunately every experience added to our misery. The food was mediocre, and and there was no table lighting on the roof. Their laundry was pricey. When our clothes were given back two days later, I discovered they had burnt my trousers in several places and I had to throw them out. Several other items were dirtier than when I sent them! The much vaunted 'friendly' owner was creepy and obsequieous: he kept offering 'massage' to my wife.
This was not a cheap hotel: it was Rs.1800 a night. This is substantially pricier than the wonderful Mewar Haveli In Udaipur from which was spotless and brilliant value. The Jee Ri reminded me of places I'd stayed in 1974 when I was on the 'hippy' trail - but they had charged a rupee or two per night.
Why did I stay? My wife was ill when we arrived and we couldn't face relocating. We now wish we'd left the very next day.
