The stay at ITC Kakatiya situated in the center of Hyderabad was extremely comfortable. Given it is a top class hotel, a certain level of amenities and comfort was to be expected.

I was travelling alone and staying overnight. Rather than a verbose review I have listed all the things that made my stay comfortable

* On arrival was greeted by name.
* Offered a room in a special section meant for single female travellers - Much appreciated as I had a bad experience in one of the other 5* hotels in Hyderabad a few years ago. This section is accessible by keycard only and all male staff members are either escorted or kept watch over.
* a change in plan from 2 nights to 1 was smilingly accepted. No issues about giving adequate notice etc etc
* The room was a typical ITC (have stayed in 3 now so can compare) and was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom ( always a good test) was equiped with the usual comforts and a few more unexpected ones.
* Small atomisers of essential oil to help sleep / relax
* Wifi information included with key card rather than asking for it (happened often enough before)
* Food - excellant for lunch. Chef gladly provided a kadha for a cold one of my colleagues was fighting when she described what she wanted.
* Ticketing - I needed new tickets printed and again these were delivered within minutes of my requesst
* Dinner - I was dining alone and the maitre d'hotel consulted with me on my food preferences and appetite before suggesting a menu. The serving staff were attentive to the right degree, neither hovering nor ignoring. The food itself in Dakshin was one of the best meals I have had.
* Checkout - Was quick and hassle free.

This is my 3rd time to the Kakatiya. Facilities are outstanding. But the thing that makes this place special is the staff. On even my first stay, within two days of being there, staff members knew my name and even what time I came to breakfast and what I liked to eat. On this third trip, they recognized and remembered me by name upon arrival. Every person I encountered went out of their way to be helpful. Best hotel I have every used.

In the center of the city and near yesteryear airport, Begumpet. Astonished with the infrastructure to reach the city from newlybuilt shamzabad airport. This hotel is another luxury collection hotel of ITC where you can indulge in luxury. Mine was a very short visit say for 8 hrs, but the excellent sleep quality they offer would always remain in my soul

Hyderabad has a few 5-star luxury hotels but Grand Kakatiya is the more laid-back and quieter of the bunch. The service is over the top good. Great French press coffee in room, unlimited water. As with all hotels have to pay for wifi but 24-hours is about $14 and worth it.
Rooms are understated and elegant. Very quiet hotel.

I stayed for one night at this property & was overwhelmed with their hospitality. The front desk upgraded me to a superior category room with free vouchers for laundry and free use of the club room facilities which included free drinks & snacks. Alas, I couldn't use any as I was busy but appreciated their good gesture of upgrading me without me not even asking for the same.
The room was quite large with all facilities that you can expect from a premium property like this one. The Internet speed was also good (although it was chargeable) & there was always some IT guy to help me whenever I got stuck with the internet connection.
The morning breakfast was as good as anywhere with a lot of personal care taken by the ITC staff at the restaurant. They made sure we had a very wholesome breakfast before we began the day.
Overall the stay was very good with nothing to complain about. A good place to stay for business people who have work around Secunderabad.

The main reason for picking the ITC Kakatiya was the short walk to the offices of our business partners. I am glad we did, because otherwise we would have missed out on a wonderful experience: fantastic service, cleanliness, ambience and comfort. Every member of the staff had impeccable manners, was extremely courteous and the response time for any request was astonishingly quick. The room was wonderfully quiet, comfortable and spacious. The location is very central. The standard and variety of food in the various restaurants was 'finger licking good' and not too pricey. The spa has very highly skilled staff who are masters of their trade. We regret we could not use the out door swimming pool because of the weather. Will definitely stay in the hotel again.

It is a great place to stay. Everything about the hotel is excellent including the food. Best part was that we checked in late in the hotel and they pre-poned the midnight buffet just to accomodate the 6 of us.
Great experience.
Everything in the hotel starting from the lobby to the rooms, the toilets are very well kept.
We had our own cars, hence I am not sure about their airport transportation.

Stated with family in Aug 2011 for 2 weeks. Everything was awesome as always except some ITC changes. Breakfast is not provided if you are using SPG points which was bit strange this time. Westin hotel in Hyderabad will provide the breakfast for all its SPG members . I hope ITC will look into this. Apart from that issue, Its the best hotel. Spacious rooms and excellent customer service

I traveled to Hyderabad for business and stayed at the Kakatiya for 2 weeks - it is by far one of the best hotels that I've ever stayed at. The staff was absolutely wonderful and really went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and special- I was attending a wedding of a coworker and one of the ladies from the front desk came up to my room to help me drape my sari! The restaurants have amazing food with service to match. By the end of my stay I felt as though I had made great friends with the servers and bartenders. Thanks to everyone at the Kakatiya - I'll definitely be coming back in the future!!

Its a great hotel. The rooms are great and the service is great.
The only downfall to my stay was that I was given one of the special rooms for single women travelers without being asked if I wanted it. I didn't see the point of this special treatment. I thought it was unnecessary grouping.
And if you pick these rooms, you cant take any male visitors inside while they allow male room service people in!

I have stayed at the Kakatiya several times when I have been to Hyderabad, and it has never let me down.

The staff are extremely friendly, warm and welcoming, particularly Kuldeep and Meenakshi. Whenever I stay at the property, they ensure that there is Thums Up, my favourite drink, in the mini bar fridge. The buffet breakfast in morning is excellent, with a wide range of south Indian dosas and other delicasies.

The rooms at Tower wing offer splendid views of the Hussain Saagar lake and the twin cities of Secundarabad and Hyderabad. The thing that makes the stay even more enjoyable is the presence of the restaurant Dakshin, which dishes up the most mouth watering and delicious south indian dishes I have ever eaten.

I would strongly recommend this hotel to travellers heading to Hyderbad. Sadly the airport in Begumpet is not operational now, as it was a quick transfer to the airport few years ago.

I have just returned from a 2 night-stay in the ITC Kakatiya and would like to say that I had a wonderful time there. I am not familiar with Hyderabad so can't really comment on the location except that it wasn't too far away from shops, restaurants and so on. The airport is 40 minutes away.
The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and are equipped with all modcons. The hotel has a pool, medium-sized gym with a good range of machines and weights, and a spa/beauty salon.
I only had room service but it was DELICIOUS - in fact I went out to dinner one night and wished I'd stayed in the hotel! My colleagues had the buffet in the coffee shop and said that that too was brilliant.
The staff are all so helpful and polite, except for the one who checked us in who refused to allocate adjoining rooms (or rooms next door to one another) to me and my colleague. I appreciate that we were in a large group and that rooms are preallocated, but to not even try is a little unhelpful and goes against the ITC ethos. But that was the only snag in an otherwise perfect stay.

Some Good things:
- Very Clean & Grand overall
- Big and clean Rooms
- Very warm Reception
- Concierge walked me to the gate to guide me to a shopping mall
- The Chef customized the meal based on my vague requirements

Traveled to Hyderabad for work with an Indian company in Dec 2010 - Jan 2011. Stayed approximately 8 nights. The hotel is advertised as a 5-star hotel, set back from the road in Hyderabad's Begumpet area, it doesn't appear that at first glance. Staff is incredibly welcoming and kind and were very helpful to my wife and I when we first arrived without any idea about India. Rooms are nice, expect the standard of a western-style business hotel, views of the lush pool side courtyard and even of the Hussain Sagar in the hazy distance. Its mostly calm relative to the bustle of the streets in front of the hotel. All food we tried in the hotel is excellent, from the breakfast buffet, the room-service and the Curry and Kebabs restaurant, western style food is available, as is plenty of bottled water, the Indian foods are the most delicious. If you are open to adventure on either side of the hotel in short walking distance are blocks with shops and various other Indian restaurants that are generally more affordable. Gym is small but has modern, working equipment. The pool was closed for renovation while we were there but looked nice. The travel desk could arrange tours of the city or rides to and from the airport via their own private taxi drivers for a price. In general don't expect things in the hotel to be any cheaper than you would pay for in a U.S. hotel in a major city. Don't be surprised by the occasional power outage, they are usually temporary and happen everywhere.

The try to the lobby is not intimidating like traditional 5 stars hotels. The staff is very professional and you immediately feel at home. I stayed in an executive suite. To sum it up the room was classy, gave a feeling of space . The walk in wardrobe section was an innovative addition to the room and gave a feeling of 2 rooms. The facilities were top class. There is a variety of food choices. The buffet in the coffee shop offers a lot of choices besides the speciality restaurant that serve south indian and north indian food. The gym is small but equipped with all equipments for those who are looking for a complete workout. The spa has an extensive menu card from simple massages to some exquisite ones for all those who wish to indulge. All in all a great experience.

I have stayed in several 5-star hotels in Indian metro cities, but the two night stay in ITC Hyderabad perhaps stands out as my best experience so far

The check-in/out was one of the smoothest I had seen so far. The lobby is grand, which goes well with the image the name Kakatiya, which was one of the ruling dynasties in the region. The rooms are simply superb, especially when compared to upscale business hotels in and around the Mumbai international airport.

The staff is at its most courteous self, and I could not find a single incident where the service was anything below 100% . Located in the heart of the city, the hotel can help cut down on travel time as well in most of the cases.

We also used its business center for a team meeting, and found it very well equipped for business events.

However, the most prized asset of this hotel for me would be the excellent restaurant and bar options within the Hotel. This is by far the best set I have come across. The diverse cuisines as well as the food quality everywhere is something which speaks volume of the efforts ITC puts in when it comes to F&B

To sum up, this hotel has everything a 5-star business hotel should have, and much more!

ITC hotels are known for its food. My favourite is the Indian restaurant thats called Peshawari or Bhukhara at different ITC hotels. The food at this hotel is amazing. They have a wide spread for breakfast. The room service was also quick.
The location of the hotel is very central. Its like you are in the heart of the city with banjara hills being just about 10mins away.

As you'd expect there is not a huge choice of continental food, but what there is of the less spicy variety (including Chinese) is always good. The business centre has free use of the Internet. I have stayed in Hyderabad for 3 days at a stretch at least twice a month for 12 months in the year across various years between 2001 and 2006. In this period, I tried out various hotels, but once I tried out the Kakatiya, I did not need to go further. The staff are very helpful and make you feel at home. They quickly learn about your favorites and don't trouble you at all during your stay with unnecessary questions, once they know that you want to be left alone. They give you personalized service without being snoopy. The rooms are just right for a business traveller with the right amenities (nothing extravagant, but with a quiet, simple yet elegant style). I love the location too. It is next to my favorite stationery and book store and not too far from the places that I needed to visit on business. I would always recommend this hotel to those looking for a place to stay in while on business where everything gets taken care of, for you.

I visited this hotel during July of 2006 for a business trip. I had a great room on what they called the "women's floor" since I was traveling alone. (Although I'm not sure they really keep to only women as I could swear I saw men going to their rooms- not sure).

In the mornings I ate the buffet and it was wonderfully complete...fruit, oatmeal, eggs, breads, breakfast meats and local Indian specialities. Coffee and tea and every kind of juice was on-hand.

The restaurants were great -- I ate at all of them and each was wonderful. I ate a lot of room service and the menu was quite extensive. You can get any dish from any of the restaurants. I are biryani a few times, which is a Hyderabad specialty. But once or twice I ordered "western-style" food and it was good!

The pool and surrounding areas are lovely -- a few shops are in the hotel but quite a bit more expensive than you would find in other parts of the city.

The concierge was great and helpful and the front desk staff will change money for you when you need it which is really helpful.

The valets were also attentive -- I dont think I opened my own doors once in the two weeks I was there.

All in all -- this is a wonderful hotel with great service and amenities.

PS -- some of the photos which have been uploaded by other members are spot-on accurate.

I came to Hyderabad for work. I literally lived in the hotel for a week. I worked, slept, somewhat "recreated", and, most days, had all 3 meals there. Before I left home, I'd read that the hotel was being renovated and was a bit worried. Construction was still going on when I got there (mid-April), but it was only during the day and mainly in the restaurant levels. I didn't find it to be disruptive. What I DID find disruptive is the traffic noise and the pigeons cooing right outside the windows which began well before the first rays of the sun and definitely before my wake-up call.

I had one of the renovated rooms. The bed was comfortable and there was the requisite pillow menu. If these aren’t enough to lull you to sleep, there are also aromatherapy sprays on the night stand and, even better, complimentary warm milk or hot chocolate available from room service. Wake up calls are easy to schedule. I usually received an automated one, followed by one, sometimes two, “live” ones. I guess to make sure I was really getting out of bed.

The Deacon Pavilion coffee shop reopened during my stay. The décor is that of sleek dark wood and cerulean blue glass, like something out of Miami Beach. The lunch and breakfast buffets are delicious and eclectic. Pricey by India standards, but perhaps not by 4 or 5 star hotel standards. The kitchen was a bit slow. Just stick with the buffet if you’re in a hurry.

As other reviewers already mentioned, the staff was courteous and efficient. The staff at the business center and at the executive check-in desk on the 16th floor was especially helpful. I had problems with my room key card. Turns out it was being demagnetized because I kept it next to my cell phone. By the way, the hotel is only 5 storeys tall. What they call the 16th floor is actually the 5th floor in reality.

I think one of the best features of the hotel is the swimming pool. It has an island with a few huge boulders in the middle. I’m told the boulders are native to Hyderabad and can be found all over the city. I also like the fitness facility. It’s not big, but the cardiovascular equipment is up to date and the weight training equipment adequate. They even managed to find room for a steam room and a sauna. Because there is only one of each, and they are not co-ed, there are specific hours as to when men and women can use them. Some of the women in my party were miffed that they can’t use these facilities after 5pm, which is when we got off work.

My only complaint is that I was charged a full day for checking in at 8am the day I arrived. And they didn’t tell me I’d be charged until after my luggage was brought up to my room. Had I been told that at the front desk, I would have waited until noon.

This is the first hotel I've visited in India, but I can safely say that the service stacks up against the finest hotels in the US and Europe. The room was thuroughly cleaned every day and my clothes were neatly folded or hung in the closet. When they realized that I wasn't going to eat the apples they left out, they started leaving chocolates for me.

The bellstaff seemed legimately pleased to receive tips, and always went out of their way to make my stay more comfortable. For example, I only had to push the button for the elevator in the lobby once. The other times, someone came over to do it for me!

The room itself was recently renovated, and very clean, comfortable, and stylish. I assume the negative comments about the rooms refer to pre-renovation rooms. My room also featured a gigantic TV with a variety of channels, though I could never find anything in English besides the news.

I also received very attentive service each time I ate in their many wonderful restuarants. The food was good, but, given the prices, perhaps not worh it. Dublin [the pub] was also fabulous, with a younger crowd than MarcoPolo. The breakfast was also outstanding, including a variety of Indian, American, and European items. The only thing missing was real maple syrup, but I guess that's too much to ask for in India :-).

I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Hyderabad.

After a fascinating business trip to Guntur district (in August 2006), staying in basic accommodation where the cockroaches outnumbered the guests, staying in the Sheraton for two nights was a welcome bit of luxury before returning home. The room was huge, opulent and very comfortable. A good choice of TV channels and extremely high speed wireless internet that was easy to connect to. Staff were attentive without being invasive and the general layout of the hotel was extremely impressive. I feel I must comment on the dining at this hotel as it was simply out of this world. I ate at 2 of the restaurants and was blown away by the range and depth of flavours from the local cuisine – the curried lobster was simply divine, perhaps one of the finest meals I can ever recall eating. I commented on the delicious curd chillies to my friendly waiter only for him to bring out a 1kg bag of them for me to take home – what a great guy! I had to check out my room and get to the airport for 0200am – it all went smoothly, checked out in no time at all, a car was waiting for me, and staff saw me off. This really is a fine hotel by any country’s standards and is a wonderful retreat away from the hussle and bussle of Hyderabad. Highly recommended.

I had a two night stay in this hotel in early June. The hotel has a perfect mix of grandeur of old india right alongside the most modern of resturaunts, and trendy bars playing chill out music.

The hotel is spotless, inside and out, An outdoor pool set in a tropical garden is also a nice touch, but probably the best touch is the great service orientated staff, with an amazing ability of being where they need to be when they need to be there. The resturaunt staff, when asked chose us the right food, and the right amount too - not the most expensive, nor too much.

The only negative I can think of is that they dont do airport pick-ups. The airport is about 15 minutes away from the hotel, and has plenty of taxis outside.

Within 15 minutes walk from the hotel is a good selection of shops and a modern shopping centre.

This hotel is a beautiful place. The lobby is huge, the service is fantastic, and the food is good. There is a special secure wing that takes a key to get from the elevator into the wing; and another for the room. As you exit the elevator, there is a HUGE sitting area with couches, chairs, etc. While waiting to be checked in, they take you to a really nice room and give you drinks, etc. The check-in is fast. I needed something ironed directly after arriving, and they heard me discussing it. They offered to come to my room immediately to get it if I would just leave it out. It was returned and in my closet when I returned. I had trouble with my room key and had to swipe the card several times. On about the fourth try, a door opened across from mine and a security guard asked if he could help me. A plasma screen television, down comforters, good internet connections, marble floors, and fresh flowers in the room. The only improvement I could ask for is that they leave chocolates in the room - the same ones that they left in the room 6 months ago. They are even dusty. My bathroom had not been updated, but other rooms had been. There is a tub shower. The room was very quiet at night.

The Sheraton Kakatiya is a decent business hotel. The restaurants are good, the lobby is modern and luxurious and the rooms are comfortable. Some of them are very nice and they even have an "eve" floor that is women only and guarded by security guards. Especially secure for the many female business travelers in Hyderabad.

Dublins Pub, downstairs, is a classic Irish pub, very smokey, and full of Americans--this is one of the US Ex-Pat hangouts in the city.

Overall, a good place to stay if the Taj is full.

Don't get me wrong, this hotel was beautiful and well-appointed! The room I stayed in was incredibly clean, security was great, and I enjoyed the complimentary South Indian breakfast (I would kill for another one of their dosas!). Service... just too over-the-should, what-would-you-like all the time. It would have been much better to have just had some time to myself, outside the room. That said, the hotel's location is great and it's staff is very nice and accommodating. Would recommend this or the Taj complex in Banjara Hills.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel for a business trip. The hotel was silence and staff were very helpful. Also the meals at the restaurants were really great and fresh cooked. But I saw a problem in kebab restaurant and let me tell about it.The cooker was looking to the taste of the meal by sucking the sauce with a spoon and putting the spoon in a jar which was filled with water. But the color of the water was dirty because of using the same taste testing spoon every time.Think about the water in the jar, mixed with the saliva of the cooker !!

The other points are good. You can have a good relax at this hotel. And the rooms are really very large and comfortable, includes every needs.

Stayed here one night in July before flying back to London the next day. Didn't get to do much but the hotel staff were friendly and escorted to room by nice and chatty Slovakian concierge. The hotel is in the center of town and the decor is quite colonial whilst the rooms are a good size and nicely decorated. The room service I ordered was tasty and the hotel very kindly made me a breakfast box and sorted my taxi as I had to catch an early flight. If you need a hotel in the center of Hyderabad I would recommend this.

I stayed in ITC Katatiya from 24-27th Aug 2011. The hotel is in a great location and so it is easy to move around the city. There are some decent restaurants, shopping malls and book shops in the vicinity. The service offered in the hotel is excellent and extra care is taken to make you feel at home. The food served in the restaurant is nice and the breakfast has good variety.

I found the hotel stay expensive compared to similar hotels in Hyderabad. Internet connection is not free and you will be charged Rs 1000.00 per day (~ USD 22). I would recommend you to hire pre-paid taxis to commute, as the hotel charges are on the higher-side. I didn’t find the hotel sharing the must-visit places to visit in Hyderabad. If you are adventurous, you can take an auto-rickshaw (3 wheeler) outside the hotel. I would advise you to ask the hotel staff on the rough rates to travel to the destination (as the 3 wheelers don’t follow meters). This would ensure that you don’t get ripped off (Do walk further away from the hotel and then hire the auto-rickshaw, as you pretend not to stay in the hotel & so get better rates).

For the adventurously insane, try crossing the main road to the other side during peak hours, as there are no pedestrian lanes with signals. Though the locals do this almost daily, it is an experience for an outsider and you will never forget the near death experience of fast vehicles approaching in your direction as you cross the roads. I saw a quick recap of my life atleast twice and decided not to do it again.

If your office is in Hitech city, you can assured to spend close to 1 hr + each in traffic to reach your destination during the peak hours. So if you are in business, it might not be the best place to stay. Hyderabad is a great place and you should try the street food (at your own risk). The locals are quite helpful and they offer some great tips to explore the city.

ITC really know the hospitality business, and you can expect a clean rooms, good food and a good night sleep there. Thats what I got at ITC Kakatiya, but nothing more. What more to expect? Well, ITC Sonar has its Lily pond, ITC Gardinia has a garden theme with green walls. But Kakatiya has nothings to write a blog about.

I liked the buffet dinner at Deccan Pavilion, though the Hyderabadi Biryani was authentic but not as good as the packed ITC Hyderabadi Biryani sold in the super markets.

The property is located in begumpet,a rather busy area with the chief minister's house just across the road.
Even though the road just outside the hotel was hustling with noise, the rooms were very quiet and extremely comfortable. The pool was clean too.
The lunch buffet at the coffee shop was lavish.
There are malls at walking distance from the hotel and the concierge was very helpful in sorting out a trip to the golconda fort and also with a ride back to the airport.

A beautiful Hotel in a convenient location with lots of character. Comfortable rooms. Service in the restaurant there for breakfast was slow. I also tried twice to arrange Spa services and finally gave up. (There was a communication gap and once we got past that, there was no availability). Other than those couple of issues, it was a wonderful stay and I would stay here again. I could see this hotel was great for business people and business gatherings. If I were going for a getaway, I would stay at the Taj.

The Hotel is really classy and majestic to match the ITC name. Unfortunately it sorely and very badly needs better service. As with every 5 star, this hotel loves the foreigners and corporates. What about people like me who fit neither category and splurge on an annual really short quick vacation? I called the Hotel from the airport on my arrival to Hyderabad to let them know I would be checking in. I arrived at the Hotel an hour later, greeted by beautiful "trainee" staff who led me to my room without explaining the most essential part of using the elevator which can only be accessed by the card key. The room she showed me was not ready for guests, not cleaned and had some work going on. It was very upsetting to be made to wait again in the lobby while they arranged for other rooms when I had already warned them of my arrival well in advance!! I let the staff know and besides being apologetic they didnt care much. I had a similar experience with another well known 5 star hotel in India and the staff there was very apologetic and immediately gave me a room upgrade, but no such luck here. What does it matter if you have to wait to get your room for a while, at least you are getting one right and that seemed to be their motto. The floor lobby has a bad odour, wish they could use some aromatics here. The room was comfy, neat, clean. Huge LCD TV which was amazing. They have a lot of beautiful girls in their main lobby but they are either clueless or simply rude. I asked one of these girls for direction to the coffee shop and was confused with her directions so when I asked her to repeat, she was amazingly rude!! The travel desk is a complete rip off. They provided me with a different car than I asked for and charged me for the higher category car they provided. Dont even opt for their airport drops or pickups unless they are complimentary. Its throwing money down the bin. Room service was quick and efficient. However, amazingly for a hotel of this star rating, didnt have a Pepperoni pizza although its on their room service menu. They took my order alright but called me back to say they were out of Pepperoni pizza and it wasnt the end of their day either!!! The rooms are not sound proofed and there was a function in the hotel and we could hear the noises right in our room. The best part was the security, baggage scanners, access to elevators and floors and rooms with card keys. Other than that its just an average hotel with the 5 star rating with poor customer friendliness or service. They just dont think much of us poor customers who spend their hard earned money to live in a beautiful property on some time off and wish to get that quality service and hospitality. ITC Kakatiya could have a refresher course in customer service and hospitality for their "trainees" and the "trained."

In for a one day trip to Hyderabad, I decided to stay at the ITC Kakatiya in Begumpet as I had pub-hopping plans for the evening. Some of the best pubs in Hy'd are in Begumpet, Banjara & Jubilee Hills - Ten Downing Street, Firangi Pani, Extreme Sports Bar, Bottles & Chimney etc. And of course Dublin, in house at ITC....

The hotel is just perfect, great hospitality, very modern style and cozy rooms. And doing Dublin as a last stop meant that I could have food in the 24 hr Deccan Pavilion at ITC - great food, especially when you get it post midnight...

ITC Kakatiya is just near perfect - 4 out of 5 stars !!!!

This is not a true 5-star hotel. It's not close to a Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, etc. But it is a very nice and charming hotel and it is a very pleasant place to stay on a business trip to Hyderabad.

The building is a quite large 6-storey structure with several wings and an impressive marble entrance/lobby. It's on a very busy, noisy, congested main road, but is set back from the road with a green area in front of the hotel, so the street chaos is left behind when you are inside the hotel. The entire hotel has a very nice "Indian" theme to it, with Sikh doormen, traditional Indian staff uniforms, Indian artwork around the public spaces, etc. It's not just an American chain hotel plopped down in India.

All the staff are very friendly and attentive. However, they are sometimes a bit overwhelming in their attempts to be helpful. For example, the gym attendant insisted on adjusting each machine and loading my weights for me - I almost had to stop him doing the exercises for me as well! And yet they can also be annoyingly inefficient and disorganized - they kept shortsheeting my bed every day despite repeatedly telling me that they wouldn't do it anymore. All-in-all though the staff definitely make you feel very welcome and go out of their way to be helpful.

The rooms are nice but not spectacular. I have always stayed in the "Towers" rooms. They are a very good size, with proper hardwood floors (which is a nice change from bland carpeted hotel rooms). The bathrooms are spacious with separate shower and tub and all the necessary toiletries, fluffy towels, bathrobes, etc. The rooms have large flatscreen TVs on the wall and are furnished in an interesting Indian-themed style, with Indian artwork and knicknacks around the place. There is wired and wireless internet (for a ridiculously large fee). The closet space is a bit small, but there are plenty of drawers.

Unfortunately the hotel has not got into the luxury bed trend of the Westin and Marriott chains. The bed is quite hard and has ill-fitting sheets, but it's OK.

All-in-all the rooms are perfectly nice, but don't have that blow-you-away with luxury/charm thing of the truly top hotels.

There is a nice large buffet for breakfast and dinner every night. The food is good (although repetitive) and the staff are friendly. There is a nice pool area for relaxing, sunbathing, and cooling down - but the pool is not suitable for serious lap swimmers. The gym has very nice new equipment, but it is very small and has limited equipment - mostly treadmills.

The neighborhood of the hotel is crazily busy. Walking on the streets is an adventure. Crossing the road consists of stepping out into the traffic, holding your had up, and taking a leap of faith that the endless streams of "2-wheelers" and "3-wheelers" will stop for you (or at least drive around you instead of over you). But it always seems to work and at least you can actually walk to shops in the neighborhood, unlike some of the hotels in the Hi-Tech areas that are surrounded by nothing but office buildings.

The "bottom line" is that I keep choosing to stay here when I visit Hyderabad, because I always feel relaxed, comfortable, and well looked after.

P.S. It is worth noting that they don't seem to have any policy of upgrading SPG Gold members (I have stayed here 4 times and never received an upgrade - despite asking for one every time). So don't book a lower room class than you really want, presuming that you'll get upgraded. They told me that they only upgrade Platinum members.

We were in hyderabad last weekend. As we were planning for a leisure trip, we wanted a comfortable stay at a place which is easily accessible and not too heavy on the pocket. I always wanted to stay at an ITC property, so zeroed in on Kakatiya. We had a welcome mini break package, which included, stay, breakfast and lunch for 2. It was priced under 9k.
We arrived at the hotel and greeted by the pleasant staff. Check-in was fast and smooth. One of the staff members ushered us to our room. The room was spacious with large windows, overlooking a terrace lawn.
Batchroom was large, clean and well stocked with soaps, shampoos, clean towels etc.
Food was OK. Buffest spread was good.
Worst thing about the hotel was the access card operated lift. I assume it was implemented considering the safety of the guests, but it proved troublesome if you dont have the access card and you need to go back to your floor. The lift will not just operate.
Overall, it was a good stay.

Some of the plus for this hotel... its located at a convenient location in the middle of city. They offer variety of cuisines like Dakshin for S India, Kebabs and Currys for North India etc. The best is their buffet at Deccan Pavilion which offers a great variety. Kakatiya is about 40 mins from the new Hyderabad International Airport. Arrived past midnight but check in was painless and efficient. Room has all that you would expect from a Starwood member hotel although there was a bit of renovation going on in one of the wings that I was not told about. Whilst the hotel is primarily a non smoking property, there is a wing where smoking is allowed but the ventilation is very good. My only grouse would be while the room was spotless, the fittings are a bit dated especially in the bathroom. Room was comfortably large but bathroom was a bit of a squeeze.

The hotel has a reputation for good food and the breakfast I had was not disappointing especially with the local food.

FOr the most comfortable stay in Hyderabad this is one of the hotels that can be stayed in. The warmness of the Deccan coupled with the aroma of relaxation in the hotel helps you to relax after a tough day at the meetings. The rooms are spacious and allow enough movement space except for the annoyance with the TV remote. The bathroom though is with little less space and requires some space management. Staff is courteaous and one and only annoyance is the mega distance between the hotel and the HYD airport which makes the journey cumbersome as hotel does not provide a complimentory airport pick or drop services and travelling one way using hotel transport will make you lighter by INR 2500/- (USD 50).

The rooms are good. They also have a Women Only section in the hotel and non smoking sections.
Room service takes upwards of half an hour but the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed at the Kakatiya Hyderabad on business on two separate occasions in August 2007. Both times I stayed for 3 nights during the week. I stayed in their tower category room, because our company has an arrangement with ITC. It was an outstanding experience.

The best thing about the hotel is the room. As a business traveler you tend to get weary over the course of the day and may not venture out in the evenings. Hence the comfort of the room and the hotel in general is critical. Here ITC scores heavily. the room is very luxurious as well as sensible with a great functional work desk. the bathroom is excellent. The bed is large, comfortable and has several pillows of all different kinds to suit you.
I used their gym regularly and it is functional with cardio equipment though a little tedious to go there by walking across the courtyard.
The food is amazing - a trademark of all ITC hotels. Their morning breakfast spread was comprehensive.

My wife and I stayed at the Kakatiya Club room for about 6 days in the end of November on the 15th floor. The experience was very pleasant. The 16th floor Club checkin staff was fast, friendly, and efficient. The room we were assigned seemed to have relatively new furnishings. At first we thought the street noise would be problematic for sleeping but upon drawing the curtains, it seemed to drown out.

The breakfast buffet was great with lot of Indian and Western selection, and we were glad that it was included this in our room package. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The fresh juices and omelletes are an excellent idea.

The houskeeping was pleasant and responsive, and always gave us ample bottled water when requested. The laundry was delivered on time.

We also went to the Oberoi for lunch one day, but liked the lobby and atmosphere at the Kakatiya better. The Oberoi seemed a little crowded with businessmen, and the staff a little cold. The Kakatiya had a more relaxed atmosphere, and the staff warmer.

I've stayed at this particular hotel about 50 nights in 2006. It's a little more subdued (in a good way) than it's main competition in town. The staff is overly friendly and seems to be trying their best to make sure you're having a good stay.

The hotel is slowly but surely renovating every room. However, some of them are still not equal to the price you'll pay. I stayed in a suite a few weeks ago, as it was the only thing available. The bed was so bad, I was tempted to sleep on the couch. All that for $450 a night! I complained and they moved me - but they acted like they were doing me a favor. Then they told me the new room I was in cost $500 a night, but they wouldn't charge me the difference. Oh, how generous! Hotels in India are benefiting from the old law of supply and demand. There isn't much supply right now, so they're cashing in.

The food and bar at the hotel are great. Nice pool. One drawback is the gym - you have to walk outside, walk around the pool and then go back inside. For some reason it was impossible to build a door directly into the hotel. So if it's raining, you'll get drenched coming and going.

All in all, I like the hotel. Although I wish they'd stop talking about how they are becoming a Luxury Collection property. You better get rid of the bird sitting on my window ledge every morning first. Or at least put them in tuxedos.

My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton in 2003. We were very pleased with the room, service and food and beverage outlets. The staff at the Sheraton were extremely attentive, and this made our trip more memorable. I would definitely stay at the Sheraton if I return to Hyderabad.

I stayed at the Sheraton for a week in May 2003. My international flight arrived in the early morning hours, and when I arrived at the hotel at 5 am, my room was not ready, but they kindly gave me a nicer room, and let me know they would move me when my room was available, which they did, with little effort on my part.
The international buffet restuarant was excellent and I ate breakfast there every morning. I tried the other restaurants too. In general, the food was excellent quality and the portions were huge.
May is typically the hottest month of the year in Hyderabad, with average high temperatures of 104F / 40C, but my room was always cool, and there is a very attractive swimming pool as well.
The Sheraton truly caters to westerners staying in India, which was perhaps one of the reasons I wasn't so fond of it - if I was going half way around the world, I didn't want to stay in a place that insulated me from the culture. Having said that, I travelled with colleagues who preferred to stay there for that reason (although they didn't say that in so many words).
This is a five-* hotel, and when you stay here, you'll be treated like royalty (even moreso if you tip well!)

Stayed here for a couple of days - looking for a property with Starwood. Overall good experience but not super good.

Food was fine. Dakshin restaurant is supposed to be super good but my experience was ok. Breakfast was very nice though in the basement area - nice selection

Had some wifi problems. The room was comfortable - nothing extraordinary.

However, it is far from hitec city - would recommend something closeby like Westin or Novotel - the drive isn't worth it

Stayed here 1 night. Service excellent as expected but the rooms are nothing to write home about. Did get placed in unaccompanied female floor with extra security which some will appreciate. If returning to Hyderabad will likely try another hotel.

When you talk about an ITC property, you think about great hospitality that welcomes you. ITC Kakatiya is one that is really looking the other side. The staff at the reception is not very welcoming. The base category rooms are more or less outdated with the same old granite flooring in the bathrooms. The breakfast variety is excellent and so is the quality as other ITCs. I gives me a dull feeling walking inside the lobby area towards the lift. The gym is very small and pool size is really meant for kids. Overall, for the money that you spend here, you could get nice hotels in hyderabad

Was my second visit. Best location possible - Heart of hyderabad and it is in Begumpet. The lifestyle building is closeby and Hyderabad central is also very close. Add to that Hitech city is just 12-13 kms away. The service is pathetic - just 2 people at check-in counter and no one to guide you to the hotel room post check-in. B'fast spread was pretty good and dinner is pretty good - Thanks to Dakshin again. I love the pub - "Dublin" which is awesome. Rooms are very spacious however the view is not great and all.

We stayed at the Kakatiya part of the wedding party and first impressions, we were really wowed by the service and the special lounge they have while you wait for your room to be ready etc. Great amenities too and smart features like the TV volume muting when the phone rings etc. Absolutely no complaints about how delightfully comfortable the rooms are. Would happily recommend this to anyone. My only gripe was that in the process of being there for 3-4 days I'd noticed that many parts of the hotel looked like they needed attention whether with regards to painting or repairs. Cos it really is a fine hotel that could benefit from this!

For a conference I needed to stay in the hotel. I found the hotel good but the rooms are very small so the attached bathrooms
Lobby and lighting arrangements are good. There is no good facility in the room to invite guests. The location is superb and in the heart of the city. Food is also good.

The staff tried to be very attentive as expected in a 5 Star Hotel. The establishment is very clean as also expected for a Hotelgroup where Sheraton is part of. However, on our last night at 4am the Flush in the toilet did not stop anymore and it took them 30 minutes to send a technician to the room. I understand the odd times but honestly do you expect in a 5 Star Hotel at 4am a toilet that never stops flushing and makes a huge noise so that you can't sleep again ? It seems the sanitary installation is very out dated and not properly maintained. To make things worse they offered a room change on that time even though they know we are going to check out the next morning (and we have not packed yet) so we had to accept another room just for our "business". Imagine you are in a 5 Star Hotel and you need to go out your own room to search a working toilet. It's like a cheap establishment where the toilet is outside ... very bad for a 5 Star. On top of that the Manager did not even offer any discount for this inconvenience. After pointing this out he gave a discount of 160 Rupees. What a laugh for not having a working toilet on the last day. So definitively the Management is NOT trained well to satisfy the guests. They never heard of making guests satisfied so that they will come back - no it's only for the short term profit as so often. Too bad ! Next time I choose one of the numerous other 5 Stars again....

I stayed at Kakatiya for about 4 days in October in the Tower Room. It was a comfortable stay as expected from any 5 star property with both some unexpected positives and negatives.

First the pluses:
- The hotel has a women only section of rooms called "eva" which is a good option for apprehensive single female travellers. Hotel staff cleaning/delivering food etc are also women.

- The complimentary cocktail hour with the room. They had some real nice canapes.

- The aromatherapy roll-on jars for a good night sleep along with the complimentary night hot-chocolate/milk.

- The "grand" feeling of the hotel lobbly/floors.

- Efficient staff responding the moment you request for something.

The concerning stuff:
- The noise of traffic in the room I stayed (overlooking the road). Disspointing concerning the amount they charge for a Tower level (or even basic) room

- The room service. The local dishes were good however I was dissapointed with the continental selection.

The buffet breakfast was okay. Not too many hot dishes. I have stayed at the Marriot too in Hyderabad and felt their buffet breakfast was much better. (even had the buffet lunch and dinner at Marriot at their 24 hour restraunt Okra and both were equally good. )

- Very little space to take a walk/stroll around in the hotel.

ITC is a "grand" hotel no doubt where they impress you with a lot of facilities. Also since the location is good I suppose its a preffered location for the business traveller. However, I dont rate it very high on comfort. I got a bigger room at the Mariott for 70% the price, which was quiet (important after a long days work) and the food I felt at the Mariott was better.

Good location, impressive looking from the outside but rooms a bit dated. Not what I expected given the star-rating and price. Dakshin restaurant is is very good, breakfast okay, but nothing spectacular. Staff were great, very friendly and efficient. Will try somewhere else on my next trip, but suspect I'll be back.

I booked the hotel based on the reviews in Trip Advisor. I usually find the recommendations to be right on. This time I was disappointed. The hotel is under rennovation so there was a lot of noise and the smell of paint was terrible. I had to ask for another room which took nearly thirty minutes. The new room was in need of renovation.

The staff was nice and the food was good but for the price $400 plus dollars a lot more was expected. I will probably look at another property the next time I stay in Hyderabad.

the service, the restaurants, staff was great here. The Marco Polo lounge had a great bartender. Free breakfast buffet with a lot of choice was outstanding as well. My only complaint was the room, I was in a room that was simply outdated. The carpeting was very old, the sofa looked bad and stained and the bed was not in the least bit comfortable. Thankfully I worked a great deal and didn't spend much time there. For being the #1 hotel in Hyderbad that was a definite disappointment.

I stayed at the ITC Sheraton in Hyderabad for a week in March 2005. I am a Gold member with Starwood and try to stay at Starwood properties. But my next trip to Hyderabad will probably be at the Taj. The staff is overtly courteous enough, but requests outside the usual are responded with "Yes, Sir" -- even if they are not followed up. When I arrived at 2am, my class of room was not available (even though my reservation was active as of the previous day), the bellman didn't have my right luggage, I never got a consistent answer on when I could exchange money, and it goes on. But the staff was always very polite when failing to come through on the simplest of requests.

I was working at nights, and asked not to be disturbed during the day. Even kept a DND sign on the door. But twice a day, sure enough, housekeeping kept knocking. If you're working nights, make sure the room faces the north side. On the south side, you will hear the mosque making calls to prayer at 5am and noon.

The restaurants are good, and Western travellers will do well here for a week or so. Some of the rooms are recently renovated - ask for one when you arrive. If you expect to be low maintenance, you will do fine. But if you are working at nights, just be prepared for consistently polite failure to meet your needs.

Only stayed one night and glad it was only one night. Room was noisy with traffic sounds from outside and rather tired. Often judge a hotel by the cleanliness and upkeep of the bathroom - this one failed miserably. Indian restuarant was nice but service was slow. Staff were confused as to what services were available...

does not live up to the expectations. At every corner stands a beutiful girl in a sari, but if you want an info they are utterly helpless. They purely serve as decoration. I asked and got help to send off some extra luggage - however THIS kind of help I rather do away with: my parcel disappeared. The hotel refused all responsability, needless to say that wonderful embroidery, some electronics and books were never seen again.

The ITC Kakatiya is badly located to start with, near the old Begumpet airport, not nmuch activity to do around and the hotel atmosphere is by itself a bit depressing.

The poolside has a sombre look to it, the rooms are badly done and in my case, I even had the handle of my door coming off.

The service leaves to be desired, it took me about 4 calls to housekeeping to finally get my food order delivered.

I stayed at the ITC for 9 days. This was my second trip to Hyderabad and last time I stayed at the Ta Krishna. I wanted to check this place out because I had heard good things about it from others who have stayed and on this website.

I arrived at 11:30 PM and they were waiting for me. Check in was a breeze and the room looked clean and spacious. One of the biggest problems is that on their overnight menu there are items that are not available (why have them on if I can't order them?). The concierge walked me up to my room and told me that he had put me in the wing that wasn't as noisy. This turned out to be untrue because during the day, when I had to sleep, you could hear banging all day long no matter where you were in the hotel. No big deal because I knew that going in from reading the reviews.

The deal breaker was the ants. They were all over the counters, the floor and on my bags. They actually hitched a ride in my laptop bag to the office and I had to kill at least 15 of them as they crawled over my desk. Another minor annoyance is they won't serve you alcohol to your room after 12:00AM. They told me there were items in the mini bar (2 bottles of beer that were skunky) that I could choose. They also have no spa services.

Good things: Staff very courteous and friendly, laundry service was great, arranging a car was painless and easy. The Internet setup was easy and fast to do, I also really liked how you could buy 3 days at a time instead of every 24 hours. I wish these hotels would give you the option to buy access for the duration of your stay.

The stay wasn't that bad but this hotel says it's in the "Luxury Collection" and even after my corp discount the room was still $300 a night. I checked out after a week and went back to the Taj Krishna and got a Taj Club room for less.

I stayed at the ITC Kakatiya Hyderabad Hotel expecting the same world class service and facility as other Starwood Luxury Collection Hotels. What a disappointment...

ITC Kakatiya Hotel is very old and outdated; even the so called newly renovated rooms look less than desirable...open the window and there are pigeons droppings everywhere... The pool is also dirty and full of pigeon feathers... The service is very slow everywhere, especially at the restaurant. I really hope ITC can raise the bar... I much prefer Westin Hyderabad Mindspace Hotel.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. We were a film crew consisting of Americans and Indians and we arrived at the hotel with lots of our equipment and there was not a single person to help us out. The lone security guard was standing and watching the fun. Even when I went into the lobby and complained, no one bothered except one guy. We had to take all our luggage inside ourselves.

The rooms were bad and about the service, the less said the better.

Of all the Starwood hotels I stayed at during this trip to India, this one has the worst service and also the most expensive.

I was given wrong directions and made to walk 30 minutes in the sun (they told me it is only "five minutes of walk"). While that could be an unintentional mistake, they REFUSED to get taxi for the airport (insisting on using the hotel's travel desk which was 4x the price. During our conference, they shut down the airconditioning for the ENTIRE day!!

Perhaps people in HYD are not used to knowing what to expect from a luxury hotel, but for international business travelers, this hotel is unacceptable.

ITC Kakatiya was my default choice in Hyderabad. It was not because the Hotel was special in any way, but the stay was as one would expect during business travels. I hardly stayed there beyond late night check ins and early check outs.

This month, I planned a two day stay hoping to discover the hotel a bit more. And sadly, it was destined to be my last stay in this property. I survived two break in attempts in my room. Luckily, the door latch prevented the unauthorized entry on both occasions (despite the room occupancy light being on and a privacy please sign). I called up the lobby manager immediately, and she said I should talk to the duty manager. I wasn't expecting this kind of a response. After the second incident, I left the room scared, checked out and shifted to the nearby Taj.

The hotel had nothing else to mention except that they had cameras installed and would have known in case anything happened to me. How very encouraging!

So if you are at this hotel, please take all measures you need to in order to be safe especially while you are in your room and do latch your doors!!

I have reported this matter, again in writing upon my return, but do not have a satisfactory response from the hotel yet.
