Right from the time of our arrival when we were greeted with friendly, helpful and efficient service our 2 night stay was exceptional. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and the main need being quiet and cool after a hot day exploring the Taj and Red Fort. The buffet breakfast was all encompassing with a real variety and again, exceptionally helpful staff. I was travelling with my daughter, her husband and 2 young boys and of course young Australian boys' needs are quite demanding and were truly met by the Crystal Inn staff. The honesty too of not only the staff but the drivers of the taxis at their door excelled as a driver returned my grandson's camera which had been left in his cab and the reception staff pass it on. Thank you for for a wonderful stay in a City I have never forgotten (being my third visit to the Taj).

Crystal Inn is a new and sparkling clean hotel only 2 km from Taj Mahal. It's on a quiet side street next to a shopping mall and Kalakriti cultural center (where you can see a show every evening). Rooms and bathrooms are not huge in size but stylish and very clean. They have also a good rooftop restaurant (a la carte dishes a bit pricey) and a buffet breakfast / dinner. We got a double room for 2650Rs/night, the prices on their own web site are a bit higher though. www.hotelcrystalinn.com

We arrive in Agra and, having looked at several Hotels on the internet we were prepared for the worst. however, the Hotel Crystal Inn exceeded our expectations. They allowed us to check in earlier at 8.30 in the morning. A huge bonus given that we had been forced to wait 5 hours at our Hotel in Delhi two nights previously. For this, there was no extra charge. The staff were hugely accommodating, helping us to make reservations for future hotel visits as well as some excellent advice on places to visit in Rajasthan. The view from the top of the Hotel is beautiful, particularly in the evening and the food was well above the standard we had experienced in the restaurants close to the Taj. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and have recommended it to our friends who will be travelling with their two yesr old daughter. We will certainly be back again to see Kapil, Abhishek (the reception staff), Joy (General manager) and the rest of the staff!

Recently, my wife and I were at the Crystal Palace. It was our 20th anniversary and we were there for a night for our trip to the majestic Taj Mahal the following morning. I must say that the accommodation at the hotel was really value for money! Accolades to the supervisors and especially the manager, Mr Joy Samson, who truly ensured that our stay there would be a comfortable and enjoyable one. Even though we had checked in late at night, he stayed right through to ensure that all was well in the slight delay that we encountered while waiting for our room to be ready. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the furnishings were impressive. The toilet was also in excellent condition - well maintained and clean. We will definitely stay there again the next time...

Both of their restaurants in basement & on terrace serves excellent prepration food. only buffet breakfast is not very good with very less variety of eatables , one juice etc.The Hotel management is very caring. only little bad experience was the driver of the hotel texi tried to misguide us just for fetching few bucks. but thats not the problem of hotel management. We complaint the same to Hotel management who has taken it very seriously(i beleive).
I would definitely recommend this hotel & will also stay there in my next trip.

We had planned a two day trip from Gurgaon to Agra. We had booked the room for one night. Our day started with a wierd note. We had booked tkts for UPSRTC VOLVO. On reaching Sarai Kale khan, we realised that the Bust stand has shifted. On locating the new bus stand, we were told that our Bus has been cancelled :O . We were lucky to get a Non Ac deluxe MPSRTC bus. The journey was good till the last 15 KM before reaching Agra and we were stuck in a Road block for almost two hours. We finally reached Agra at 2p.m when we were supposed to reacch at 11 max. We somehow reached the hotel as even auto rikshaw wala infront of TDi mall ddnt know abt the Hotel. But somehow we reached and we were glad to know that are romms were ready and it took jst two mins to check in. Looking at the room, it felt smalled than the pics given in website. But, once out of that, it was really cozy...Big Pillows. sheets really neat and clean (I have dust allergy). Everything smelt fresh....view from the window was som brick wall. but the decor was awesome :) ... food served was good....the staff persnalised the dishes on request and it tasted gud....P.S. the Hotel does not have a BAR. :(
The Staff was really helpful, as we did not carry laptop n all n i need to check n urgent mail, they let us use there own system. One point, there was a wasp in our room and we noticed it just before checking out.... :P dont know from where it had come....Overall we jst loved the bed and ddnt feel like going out for sightseeing as we wanted to enjoy the bed more that anything....
PS: The Taj Mahal can actually be seen from the Roof Top :D

We only stayed one night here after seeing the Taj Mahal, but we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel and room were quite clean and modern, and the bathroom was suprisingly nice (best one we experienced in India!). It was reasonably quiet, although the area around the hotel is not the nicest, and I don't think I'd stay here for longer than a night or two because of that. Breakfast was pleasant, although the staff were overly keen to refill everything on your plate as you were eating, which some people might find a little intrusive. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

We were impressed, it is a new hotel and everything is new. Few points are my concern for this hotel:
1. The room is very comfortable and big enough, there is a small living hall in the room.
2. Nearby that is a new shopping center, very convenience to buy souvenir and dining (McDonald Restaurant is there). And I can see future will have more shopping center over there as they are under construction now.
3. The restaurant on the roof top is clean and big, however the staff was too busy didn't serve us.
4. We stayed the room in front, near to the disco the noise till 2am non-stop, can not sleep well even I had complaint to the front office! Maybe you can select the room behind.
5. The breakfast not many selections, please don't expect variety choices...
6. The location is very close to Taj Mahal!

Hope it helps. : )

We missed our train and got in at 1am. They were awake and showed us our room right away. The next day we stored our bags there all day and they helped us get a cab to the airport. The hotel was clean and breakfast was hot (though not as extensive as some others we got, but certainly good enough and plenty of it). We walked to the Taj at sunrise and beat the crowds which was nice. There was also a nice rooftop patio that they let us use in the afternoon even though it wasn't technically open.

It is around 4-5 kms. from Taj Mahal. We hired auto rickshaw to go to Taj, which took hardly 10 minutes. Good thing is that the shoping site Taj ganj is also nearby, from where you can purchase souvenirs. Also it is at walking distance from the TDI Mall.

We stayed here for 1 night on our Golden Triangle tour. After seing the Taj Mahal, we arrived at our hotel to a very nice and friendly staff. The hotel is located off the main road in Agra. As Agra does not have much to offer, the nearby mall is a nice place to visit to relax and shop. We had a room on the 3rd floor that was very clean and spacious. The room had good airconditioning and ventelation. We were told that the pool was |under construction" but after exploring the hotel there was no indication the hotel ever had one. We think this was just a tempting ploy to get you to stay and cool off in the hotel. We had dinner at the roof top hotel which had a good atmosphrere. The so called 'Taj view' is barely noticable but still worth mentioning. Overall we had no bad experiences with this hotel and would definately reccomend it for a cheap and clean stopover in Agra.

If one wants to stay at a Hotel in Agra at the budget of about 3000 rupees or so then this is the place. Located next to the trident and the malls. This place is fantastic.

I stay next to the hotel and keep coming here for parties and dinners.

Recently a friend had his wedding and he booked this hotel for his guests and since I frequented the rooms quite a bit I thought of writing a small review here.

The rooms according to me were very modern and all of them had good air conditioing and LCD tv's. Wooden floors.

It had a beautiful rooftop and great Indian Food.

Good place if one wants to visit the Taj and stop over at a quite place for the night.

The only drawback is that this place remains booked throughout so getting a room could be tricky !!

Having this hotel booked as part of a package and not knowing much about the place, we approached the Crystall Inn with some trepidation. Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and clean the rooms were and how helpful the staff were during our stay. The front staff were very helpful when organising a tuk tuk to take care of us for the night and the buffet breakfast offered the best range of food we had during our 3 week stay in India. Some of the amenities (spa / rooftop area) are just not functioning without any signs of reopening, however the general cleanliness and quietness of the place make up for it in spades.

Right, we were very skeptical about our booking at Crystal Inn in Agra and we had braced up for an unpleasant stay despite reading moderate reviews on Trip Advisor. We arrived at the Agra Cant Railway Station by Bhopal Shatabdi from Delhi at about 8.25 AM in the morning and after being hounded by hordes of registered Taxis at the station, we convinced ourselves to hire one for a whole day's tour. The Driver brought us to the Hotel by 9.15 AM (The hotel is a couple of Kilometres from the station) in a peaceful locality, just behind a huge mall (TDI Mall). Upon arrival, we found that the staff were very friendly and offered to check us in, even though the check in time was in the afternoon. We had chosen an executive room which was on the fourth floor served by a lift. Although the room and the hotel decor is nothing to boast about, it is extremely clean, fully furnished with all necessities including Air Conditioning, LCD TV with Cable facilities, Intercom, clean sheets, towels, coffee & tea making facilities, complimentary water and a small fridge with some snacks and drinks at moderate prices.

There is a roof top restaurant, which according to the signs in the hotel gives views of the Taj (and it's called Taj View or something) but We didn't get an opportunity to dine there. We did have an early morning breakfast at the basement and it was quite sumptuous although not fully stocked.

We took the hotel cab from Agra to Jaipur the following morning and it was extremely comfortable. According to the driver the hotel has invested in a brand new fleet of vehicle which has good climate control, plush seating etc. Although we had fully paid up the hotel desk for the journey, the driver did try to fleece us, first by convincing us to take a guide at Fatehpur Sikri, who knew very little about the heritage monument.

Anyway, I would definitely recommend the hotel for anyone on a budget. Not sure about standard rooms, but executive rooms are quite comfy.

We stayed here with teenage children and ended up here as our other choices were full. Newly opened and lacking much/any character it has the most comfortable beds and best towels we met on the whole of our trip. We didn't eat here as thought it was rather expensive - we did manage to negotiate the initial room rate we were offered right down. This hotel is a good mid range choice in a place sorely lacking nice not too expensive options. We all loved the Taj - what a magnificent building - but thought that Agra itself is the pits - really really dirty, even by Indian standards. What a shame the authorities can't sort out the surroundings of this fabulous place.

I visitied this hotel with my family while I visited Agra in Sep. After reading quiet a few reviews (most frank ones were on Trioadvisor), I decided to go with this. The hotel is in one corner, but the advantage is, its quiet close to the Taj. Hence finding the hotel at night was a bit difficult. To my bad luck, the hotel's land lines weren't working. Hence, tried of sending an email (thanks to my BlackBerry) to confirm the booking. It worked !! The mgr then gave me an alternate cell# where in I could call up for directions. (no idea what would people w/o Blackberry would do).
Upon reaching, the staff was very courteous. Check in didnt take much time. The rooms are quiet small & was a bit stinky. If you plan to relax & watch TV, the cable reception is absolutely pathetic.
Dinner taste-wise was quiet good but very exhorbitant. The breakfast next day was quiet good though not very elaborate. But the guys gave excellent service, serving warm parathas, etc.
Overall a mixed experience...hence worth a try !!

I don't think anyone likes the city of Agra but we all come here for the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. It's worth an overnight stay to get in early to the Taj the next morning. I recommend buying your tickets the day before if you do this, I didn't know that was an option.

The hotel is decent, clean and you can barely see the Taj from the rooftop. The internet was free so I was able to get caught up on things. The breakfast buffet was excellent and just the ticket after the early visit to the Taj, make sure you get back by 10am though! It was convenient to have a mall within walking distance, there's a Maccas here if you need a break from Indian food, though I like Indian food, my husband didn't.

The breakfast at the hotel has a lot of room to improve, but to be fair the same can be said for most of the hotels in Agra in the same price range

All in all it is a good place in the budget and a grey location.

This place would be a 2 star in Europe - Rooms are small but to be fair, very clean with great air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and it is quiet at night. Staff were quite hospitable and accommodating helping with internet etc. Also, we paid half the room rate to stay on for a full day whilst waiting for our night train and when we didnt get on our chosen train, the hotel had no problem giving us another room when we returned and charged us only half the rate which was very decent. Breakfast is good and the staff very friendly in the dining room. One watch out is the rickshaws immediately outside the hotel are a complete ripoff. Walk 2 minutes up the road outside the McDonalds and you will save.
Overall, it is a good place to stay in Agra as it is a good place to escape the heat, the vicious touts, the smells and the chaos.

I stayed 4 nights in February 2011. A new hotel, just over a year old, a bit away from the bustle and hustle that is the Taj Ganj. 3 mins walk from Agra’s newest and largest shopping mall, and right next door to the Kkartikki concert hall, where nightly muscial shows are held, on the history of the Taj Mahal. All in all, an excellent location.

What I liked:
The rooms are spacious, very clean and bright, with good bathrooms and working plumbing – all things that until recently were a novelty in Indian hotels.
The food was excellent, so much so that I stopped eating out, and had all my dinners at the hotel. They have just one menu, used at their rooftop restaurant, their basement restaurant and for room service.
The staff was the highlight of my stay. Their friendliness, helpfulness and general attitude towards hospitality was absolutely refreshing, especially after years of suffering in Indian hotels. Things are changing in India, and for the better! You will find the staff constantly asking you to fill out customer satisfaction forms after each meal… these are obviously used as staff evaluation forms! You can of course decline, and just fill out one at the end of your stay.

What I didn’t like:
The noise level is unacceptably high. Thin walls provide no insulation from what happens outside, and boy, a lot happens outside! Loud music pounds during the day, and at night, parties at the rooftop restaurant filter down to the corridors… and there are private parties every night! One sat night was particularly bad, with the guests and kids next door running around and shouting till 3am. Calls to the reception had no effect.

The disrupted sleep aside, the real banger was when it came time to pay my bill. The credit card machine suddenly did not work. The phone lines were working, and with exaggerated fiddling of the machine, and trying several cards, all was not solved, and they said I just had to pay cash. At my insistence, they took their machine across the road to a shop and tried there, but again, it didn’t work. The machine kept giving this answer: “offline transaction declined”. I paid cash. This was a clear trick to get the customer to pay cash… confirmed by my cards working fine 4hrs later in Delhi.

It is most sad that a wonderful experience at the Crystal Inn had to end this way. Cash obviously rules in India… more than customer satisfaction and the prospects of future business.

In summary, I would recommend this hotel for its good value, but bring cash and be firm with the management about keeping the noise levels down.

We had tried to get into the Hotel Sheila, which is not that wonderful, but seemed to be highly recommended in the guide books. If our train hadn't been delayed by 9 hours we might have stayed there. So, we had our driver take us to the Crystal Inn. It was clean and comfortable, but not the "havelli experience" that we had grown accustomed to. It is a big skyscraper type modern hotel. Frankly, I don't know any hotel that I can recommend it Agra. However, the Taj Plaza, which is a competitor of the Crystal, which we noted later, is located right next door to the Amarvillas and even closer to the Taj. That too is a big modern style hotel---none of which are my cup of tea. I knew to ask for a heater

Travel agent booked us into this hotel. On the plus side our room was fairly clean with western style restrooms. While close to the Taj Mahal there is not much else around. Flies/mosquitos abounded in the room when we arrived so we sprayed prior to going to dinner and cleaned them up when we returned. Room was cool and heat was regulated so it could not be raised. Rooftoop restaurant has no view in the evening and was ill-prepared to handle multiple tables. Very slow service. We repeatedly asked why we hadn't received our Kingfisher beers only to finally be told they were out of beer and had sent a staff member out to buy some -they should have told us that immediately.
This is an average budget hotel but probably does well due to Agra's popularity.

I've stayed two nights in this hotel with my husband in january 2010. For the new year, we wanted to go to the Taj Mahal. Well... It is not costly, situated near a Mall, wich is important in a city like Agra, since it's difficult to find good shops and stores. Just correct. Good bathroom and nice small restaurant. We can say it's a "budget hotel", very reasonable price for a quite good hotel in agra. not far from Taj Mahal.

The hotel is situated some 2km away from the east gate to the Taj Mahal precinct, which is in good walking distance, especially as a part of it is declared as a pedestrian area. To Agra Fort, Agra Fort station and the main bus station it is approximately 5km, whereas it is roughly 9km to the station Agra Cantt.
The rooms are very comfortable, well maintained and nicely furnished. The restaurants (one in the basement, one on top of the building, from where you have an interesting view over the southern part of the city and to the Taj Mahal) offers a range of different dishes, which are safe to order.
Whenever you need some information, a porter, the housekeeping service or feel like having some food (be it in the restaurant or in your room) services are prompt.
Unfortunately, the informations provided were not always the right ones (e.g. with regard to means and frequency of transportation as well as the swimming pool: the latter was closed during our stay and the information on the website referred to as outdated). In addition, asking for something which was no problem in other places at all would entail some rather annoying measures. Surfing the internet at one point in time was only possible by paying the amount in cash. Checking out only one hour later (at 1 o' clock instead of noon) would have been charged at 500Rs (~8,50€; the price per night was about 25€).
In summary, rooms are really recommendable, the willingness to good service is present, but you should not expect complaisance if money can be earned by that.

The hotel was a good budget hotel but we booked there as it said it has a pool which it does not. They have changed it into a roof top restraurant. It is close to the east gate on the Taj Mahal about 1.5. km but you cannot use this road to get to the rest of town so it does feel quite far out. It was off any local tourist maps.

The room as nice and proabably the best standard we stayed in for this price bracket. They cleaned the room well each day.

The hotel was nice and clean and the staff where very helpful. Breakfast was included and this was very good. We eat in the hotel one night and found it quite pricey and the food wasn't any better than anywhere else.

This was a great Transitional hotel. The room was very plush but freezing cold that night, the AC and TV didnt work either. One of the staff tried to charge us an extra 200 Ruppees for 2 blankets until I told him he can store his blankets!! The breakfeast was a bit crud but considering we only spent one night here it was an ideal base to visit the Taj.

The sheets in my room were dirty. As usual for India, the staff was friendly. They advertise having room with two beds, but in fact they don't. The food that they serve in the basement restaurant was great : tasty and didn't make my stomach hurt :)
Same applies for the breakfast. It was diverse and plentiful.
The bathroom was ok, although somewhat basic.
But when I've got to bed I've found that the sheets had stains on them. It was too late in the evening and I was very tired to argue with the hotel staff, so I've just accepted them.
Don't exchange money in the lobby : the rate is not that good. No ATM nearby either (no matter what the lobby staff will tell you).
The hotel was quiet during the night, so I had a very good night sleep.

Our stay in Hotel Crystal Inn was out of compulsion. I believe the whole of India landed up in Agra in the long weekend of Rakshabandhan and hence there was a space crunch everywhere. We stayed there for a night only.
Although the location of the hotel is very good ( Taj Mahal is at walking distance, less than a kilometer), the services/amenities provided by the hotel was extremely disappointing. Rooms are clean and since our stay was just for a night so i cant comment about the housekeeping services. Bathroom looked clean when we checked in, but soon realised that the brush holder was not cleaned since the time it was installed. The hand faucet leaked and the bathrooms are extremely smelly even when spot clean. This was a mystery to me! No wonder, the housekeeping staff preferred to keep the fans in the bathroom to remain switched on all the time.
The only service that we tried to avail was of asking for drinking water to be sent in the room which they, yes, sent but in an open jug and just left it there. I was at a loss as what to do with it!! Thank God that I always carry a 5 l mineral water bottle in my car whenever we travel by car.
The worst part was the food. I say, even if you are cornered and must stay there, please dont dare yourself by trying their restaurants. The peas pulao was straight out of the wok in which i think chowmein was prepared, all smeared with poor quality or reused oil. The paneer hariyali kofta was a green coloured soft ball in a green gravy. The chicken kabab looked to be cooked but actually was not. The soup was arrowroot dissolved in hot water sprinkled with corns and just boiled pieces of chicken. The morning breakfast was equally bad. I couldnt decide on what to eat, so i left all the items on their own and settled down with a bowl of papaya. Fruits can never go wrong.

All the washrooms, be it in the lobby or restaurants are of road side quality and smelly..
Still up for it? Dare yourself and go there...

We really had a very, VERY bad experience with this hotel. First of all, we arrived late, like 10pm, we registered, gave our passports, ok, spent 20 minutes at reception. Finally we were in our room, trying to relax and preparing to go to bed, when reception called us that our In the meantime, we ordered an ice cream and a beer, and trust me, after 40 minutes and two calls to room service, there were no news of them. when calling to ask for the service they repeat "coming", "coming". probably took them more than expected. Things get worse when trying to check out, as they were determined to overcharged us with 10,5% more, saying that "altough you have a paper staying that full price is 2000, you need to add to that a 10,5%". NO SIR. When you book and print, and says FINAL PRICE, it's final price (needless to say we are both lawyers). So we spent more that 30 minutes arguing with receptionist, manager, and "people" around the reception. Not to say the best way goodbye to a customer. Another thing: IS NOT CLOSE TO TAJ MAHAL, it's more than 10 blocks by walking. Stopping the lies hopefully about this place.

I stayed there for a night to go around Agra and Fatehpur sikri in first week of March. So mainly I was there around morning and night time. Room are really small for the price I paid, 4,000/-. Room service took about an hour to get drinking water once I checked in. The toilet and the jet shower for cleaning was all dirty with the yellow/brown stuff YUKS!!!!!!! Housekeeping took another hour to change the jet shower. Also at that time forgot to get the extra towel which I had asked for my son. again an hour of delay. We had dinner outside and came back tired and slept well. Next day morning in breakfast we faced discrimination as we were brown and not white foreigners. The idli was half cooked. Paratha was also half cooked. To get a fresh one again takes lot of time. Overall not a comfortable stay. I would rather pay more and stay in a better place next time I visit Agra

Did not eat at hotel as had already booked restaurant overlooking Taj for 1st night & went to Macdonalds 2nd night. Told Reception about window on leaving & they did not seem interested. 3 star rated hotel & is in the lower end of 3 star.

Booked this Hotel many month in advance due to average reports combined with a "good" price. Beeing there for two nights, there would be no price good for it. I start with the positive things, ´cause there are very few:

- It´s very close to Taj Mahal
- for some reason they managed to make good food (for the amount of money you pay)

Now the bad things:
Our driver advised us not to get out of the hotel on our own, "bad area". Perfect! (It really looked like that when driving around there)

It was very loud all the night. Not from the area, but from the kitchen downstairs! Those guys manage to make noise in the middle of the night for hours! Really bad!

After checking in, we realized that the towels in our room were all dirty, as well as the bed itself. After complaining, they soon came to the room and replaced the towels to new and clean ones. They also changed the bedsheet and covers - but after leaving the room and checking again, the "new" sheets were still a little bit dirty. not with hairs like the first ones but still dirty. Also we realized that the window couldn´t be closed, so anyone could come easily in. Again, they showed up to fix the damaged closing unit. All went fast, but why do I have to get such things done for a booked and payed room?
The roof top restaurant may have seen better days like the hotel itself, too. Do not look to close at some spots - it´s just all run-down. When it comes to an order, prepare for some amusing (or sad?) situations! Here are a few "scenes" that happen (no joke!):
We entered the restaurant - also 2-5 staff members always run around doing nearly nothing, you have to wait a long time for some things. Also we were the only guests!
After reading the menue, it took a while for the waiter: "anything drink?" - "yes, beer and tea please" - Before we could mention our food wish, he left and didn´t return for a long time. Then came back with the drinks. After ordering two basic dishes, again it took about an hour! We still were the only ones! - oK, it tasted good (but not Perfec!)

As it was the only place to go at night, we spent the second evening there again. Nearly the same situation. Many waiters prepare tables and later some other do it again at the same. After ordering a tea and beer again, I saw one coming up the stairs with both placing it at some spot near the entrance. Waiting. Waiting. Nothing happens. Then one came up and placing the EMPTY(!) cup on the table. "Here is your cup of tea" - He left. No tea, no beer. Waiting. ("Hidden camera"?) Then the food came by another waiter. Still had no beer. Another one again came up and wanted to put away the STILL EMPTY cup, asking "do you want some more tea?" - Are they joking? Unfortunately not. They just didn´t know what to do or what somebody else did or did not. How come: 2 guests, 5 waiters. Later, 3 other guests came. The waiters realized, that there were (just a few) flies around, so to be good guys getting rid of them, the turn on some very old and damaged A/C, which made cold and strong wind - but didn´t get the flies out. So they showed up with some "electric tennis racket fly basher"! That makes some noise! And jumping around like clowns smashing flies, between us few guests trying to eat, It was more anoying and disturbing than those very few flies itself. It was some situation we didn´t know if it´s funny or sad .... GO SOME PLACE ELSE!

my stay at this hotel wasnt very enjoyable
there were a number of things that i think could be improved....
the hotel foyer was ok so initial impressions were not too bad....then we were shown our room - it was basic, which would be fine, but it wasnt very clean
it had small beds and a broken wardrobe a broken phone no complementary bottled water damp feeling bedding
there was a/c but it was clear that the hotel prefered you to use the fan as they turned off the a/c and put the fan on everytime you left the room
the towels may have been white once, but that was a while ago
the staff came to your room and waited for a tip until you gave them one
the room safe didnt work and its not really the kind of place where you feel safe leaving you valuables - we asked for a working safe but were told that yusef had the keys for the safe and he was away so we wouldnt be able to use one
there is a roof top place where you can just see the taj - it is quite far away - but that and the restaurant have dirty linen and cutlery - however the food was ok
overall i didnt enjoy my stay in the crystal inn
basic hygiene would turn this hotel from a bad bad hotel to a nice basic hotel

Technically this place has everything we would expect from a hotel in this category. It is located in a area not too far from the Taj Mahal - but a little lost outside the main routes. We had an OK sized room with a bed, TV, A/C, mini bar and a bathroom. Unfortunately the window was facing the hotels garbage facilities, fortunately hidden behind the blinds. Also the room was not very clean (with black feet after crossing the room barefoot) and the sheets were stained with - whatever.

The rooms were spacious, but needed some attention. You could hear everything that was going on outside the hotel as the windows didn’t fully close and the walls were thin. There was a party going on nearby too, so difficult to sleep. The room felt dirty and the towels were not clean, so we used our own. The bathroom was grubby.
We had dinner on the roof top restaurant which was ok and the restaurant staff was nice and friendly. The breakfast was cold, poor selection of food and drink.
If you stay here, please do not expect much.
I wished I had stayed somewhere else to have a pleasant evening and sleep after an absolutely fantastic day out.

Despite a prior request to have a top floor room, we were shown to a room behind reception down a smelly dingy corridor and after getting over the initial shock of the smell in the room we inspected the bathroom which was filthy, the towels were stained with what looked like blood and excrement and the bedding had not been changed as was apparent from the hair oil on the pillows and the hairs on the sheets. Despite telling us the hotel wAs full when we arrived, the manager offered us another room and said that we could have clean sheets if we requested them !! We declined after our guide told us the sheets were obviously not changed between guests and this was common practise in some hotels in India.

I booked this hotel through Expedia three months in advance after reading variable but generally good reviews. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for myself, my wife and sister-in-law. The rooms were paid for on booking. We arrived at the hotel at 5 pm after a five hour trip from Delhi to be told that they had a technical problem on one whole floor and would have to move us to their other hotel the Bhoomi Residence. We were decidedly unhappy at this as the main reviews of that dump from european reviewers (as opposed to Indian who seem to accept much lower standards) were pretty poor, but we agreed to look at the rooms at the Bhoomi with the proviso that if we didn't like it we would get rooms at the Crystal Inn. When we went to the Bhoomi with one of the goons from the Crystal Inn it became apparent that they were not interested in showing rooms and had no real relationship with the Crystal Inn. Unfortunately for the goon he didn't seem to appreciate that my wife (who is of Indian origin) could speak hindi and understand every word of conversation between him and the uncooperative receptionist at the Bhoomi Residence. They eventually showed us two rooms. These were not very clean, one had a torn shower curtain, both had dirty showers and bathrooms. We told the Crystal Inn representative that we would stay at the Crystal Inn. When we got back there, magically 3 rooms were available and although they were not exactly clean and lovely, at least they were better than the Bhoomi Residence. The whole thing appeared to be a scam - the hotel was fully booked and more couples were calling ad-hoc for rooms. We had already paid for our rooms so if they could move us to the Bhoomi (which was a lower rate for them) they could make money on us and rent the rooms out at full rate - nice. When it comes to the hotel - anybody who thinks it is clean must have very poor eyesight , no sense of touch (the bed sheets didn't feel fresh) and little sense of smell (the bathroom).
After not accepting their fairy story the management were decidedly cool. The next morning at 5 am my sister-in-law got a wake up call that she hadn't booked. The following morning at 6 am I got a call from "room service" about the tea I hadn't ordered. Coincidence? The only plus points for this dump are the restaurant staff who are pleasant and helpful. The food isn't bad either.

They made fun of us first, and then, the manager got extremely mad at us and started yelling that "we were the first tourists to complain about his hotel ever", and that "Its the weather!!"Besides bedbugs, the bed linens' had dirt, men hair and even BLOOD stains!
The carpet in the hall smells, and I believe this is the bedbug nursery.
We moved to a nearby hotel that was not too bad, at least, it didn't have bugs.

The menu boasted many meals most of which were not available (thank god for pizza hut) and staff did not understand the words “not spicy”. We went up to the roof top restaurant to try to find somewhere to sit and read out of the heat and the monkey’s chased us off and attacked the staff who intervened. Staff were mostly good hearted but had difficulty with English spoken in Australian. Most agreed to everything we said leaving you thinking that you had ordered a coffee or lunch and nothing arrived. By some margin the worst hotel I have stayed in - either in 4 weeks Indian vacation with my family or 10 weeks business travel in India this year.

Actually the hotel itself is not bad - it just needs a complete change of staff (except housekeeping which was pleasant and efficient).

1. the job of reception is to "receive" i.e. welcome, not treat you with annoyed suspiciion
2. if you reserve a family room, the room should be ready for a family
3. is the breakfast self-serve or not: they didn't know, and we could never work it out?
4. if you want to serve Italian food options, go eat them in an Italian restaurant to see how they should be cooked before inflicting them on guests. Or employ cooks who can at least read the instructions on the box.
5. if you want to serve India food in India, don't make it out of a packet!! I had the least convincing Biriani I've ever had in this restaurant, and I've tried Biriani in Venezuala once.
6. don't open the restaurant while building works are going on
7. don't get a 3rd floor room: the chairs in the restaurant scrape on the ceiling so loud you can't hear yourself sleep
8. the maddening Indian habit of having the TV on at all hours at full volume is particularly acute here; try switching the aircon off, then set the volume so you can just hear it, then switch the AC back on - all of you!
9. the "swimming pool" may be OK when they build it

we had the misfortune to spend three nights of our trip in this hotel. Altough having been told by the agency that there would be no problems with hot watter this was not true and we had to take showers with cold watter. In addition, the bathrooms were not clean and roof repairs were done during the night so the noise made it imposible to sleep. Ontop of that, we arrived at 8:30 pm after sightseen and rooms were not even made!!! On top of that one ring went missing from the room eventough we had locked the door and allegedly only their cleaning personnel had entered. I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone travelling to Agra. I personnally would have avoided it if I had known all this before hand.

I'm sharing my bad experience to hopefully help others from being spared.
The hotel staff was very welcoming on the day of the arrival but the service went steadily downhill from there. By the end of 14 days the staff was just downright rude and unhelpful.

The food was ok - breakfast buffet was pretty unimaginative with the same items almost everyday and there was a bad underlying taste in the food - like coconut oil in butter (weird right?)! The dinner quality varied from decent to bad on different days and I should know because I stayed here for almost 14 days.

The rooms are small but clean but the service is a major concern. The room service almost never cleaned the room unless insisted specifically. No water was provided in the room again unless I called the reception.

However the icing on the cake was when on returning from work one day at 8pm, I found my room door left open. And TV switched on to a cricket channel which I never would have been watching. On complaining to the management, they politely replied that it was ok since nothing had been taken from my room.

After that I switched from this hotel to Mansingh where I spent the next 10 days in comfort and with absolutely no problem.

This place, HUH! I cant recommend to any of my friends for sure. Its priced as if its a 3 star hotel, but following things are glaringly bad:
1. No reception. Receptionist did not talk to us for almost 30 mins when we entered this place. After long wait and after showing my frustration, they gave us a room which I have booked previously through makemytrip. There is only guy at the reception is he is always busy on phone. This was felt when tried to reach reception/room service/or whatever.
2. No bath tub and the room in which we stayed, the toilet was not clean! I cant tolerate any dirty toilets and I didn't pay INR3600 to see a public toilet.
3. No swimming pool. Swimming pool is under construction and its 7ft width and 8 ft in length.
4. AC does not work well too.
5. To crown it all, eating place is full of house flies. Yuck!
