I stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days, the experience was peaceful yet disappointing. The best thing about the hotel is its location, the view of the gigantic brahamputra river is mind blowing especially the sunrise and sunset. The room service is ordinary and the staff is polite, however, need training. I believe the hotel was in the process of renovation, however, from the looks of my room the workmanship and the design is disappointing.

The place was costly but the ambience was good and worth spending the money. The location is scenic.

I, with my daughter, arrived by morning flight on 13 October 2010 and my husband was to join us by evening flight. I asked the driver to take us to a good and reasonable hotel so that we can relax during the day. He took us to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoka on the banks of river Brahmaputra. The hotel looked good from outside. Inside, the hotel was clean and tidy and the staff was well mannered. The restaurant of the hotel was nice with good food and good view of the Brahmaputra river.
Not very far from the central shopping area and the Kamakhya Temple, not very far from the city/ airport, I liked this hotel very much for its good food and its ambience, which was excellent. Though not located in any posh locality, the view from the hotel was excellent.

It is pleasure to stay an Ashok Group hotel at a such a low price of around Rs 3700/- in the capital of Assam. Well furnished, clean and decorated rooms. Simply just about a kilo meter away from main markets which can be approached by cycle rickshaw or auto rickshaw. Cycle rickshaw charges around Rs 30/- and auto rickshaw charges just Rs 50/- for droppings. The view of Brahmaputra river is the builtin attraction on the rear side of the rooms. The river is very wide enogh and is just a pleasure to watch it.

The hotel was acceptable in a 2-3 star way, but its rates were too high for it to provide value for money to travelers. Plus points were the view of the Brahmaputra River and friendly staff. Negative points include lack of cleanliness, slow service at breakfast, and we could not pay with chip-based credit cards.

I stayed for 2 nights in Brahmaputra Ashok and for INR 5500/night I expected much more than what I got.....
The towels and bed sheets were gray by age and some were stained. The hallway outside my room (which was on the fourth floor and should be well isolated from the kitchen) smelled like curry. Breakfast was supposed to begin at 7:30am, but in the first morning the staff only began preparing at 7:45am when 5 guests were waiting around. In the second morning there wasn't even any sign that anyone was going to prepare the breakfast, and I had to ask the Reception before they could get me a bowl of cereal.
On my arrival pick-up, the transport manager who met me at the airport asked me to pay for the airport parking fee of INR 40. I was a bit surprised since I thought it was included in my travel package (verified by my travel agent later), but paid anyway. However, at my departure drop-off to the airport, the driver again asked for the INR 40 airport parking fee. I refused to pay this time as I didn't understand why my drop-off would require parking.
As nice as the river view might be, I'd be happy to give this hotel a miss.
The food at Ushaban restaurant is made of some of the finest ingredients and the farm fresh produces. We take special care at our hotel restaurants in preparing each and every dish to create the most sumptuous fare.
