I had stayed in this hotel on the 18th of the same month and had not so good experience, mostly due to external factors, like neighbours etc. Because of the nice behaviour of the staff and the location, from where you can go to any place of interest in Kolkata easily, I preferred to choose the same place for my stay during 30-31st of the same month. I just contacted them over phone and they suggested me to chose the Super Deluxe room, which for a family (2+1) costs INR 2700 (US$60) per night. I was deeply impressed by the quality of the room, size, furnishing, flooring (parquet) and the toilet. I do not think, anywhere else in Kolkata, we can get that kind of spacious room at that price. I particularly like the entrance, which is small but gives a feeling of home, as you enter. The room was in ground floor. I have read some criticism about this hotel’s condition during monsoon, which were not very encouraging, so I should reserve my opinion for the dry seasons only. The AC and TV (large LCD) were brand new and perfectly working. The bed linen was clean and appropriately matched, the curtains were clean and so were the bathroom towels. The food at this hotel (which could be ordered to room) is much cheaper than outside and of better quality and taste too. So, I will strongly recommend that if you want to stay in this hotel with family and spend some quality time, you will not regret the choice.
One more important thing about this hotel is the guest relation and cordiality. Since my flight check in was in the evening of 31st, five hours after the scheduled check out time (12:00PM), I requested for some accommodation on time of departure, which was very flexibly negotiated and settled. I just paid an extra INR 500 for my over-stay. This reminded me of a very bad experience which I had in Athens some time back (July 2007), early morning (4:00AM) while I flew from London. The 4* hotel charged me a day extra over the booking because their check in time was 9:00AM. I had booked a 6 day stay with that hotel and had a clear mention of my early arrival in the booking. Compared to that, my experience at Hotel Park Inn was very satisfying.
I would love to stay there every time I go to Kolkata.

Very clean and neat room. Definitely worth for a budget stay and is comfortable. The staff in the reception are courteous and friendly. The service needs to improve a bit. I would strongly recommend for any business trip.

This hotel is situated in the park street which is one of the important place of Kolkata but searching this hotel is quite difficult. The inside look of hotel is quite good.In spite its low accommodation rate, you will find proper sanitation of toilets.Bedsheets were clean and room service is OK.Since the hotel is situated centrally you can go anywhere from here.Howrah station is also not too far.One thing I like bad about the locality of hotel which is surrounded by slum type houses which is a black spot on this hotel.Once you entered in the hotel you get relaxed and feel cool.

I stood at this hotel a few times in August of 2009 a had a good experience. the rooms are clean have all the common amenities and the staff is very friendly and very helpful. this hotel is great except for one issue none of the auto taxi drivers found it easily you would get there eventually but it usually took a few more mins while they fingered out where it was. if you don't mind this minor inconvenience it is an excellent midrange/budget option. (if you do stay here I highly recommend going down the block to the charcoal grill and try the crispy lamb)

I stayed there for 7 days, The hotel is in a really good location, also the place is very secured, rooms are a bit small though but comfortable. Room service is bit late but the quality is ok. The most important thing is the location , it's actually in the herat of the city, but in a very quite place. Hotel stuff is very friendly, and also very honest. I would strongly recomend this hotel to others.

I stayed here with a group of friends for 6 nights in April. It is south east of Sudder Street/New Market, out of the centre, and you need a taxi to get anywhere. However it is near to the restaurants and shops of Park Street and a taxi to New Market is around 80 Rs.

The staff were polite and helpful. The rooms were clean and reasonably spacious, with a TV and room service. There are proper showers with hot water in addition to bucket showers. It's also quite quiet since it's not on a main road.

We would definitely stay here again if we revisit Calcutta as it's good value (double A/C room 1200 Rs), clean and quiet. I recommend that avoiding room 305 as the bathroom is a bit smelly though!

Hi

I visited kolkata on 18th May 2007 morning and stayed at Hotel Parkview for 3 days till 20th May evening.

The reason for choosing Hotel Parkview is the location is away into the City. The traffic is less there and the hotel is located in a small lane called Talbagan Lane.

Its a nice small hotel with room service till 11 pm. The rooms were clean and service was decent.

I bargained for the rooms and got room in 1000(inclusive of all taxes), plus my checkout time was adjusted so that i didnt have to pay for 3 days and paid for 2½ days.

The food was OK in room service.

All in all its a decent hotel and would stay again there to keep away from traffic and all the over crowdeness i saw near the Hotels located near Howrah Station.

I would like to thank Ratna Prasad who helped me here at trip advisor and Brave1 who refered Ratna Prasad to me.

These guys really deserve to be appreciated for helping people here at tripadvisor.

Thank you both.

Regards,
Abdullah

This is a budget hotel for a business traveler located in park street near park circus maidan,in very close proximity to seven signal crossing. The building is a bit old & rooms & toilets are slightly congested as in case of kolkata hotels . We stayed here for 1 night. this hotel is not recommended for person travelling with families / young children. But spending 1 night is ok. You have numerous choice of restaurant like haldirams etc nearby where you can enjoy a tram ride from 7 signal crossings. Only known taxi driver can take you inside the lane to the hotel.

My stay was only for 1 day and it was easily located near the Milan Mela where I had an exhibition. The hotel rooms are comfortable and the prices are the key attraction factor. There is no restaurant at the hotel, however they have room service by getting the food from outside hotels. There was a loud noise of some generator running during the afternoon, but at night there was no problem. There is easy access to autos and taxis from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for all guests who are looking for a budget place and average service.

The place is just ok. If you are in kolkata mainly to look around and are not going to be relaxing in your room all day, then this is not such a bad place. The rooms are slightly dull and dimly lit during the day, makes you feel a little dull and lazy. The cleanliness is not bad. So is the room service. The food was average overall, we always got food to the room and did not go to the restaurant, the fish that we ordered was very good but highly expensive for the hotels standards.

I stayed in this hotel several time and had kind of intimate feeling. As in Kolkata it is difficult to find an average hotel, I have to pick either a hotel above USD 150 or below USD 60. I could never think of more appropriate hotel anywhere around USD 70 to USD 90 which would have been perfect for my budget. (Hope some traveller friend suggests me one).

Location Wise, this is probably very convenient for many travellers. The staff are really very good. Well....... but I must say for once...... There is one night shift male staff who always makes it difficult for anything. Asking him for an Internet connection is making a joke of yourself only. His usual answer is "I am not sure and I cannot guarantee"

Let me quote the last time when I was there, I had to work quite late in the Internet with my mails etc. Suddenly at around 1230 am the line was off. I went to the reception while I found him putting the connection off. While I asked him, his answer is " well I cannot keep it on for the whole day and night. The machine needs to rest. Why... DONT YOU UNDERSTAND THIS COMMON MATTER? THIS IS JUST A MATTER OF SIMPLE COMMON SENSE?" I was so embarrassed that I came back to the room without a word.

Well this night receptionist was always like that but the other staff were so good who always made me forget his rough attitude. But this time I thought I should let everyone know.

这个又是算是在中心区,火车站走出来的酒店。不过我觉得酒店外面的环境有一点点恐怖,算是叫贫民区,所以到处破破烂烂。后来才换的地方,里面还好,干净。

They charged me 2500 per day , for a small room on the third floor !! no lift . staff is impolite, rude, the reception desk is really hopeless. only + point is its location, vey convenient and acceceble . for a business stay if you r to remain outside for most of the day , its ok for taking a shower and sleep. food is just ok

Poor response to BED BUGS

My major gripe was with the customer service. They did move me to a different room without delay once I noticed the bed bugs but there was no offer to discount the room rate. Even when I suggested there should be a discount they did not acknowledge my claim. They also implied I that may have brought them in...I hadn't gone near the bed by this point!

Wouldn't a decent hotel offer some kind of compensation? At least to keep the customer happy? Not good business. I paid full price and felt pretty disgusted by the whole experience.

It would be unfair to rate this place as awful. Kolkata is poorly equipped for hotels between RS. 1000-2000 and in terms of quality and cleanliness (forgetting the bugs) this one is better than most in that price bracket.

The hotel gets people just for having same name as other good hotels, it can be described as just OK hotel not so posh and not much amenities. However, closeness to city centre and transportation is a positive point. that gives value to hotel

Friendly staff and prompt service. However there turned out to be bedbugs in the room. I got 6-7 bites on the first night. Told the front desk in the morning and they changed my room - got another 20 bites in the new room on the 2nd night. I don't think I will venture there again.

I went to Kolkata for my conference. I booked Hotel Park Inn on phone after reading good reviews about this. But I was rather disappointed with my decision to stay there. The rooms were no at all upto mark. Bath room was old style & filthy. Food was good and I liked the complimentary breakfast. It was closely located to Park Street so a good way of communication and shopping. I did not enjoy the stay nor did i liked the attitude of the staffs.

Hotel located near Park Circus maidan, has only one positive point is its distance from Kolkata's one of the most famous restaurants, Arsalan.
Bed bugs is what will welcome you in your room. Staff is impolite. They just dont know how to behave in a hotel. Customer desk is hopeless. I might give 1mark out of 5 complimentary mark for there cleanliness. They take meaningless 30min to prepare breakfast, and that breads and eggs :P Water keeps leaking from the tap, whole night. And yeah! you can hear it :D NO WIFI < neither internet cafes around>
I wanted extra mattress, called the room service, and that did not came until i checked out! :D This is a terrible hotel, recommended only if you re on business tour, and stay is not more than 1 DAY!
STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

This hotel is in a slum area of Park Street. The rooms are very shabby, not to mention the cockroach in the room, even although I had booked a deluxe room there was certainly nothing deluxe about it. The room was very small and walls were so thin we could hear every noise. There was a wedding party staying in the hotel at the same time as us and they were extremely noisy and kept us awake most of the night. I found the plates and cups to look very dirty too.

Also, the reception staff seemed to have a problem that my partner and I were different nationalities. Kept asking for proof of id from us both and wanted to take photocopies but had a problem with making copies. We had planned to stay there for 7 nights but ended up leaving after 2 nights as it was so bad and moved to a much better hotel where we had none of the problems faced here.

I had one of the worst experiences staying in the hotels for a day.
I had zeroed in this hotel after hearing good reviews from the website, but to my surprise it was located in dark lane which was very difficult to find.
Anyways i checked-in, it was a very small room with no facility of hot water - it didn't matter too much since i had to stay for a couple of hours.
The worst part came while i was checking out.
The manager had made up a false bill and handed over to me.
When i refused to pay up he called up the staff members and started abusing me.
I had no choice but to pay up and leave that place ASAP.
I would certainly not recommend this place to anyone .
