I went to Mumbai in Oct-2009 alone from London for my treatment one month long. On recomendation from my uncle I select this hotel as it is in my budget. They charge me very less as I had bargain the tariff for single room which is in ground floor near reception. Single bed with T.V.,Telephone, Ensuite bathroom & nealy renovated. As I was on ayurvedic medicine they gave me the food without oil & as per my requirement.
Mr. Deepak Shah the manager was very friendly and honest man allways help me to get medicine from store or for telling the staff regarding my food. I got rickshae easily to go anywhere. I will definately recomend this Hotel to other family members who comes to mumbai.

Visited Mumbai recently for a function organized by my wife's sister. We visit there regularly but this was the first time at this hotel. The area the hotel is in was very close to where we wanted to stay and we faced no problems whatsoever. The staff was very helpful and the food was decent as well. There are autos available nearby when you want to go out and we were able to get one at 9.30 PM as well. The room we got was decently clean and large and is the spitting image of what is shown in the pictures here. The first thing we look at in a hotel are the sheets and the bathroom. Both of us are not fans of cramped spaces. But we were pleased that the sheets and all were clean and the bathroom was decent as well.

The only complain i have is with the checkout time(12 PM). We checked in at 6 PM in the evening and had to pay for half day extra as we checked out around 4.30 PM for our evening flight back home. I guess this is a general complaint with all hotels but checkout time should really be 24 hours and not a fixed time of the day.

Overall enjoyed the stay and will definitely stay here again on our next trip later this month.

We have stayed here probably a dozen times over the last 6 years on route to Goa, or somewhere else!! Okay, it is not the Taj Mahal, but the rooms are clean, it's close to the airports, they are always there to pick us up at the airport, no fail, have treated us very well! For the price, it is a cool place to stay for a day here or there in a very authentic area of Mumbai, always safe, always friendly !!

The hotel is comfortable, with unsophisticated feel. The amenities are modest but they do the job. Mr. Deepak, the manager was helpful enough to send a car to pick us up from the airport. He even booked us a flight to our next destination Bangalore, using his hotel's travel account at very reasonable prices. The staff are helpful and courteous. Thanks Mr. Deepak, next time I'm in Mumbai, I'm coming to you again. Just make sure you don't forget to instruct the service staff to put the mosquito repellent :-)
Comfortable stay, and nice people always ready to help out.

Mr. Deepak gets a lot of great reviews for Hotel Highway Residency in Andhra and our experience was no different. We arrived from a looong plane ride from San Francisco in June of 09 and were greeted among many at the Mumbai airport (you feel like a superstar for once at your life at that point!) We followed the gentleman with our name on his card, and unfortunately he didn't speak much English, so when his friend wanted to carry our bag to unknown car it was a bit weird... and we had to wait with said friend for about 15-20 for the airport traffic to clear and our car to appear. It sort of went like this for the first day or so... we had not ever been in India before... yet our room was outstanding and the staff was pleasant.... I recommend the room just to the right of the reception desk on the first floor, that's where we stayed and it was perfect and comfortable in order to recover from, yes, the worst jet lag of your life... the water was fresh, food in morning was good... I think this place is a great place to stay, especially to visit the Kanheri caves (if you know the name of the park and can tell it to the driver) that was a bit of a difficulty on my part... but they worked it all out for us. Plus, Mr. Deepak was awesome... he got us an electrical adaptor for the laptop right away, helped change our train reservation when the timing proved impossible, and internet access was seemless. I would suggest this hotel for those who want a great budget hotel in a great location and the time to ease into India with Major jet lag... we went to Pune on a train from there... it is NOT close to downtown, so expect to pay 800 Rs for the trip to Shivaji terminal. Thanks for the wonderful stay, Mr. Deepak! -Hillary and Paul

I find it convenient and comfortable for the night i spend, being close to the Airport after spending the entire day on work i had a sound sleep and also it was close the airport as i have to catch a early moring flight to Delhi. The hotel should avoid the bargain for the price. It will be good if they quote the best price as i have to spend 10 mins to have the best bargain.

I spent two days/nights at the Hotel Highway Residency. As a single woman, and with my first visit to India I was concerned about where to stay. I needed a hotel near the airport and most all that I looked into were quite expensive.

I trusted my gut about this hotel and generally liked the reviews. It is not fancy, but it is generally clean, the people are hospitable. My reservation and questions were answered promptly and professionally. I was picked up twice by this hotel from the airport and both times the person was waiting with a name card.

The rates were most fair considering what the hotel prices are for Mumbai airport properties. I also enjoyed the breakfast one morning and found it very nice. The staff was particularly helpful.

This is not the U.S. and we should not compare the two. My first room did not have a shower but had a water spiget (common). My next room did have a more updated bathroom. Both were fine for overnight. Frankly, this had a great deal more charm then our inexpensive cookie cutter type motels.

I recommend this establishment and would stay there again.

Sincerely, Irene Ryke

I stayed at the Hotel Highway Residency for one night between flights. I contacted the hotel directly and received a very prompt reply from Deepak the owner confirming my reservation and pick-up at the airport. I once had a scary experience being picked up at night at the Delhi airport by hotel staff, so I was really on edge when I arrived in Mumbai. The driver from the Residency was professional and prompt. When I arrived at the hotel, it seemed to be a popular place for non-Indian tourists and was a little lively. The staff was friendly. The room, bed, towels and bathroom were clean. Bring your own hand soap. If you have never traveled in India, be prepared for some things to be a little shabby. And be prepared to take bucket baths. Many hotels do not have a separate shower/bath within the bathroom itself. My room was near the elevator and so was probably a little louder than rooms down the hall. The hotel does have a kitchen, but I didn't try out the offerings. Hotel staff arranged an early morning autorickshaw for my trip back to the airport.

We stayed at this hotel for a total of 5 nights. The Hotel manager, Deepak, picked us up at the Airport on time and was very helpful. He helped us book our follow on train and domestic flights and even accompanied us to the travel agents. He also organised a tour of Mumbai. Being a 10 minute drive from the airport is quite handy.

Hotel staff were very friendly and the food was good. Rooms were clean with A/C, TV etc and I can't really complain at such a low cost. If you're looking for somewhere cost efective to basically drop your things and see Mumbai then this hotel is more than adequate.

We found this hotel through our driver.

Rs1600/- per night

It is simple with no breakfast, all rooms have air conditioning and cable TV.

The best part is that you are 5 minutes in an auto rickshaw (Rs 20) from both airports.

Shopping is Rs40 away or Rs 70 if you go far to "In Orbit"

Staff are helpful.

Internet access was not working

Room service food is good.

First of all I was in India about one month and only stayed in two different hotels, the Hotel Highway Residency being one of them. So it is very difficult to compare with other hotels. My stay at the Hotel Highway Residency was fine. It is close to the airport which was a real plus for me. They picked me up at the airport having a sign with my name on it. They also took me to the airport after my trip in India was over. My room was clean and the room had a TV that had 100 plus stations that was nice to look at before bed.

The manager Mr. Deepak was so helpful to me even before I arrived in India. I had a very specific train and class I wanted to ride on, the Superfast from Mumbai to Jaipur. I tried obtaining a ticket from the states via internet but they wanted an address in India. When I emailed Mr. Deepak he arranged and actually got the ticket for me. He also save me some money because there was a closer train stop to the hotel then going into Mumbai. They also arranged a luxury bus for my trip to Igatpuri. So if you have special travel needs or requirements they certainly can help.

I also took the day long tour of Mumbai that was arranged from the hotel. It was very nice and relaxing way to sit back while the driver took us to various places. They were also helpful when venturing out on you own as to what to expect to pay for the cycle rickshaw.

So all and all it was a very pleasant experience staying there. I will go back there on my next trip.

We spent a night here before having to catch an early flight out of Bombay. We got upgraded to a bigger room (slightly bigger) for free. The room was fine (paint peeling a bit and such). Bathroom was a little dinky. Worst part was there was no mosquito repellent and my poor kid got bitten terribly. Thankfully I squashed the mosquito the next morning but it was too late by then. Temperature in the room could not be controlled much so it was quite cold.

Food was pretty decent in the restaurant. Price included free breakfast and drop to the airport which was much appreciated.

It was a bit hard to find the hotel, but the manager came out on the street and was in touch with us to help guide us there.

The hotel and room were passable, but the service was quite good. The room was clean, the room attendant was polite and prompt. Even though I arrived past midnight, they arranged for a decent late-night snack. The location of the hotel is poor, but it is within a few minutes of both the international and domestic airports, which helped. Overall not too bad an experience.

Hi,
I Just completed a pleasant stay in this hotel. I Choose this hotel because it was close to the airport and because of the reviews i saw in other sites. Overall the room is small and good.
The Pluses:-
1) Clean Rooms.
2) Decent Food in the Hotel.
The drawback of the room was
1) The bathroom. It was a bit too small.
2) The Location. It is a bit difficult to find.

Excellent place to spend one night.

We use hotel for "transfer" night and used rather as a place to take a shower after walking around Mumbai and before longhaul flight. Location max 10 minutes from the airport. Rooms quite ok, however cleanless of towels we should discuss.
Nothing more - transfer hotel.

We arrived late from Trivandrum and had to leave early in the morning so we needed to spend the night in a hotel near the airport. I would'nt choose this hotel for another purpose. Taxi pick up was perfect, with name card. Sure there are better hotels but Bombay hotels are so expensive that this is an ok option if you don't want to spend much money. Room ok, no upper sheets, we didn't need, it was hot enough. Bathroom need a repair (shower water goes everywhere you don't want to) and a better cleaning. Taxi to airport also ok and for a very decent fare (200rps).

It was a convenient choice ... late flight arrival, morning departure so we wanted something close to the airport. Pickup was convenient once we spotted our names amongst the hundreds of boards. Location is great - 10-20 mins from the terminals. Rooms were basic, relatively clean and staff were efficient. We paid INR 2700 through hostelworld.com, which represented decent value for accomodation near Mumbai airport (most of which is expensive 4/5-star stuff) though poor value compared to city digs and bad value compared to the rest of India. I'd recommend the Highway Residency as a convenient near-airport hotel but you can find better value and quality stuff throughout the city.

We arrived at 3am and no sign of our free pick up - had to phone hotel and wait over an hour for the driver to come. The room was tiny and not clean but as I was 6 months pregnant and shattered we managed to sleep.
The rooms certainly do not look like the pictures featured on here.
On the plus side - the driver was very friendly but we were over charged by 200 rups on check out - I was too tired to argue.

After an amazing trip we arrived at Mumbai at 3 am and we certainly appreciate the quick transfer as all we wanted to do was sleep and on arrival we were shocked with the quality and the location. The corridors and lift both were extremely dingy and with absolutely no natural light filtering through !! The rooms were absolutely filthy with the sheets very dirty and the blankets looked as if they has been stolen from the Indian railways !!

Bathroom was a nightmare ...Not clean at all with the flush not working properly !! The room stank of stale air and the air conditioner was from another era all together !! Room had not mosquito liquid repellent but a small blue mat kind of repellent which didn't have any fresh mats so mosquito's were a problem. The reception staff at 3 were very rude and demanding and even during check out were not very courteous. The general feel of the hotel was very shady and i would not recommend anyone to stay here.

I would however like to point out that the bellboy and the security guard were however very helpful and helped us when we checked out !! We checked out immediately even though we had a booking of another day.

Stayed here for our last night in India before an early flight home. The best thing about it was the pick up from the airport. After that it was all a disappointment.
The room was dirty, smelled of dampness. There was one sheet on the bed which wasn't clean and a blanket. We didn't try the food just a couple of beers in a seating area they called the restaurant - a lean-to with corrugated tin roof. I'm not sure if we were inside or out! We didn't feel safe here at all. We slept in our clothes, left early in the morning and didn't bother with breakfast. This is a cheap backpackers hostel. And I've stayed in much better. Not to be repeated.

So disappointed when we arrived at this hotel for our last night in India before flying home the next morning. Chose it purely from the reviews on this website, and expected something better for our rs.3000 since it was one of the most expensive hotels we had had on our trip.
Good start was the free airport collection, but we arrived at the hotel in the evening after a long day to be put on the fourth floor in a small room that was humid and smelt strongly of damp and paint. They seem to be decorating the hotel, but the reviews show thats been going on for over a year and they haven't reached the fourth floor yet!
Another disappointment was the small, dirty bathroom, with a broken window and sink, with the shower head over the toilet so a shower would have been difficult to have.
We asked to move rooms and they put us on the second floor instead, in a newly painted room, so at least you couldn't see the mould on the walls this time. The bathroom was slightly bigger and nicer looking, but needed a good scrub. In fact the whole room needed a clean and new furnishing. The mat as you came out of the bathroom should have been thrown out years ago, the settee was ripped, and the blinds were pretty nasty and needed to be tied to the water jug to keep them up since there was nothing else to tie them too.
I appreciate that standards in India are different to ours, but having travelled around the world and stayed in very basic accommodation, I was expecting more for our money. What could have made the difference was clean bedding - but we had a dirty, ripped bottom sheet and pillows, and only a well used, unwashed blanket to cover us. Luckily we travel with sleeping bag liners and used these instead, making sure we were tucked in safely away from the many mosquitos in the room, and watched the films on the TV until 4 in the morning when the noise from the cage door in the lift stopped banging and the room doorbells stopped ringing.
I didn't feel safe in this hotel, and couldn't wait to leave the next morning, and didn't want to sample any of the food there.

We stayed at Hotel Highway Residency for 2 nights in January.

During our stay the hotel was being re-decorated and as a consequence smelt of paint and generally was a mess. However on the plus side our room was one of the ones that that had undergone the makeover and was quite nice. It was spacious, very clean with a good shower and bathroom.

Service in the hotel was okay and they have an airport pickup service which eventually did pick us up after we called them.

It is well located for the airport.

First off, my stay was fine. They picked me up at the airport.

That said, and realizing most of Mumbai is a slum, the ride to the hotel was a treat to abject poverty. Although the exterior has not been whitewashed in a decade, once inside all was well, though I think my head lice started at this hotel. Check in was efficient and while they wanted to upgrade my room (can't beat the price!) my single room was fine.

I would go back there.

The hotel is conveniently located about ten minutes drive from the airport. Despite our flight being late the hotel's driver waited for us and thankfully was there when we arrived in the middle of the night. The hotel is situated on the edge of a slum but has a security guard so felt safe enough. The problem came when we saw our room - stale smelling, dusty and covered with rat droppings. The bathroom was filthy too. We are not at all squeamish and very much used to budget guesthouses, but this was the worst place we stayed in in 10 months of backpacking in terms of cleanliness. The air conditioner beltched out black smoke every so often too, so we ended up switching it off! Thankfully we checked out the next morning for our ongoing flight. The hotel is massively overpriced for what it offers.

In case you don’t read my full review, I will give you my advice right here at the beginning: Do not stay in this hotel. Why? Because the hotel is not at all what it is promoted as.
The first line of text on their website is “Welcome to Hotel Highway Residency where comfort, luxury and hospitality know no bounds” How can anyone say that? It could not be more wrong. I would rather say it is a total lack of comfort, luxury and hospitality. This is the only hotel I have slept fully dressed in. I did not even take my shoes off.
Several times every year I have the same need as so many others; a decent Bombay hotel room close to the airport. Coming in very late in the evening and departing again early in the morning, I always feel it is a waste to spend hundreds of dollars in the 5 star’s, just for a few hours sleep. So this particular time I was adventurous and followed a friend of a friend’s recommendation, and made a booking for one night.

The hotel had obviously forgotten about the airport pickup, so after some time I had to catch a local taxi. Since I was totally unfamiliar with the hotel and I was supposed to be picked up – I did not know other then the name of the hotel. Hence I was very particular about choosing a taxi driver that convinced me that he knew the directions. Once on the way, of course it turned out he did not. But if you ask enough people, sooner or later you will find any hotel – even in Bombay.
The driver presented a bill that was totally crazy and I refused to pay. The hotel people that was supposed to pick me up, did not offer to pay it, they did not even support my case. The situation at the front desk was very unfriendly. Let me quote their website again: “Courteous staff, personalized service is the hallmark of HIGHWAY RESIDENCY". I don’t think so.

So, let’s talk about the “pleasant and tastefully done interiors, luxuriously furnished rooms, which have all modern facilities” Being in Bombay with its endless slums, yes, comparatively it might be true. What a terrible room, and dirty too. The sheets were so dirty that I considered leaving behind the clothes I slept in. The place was very noisy too. Even if it was in the middle of the night I considered changing to a decent hotel, but decided to stay on for the few hours remaining.

My point is; this is a very basic, close to the airport, hotel. It must be thousands of hotels in Bombay that is much worse than this hotel. The reason I have issues, is that this hotel is pretending to be something totally different from what they actually are, and also charging as if they were a much better hotel. Not that it is expensive, but the 4-5000 IRS I paid for my so called “Executive” room is terrible value for money.

As it is now, any person will be disappointed after staying in this hotel.
Some free advice: Reduce your rates considerably, re-write your hotel descriptions and keep the place clean. You are a low budget, very basic place, which it for sure is a demand for. So I am sure you will be fully booked even if you are marketing honestly, by people that has actually chosen to stay in a low end hotel.

You are not living up to the standards of a mid-range hotel, so why pretend being it, and attracting more people that will become as disappointed as me, and write more negative reviews?

extremely nice people, but by western standards, it would be 1/2 to 1-star due to lack of cleanliness. There is no shower- a faucet on the wall but no curtain, wall, anything to separate it from the rest of the bathroom- only a bucket beneath it.
