A strictly No Frills Hotel... Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas will still give you more bang for your buck. Conveniently located at the Ajmeri Gate end of the New Delhi Railway station, it provides easy access to Train & Metro station and even the Airport (Airport Metro). The next cheapest option to this would be in some shady area of Delhi. Approach is strictly OK and interiors are strictly functional yet effective. The entire hotel is self service and other than the room service that changes the linen, all the rest including refilling water, Ironing etc needs to be done on your own at the common area. The restaurant on the ground floor provides a decent fare though the nearby Connaught place has many more options. The staff is courteous though could be a little better trained. Good for a convenient night stay if you have an early morning train/ flight.

Neat & Clean rooms with all basic facilities.

Negatives : Booking & Checking In is difficult (mostly booked)

Great Value for the room rate (1100/-)

This hotel is very beautiful.

The rooms were clean & beautiful. Room service was great.
Reception staff was polite.

For internet, I had to buy internet cards (available at reception).

I think I paid about INR 1200 per night.

There is a metro station close to the hotel (within walking distance). The metro is a great way to travel within Delhi.
Connaught place is about 15 mins (by road) away.

I didn't try the restaurant at the hotel.

The hotel's taxi service is very expensive.

There is an auto/taxi stand near the hotel. Prepaid autos/taxis are available.

Overall great.

Location is simply great - near metro and train station. Rooms are very clean, ironing facilities, tea, mineral water provided for free, a pharmacy at the front door.
The only thing I didn't like was the restaurant.
A great choice for budget travelers and those staying in Delhi for a short time.

I stayed at this place and was very satisfied for the value for money. Somethings that I thought a low cost hotel would not provide, but was pleasantly surprised to see:

1. Electric kettle
2. Ingredients to make Coffee/Tea
3. Mineral water (2 bottles)
4. Flat screen TV
5. Neat towels

I was very impressed with the kind of cleanliness maintained as well. Any place I go henceforth, I would first check if there is Ginger Hotel available. They have saved budget travelers from haggling with third-rated lodges.

Given the location and the price, this is probably the most value for money hotel in Delhi. The service is good, the rooms clean and the food is authentic. However, the only drawback is that the road leading to the hotel is congested. However, that hardly matters once you have checked in. Overall, an excellent package.

Amazing hotel with a great value for money... have tried many hotels in delhi but for the price range below 1500 this hotel is truly outstanding... amazing interiors with spacious rooms with facilities of 5 star hotel like coffee maker, refrigerator, gym and a restaurant downstairs.. Location of the hotel is also very strategic. nearest hotel to railway station, bus station and metro... an ideal budget hotel to stay with families when on vacations.... the best part about this hotel is no disturbance guaranteed....

Booked through IRCTC, though hotel has its own website as well.

Great hotel!

I was in Delhi for a week attending a conference. Ginger is a very new hotel. No frills just the necessities, but boy are they great.

The rooms are modestly sized, but very functional. Very clean, all new furniture and fittings. All amenities required are there.

Ground floor houses a self service Indian fast food type restaurant, clearly a local favorite. Good tasty value for money food.

Quick professional staff, friendly and helpful.

Given the price and comparing to other hotels my conference colleagues were staying in (which came recommended by the organizing committee) I had by far the better deal. Several of my colleagues became won over Ginger hotel fans.

I have booked the hotel from Kolkata through their website. It's a very good hotel. Location is very near to New Delhi Railway Station, Metro Station, CP etc. Though the hotel is very near to New Delhi Railway Station, you will not get any disturbance from that due to its location.

They do not have any room service facility on call. But they will clean your room on a daily basis. Double beded and Four Beded Family rooms are available. Rooms are equiped with LCD TV, AC, small freeze etc and most imporant clean bed and bathroom.

They have a self service Restaurant at ground floor and a medicine shop at hotel compound.

Negative point is that you cannot get spot booking and their check in time is 1 PM. So if you reach there early, you have to wait or you need to take a room by paying half day's charge extra. Rest everything is fine.

We booked this hotel for our stay in Delhi mainly based on its good repo from my friends . And it is a good to stay at ginger hotel in delhi, really.

We have stayed at many hotels over the years, often luxury ones with impeccable details and fantastic designs. Price-wise ginger hotel is on par with these better-class hotels. Room are good spacious as well as good decorated neat & clean environment and staff are well behaved with the guest .

It is one of the best service that makes it worthwhile staying in this ginger hotel. The staff are social at just the right level and they go to great length to make you feel at comfortable.

Even my family, who did not stay in this hotel, was feel very comfortable while staying at ginger hotel in Delhi.

This said, there is nothing wrong with the facilities. The room we had was spacious and pretty, the breakfast is good and the food is excellent over there

And as many people have written before. hotel ginger is a place you would definitely come back to and recommend to your friends. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant!!!

Ginger Hotel (also known as Rail Yatri Nivas) at New Delhi Railway Station is perhaps the best value for money hotel. Given its prime location and pricing starts from Rs 999 for a double room and Rs1199 for a twin room, its a good hotel to chek in.

Booking a room is easy thru their website. It has a 24 hr cafeteria, a medical store. There is no room service (you really dont need one here)

The best thing is its proximity to Metro station which means you can roam around Delhi easily and come back even late night through Delhi Metro. The lift to New Delhi Metro station is just 50mts from the Hotel entrance. Also since its behind New Delhi Railway station its accessible thru other means at any time of the day. Now with airport line of Delhi Metro commissioned you can catch a metro to Airport from here. ( I stayed on Jan 27th and missed this, the service started later this year)

The standard set by Ginger is a benchmark for others to follow. Cleanliness is one thing you dont find in budget hotel, but Ginger is an exception. Tea/Coffee maker is another added advantage. There is an iron board and iron at every floor. Travel Desk is also available. Wi fi is available for a fee (dont need it as everyone carries a data card)

But a lot of new concepts where brought-in by ginger when they started a few years ago which meant budget travellers get more for the money they pay.

The only drawback (by Indian means) is the 12 noon chek in/chek out policy which means that if you arrive early morning you need to pay for 2 days or wait till 12 noon. Also though there is an early chek in possible, it was not made available. I had called and confirmed that I needed an early chek in as I was arriving with my family by 11am, I was told on phone that it would be possible when i reach there. But when I reach there they said i have to wait till 12. Another drawback are the honking by train engines. If you a sleep sensitive person, you might not like it.

But all in all a great hotel for a great price.

Amazing location, very close to the nerve centre of the city. Its very convenient to travel to any part of Delhi as all modes of transports are available right next to the hotel.
Food can be a little concern if you plan to dine in the hotels food court, but in terms of accomodation it just great value for money.

Ginger hotels offers a fantastic leisure experience at affordable price. It would be good if Ginger can expand to other major cities like Mumbai. While they do have a restaurant, it would be good if the food could be ordered to the room by calling the room service guys. Since it is extremely close to the railway station, the entrance to the hotel is close to the parcel division of the railways which gives it a slightly negetavity.

If you are on a tour to Delhi. Ginger Delhi is the best place to live there.
It is right above New Delhi Metro Station which gives you access to any place in Delhi.
You just need to get down in hotel, walk not more than 40 steps, take another lift to directly Metro Station !

I booked Family Room @ 1300 INR. Unbelievable rate ! I was on a tour with my Grandparents.

However this Hotel is Self Service themed. After check-in, you get a Card to your room. You need to carry baggage on your own using trolleys. There is no room service, its not needed though ! Food plaza is located on ground floor, just few floors away.

It is Cumsum Food plaza, open 24 hours a day ! You can get variety of food items. Ofcourse Self Service here too !

But there are few things where we need service. Though we booked Family room of 4, we had only 1 towel in bathroom. So repeatedly requested reception for towels. After 3-4 requests, I got towels. They need some more staff.

They clean room once a day and also restock 4 Mineral water bottles and coffee/tea sachets. There's an electric kettle in the room.

16" LCD TV is quite small. It was not having all channels. Even not DD National And DD News. As it is Capital of India, they must have those channels on the TV.

Travel Desk could be helpful bust costly. I asked about drop service at Airport, their rate was 900 INR. I asked at outside, Taxi Stand is just in front of the Hotel. Its Railway Station area so you can get taxi or rickshaw anytime. We managed to get a taxi to airport

There is an ATM center in hotel only and a pharmacy as well. I used ATM center to withdraw some cash.

You can see glorious sunrise from windows of the Hotel. Rising Delhi looks nice. As full hotel is air tight and, there was no effect of cold on us !

The thing I liked most about this hotel is location. It is nice to catch early morning train from NDLS.
2 lifts access to metro station is awesome :) . We roamed whole Delhi with metro only. And rickshaw at few places. We were used to leave hotel at 9AM, see few places, come back for lunch and again site seeing in the evening. It is right above metro station !

You do need to book it early as rates are attractive and bookings get full. Its a really the best place to stay in Delhi.

I stayed here for a night only on 8th December as next day I was shifting to a different Hotel. I had booked this hotel because of convenience, as my train was arriving late around 11ish so I preferred to spend I night here and shift the next day. I wished I could stay longer. The rooms though a little small are absolutely self sufficient with everything you need - a tea/coffee maker, fridge, writing table, etc. etc. - all this for a song INR1100. I had come to know that if you do not book this hotel in advance then chances of a room is impossible, so I had booked a well 2 months in advance as I had known my travel plans, I was lucky. The locational advantage, if travelling by train, is the best as it lies within the NDLS premises on the Ajmeri Gate Side. In future I will keep coming to Ginger on every delhi trip,= cant think of any other place - locational advantage, so reasonable and wonderfulisiosly amazing.

It was a fantastic stay at ginger hotel in New delhi very close to new delhi. Ginger as mostt of us know is TATA group enterprise so it has to be good the ginger hotel near new delhi railway station was previously known as yatri niwas when built by Railway now it is maitained by Ginger and no doubt very well maintained by them considering the deteriorating condition yatri niwas had in the past. The rooms are clen neat with proper air condition and nice bed and the charges are as per the service. It is a seven storey building with good and descent staff. and nice and good standard of service maintained by the Ginger. It was really good stay at the hotel and was very convinient to board my train from there as it is only five minutes walking distance from the hotel.

Hi, I stayed at Ginger Delhi from 18-20Aug 2010 (3days), with wife and kid. It was a TWIN ROOM , tariff-1199 per day. All rooms are the same, dunno why Twin room is priced high!!. I'll put my review sequentially-
1. Ginger can be booked online and beforehand only (or else you go to reception and book atleast 15days in advance). I was lucky enough to get a room online 10 days before !! Ive tried earlier also but it always showed booked.
2. Their online booking is simply unreliable at times.. Ginger only knows how it works.
3. The rooms are small (12ftx12ft), but kept very clean and tidy. Window AC works fine. LCD TV has limited channels. Washroom was particularly very clean and useable at all times. Liquid soap+shampoo is provided + 1 set of towels.
4. As u know, there is no room service, except for the TV/AC and daily cleaning. But trust me, u dont need it. U have trolleys for luggage and 2 good lifts in place.
5. The ComeSum restaraunt at Gnd floor is good. BEWARE- there's only Buffet brkfst in the [email protected]/- per head.. way overpriced!! The brkfst was not worth the price also... cold stuff and not much variety. otherwise the Thalis etc are good for dinner (sometimes thats the only option available). Other option is Dominos room delivery.
6. The Bed has a 8" thick mattress- i cudnt sleep properly, being used to hard bed.
7. They give 2 800ml Bisleri everyday+Tea kits which works good with electric kettle+fridge.
8. They never pick up their reception number when called from outside.
9. 200m from Ajmeri gate side- easy walk from the station, though the outside is very shabby place.
10. We saw lots of ladies staying in groups as well as single... secure that way.
11. Checkout time is harsh- 11 AM + 30min grace. Overthat u get [email protected]%. Same for checkin... I had to book for DAY-USE since we had checked in at 7AM.
12. Since the rooms are generally booked online and in advance, u can be sure u get good and decent gentry staying in the hotel.

Hotels in paharganj and arakashan road are most unreliable if all u want is the trusted brand and value for your rupee.
Its a no frills hotel. owned by railways and managed by Ginger(Tata group) and thats what makes all the difference.
Services include everything that u need and can ask for.
and nothing which u "dont" really want to pay for.
the only thing missing is probably "free broadband"
but thats justified given the security concerns.
but u can always buy this service, if needed.
the Comesum restaurant is just great to provide snacks to full sized lavish tandooris.
the best part is "self service" so u dont have a waiter ticking a timer for how long u want to be there.
Good things comes in small packets (quantities)
so few hundred rooms in Ginger are not enough for 'walkin-checkin" travellers.
u need to book weeks in advance.... but thats worth it... for the sheer peace of mind u have once u r in it.
CONS: the taxi service in office is little costly, but if u r new to city its worth it because the stray taxi/auto outside will exploit u if u r new to delhi's typical treatment....
They really need to be trained for "atithi devo bhava" theme of Govt of India.

I stayed in Ginger New Delhi in Feb 2010. I have to say this is one of the best low cost no frills hotel. There is no room service but there is a 24 hours restaurant in the ground floor with good quality food and drinks. The rooms are very clean and tidy. House keeping staff come every morning and clean the room and replace the bed linen and towels.

There is a A/c in the room with a tv , telephone, wifi internet, the attached bathroom have 24 hours hot/cold water.

The location is close to New Delhi railway station and also the New Delhi Subway/metro station. But the location of the hotel is towards the cargo area of the station so its kinda dirty and smelly. But the hotel has 24 hours security and once you enter its gate ur in heaven.

The staff are nice and will assist you if required.

I just payed Rs 3000(less then USD $ 100) for 3 nights stay in a Twin room. I think thats a great value for money.

Also you must book in advance as this hotel is sought after by a lot of travelers.
Also this hotel is part of chain of hotels owned by respected Indian company Tata group.

I find Delhi hotels for expensive than Dubai or Bangkok and comparable to Europe at least when it comes to money.

This is a perfect place if you have to catch a train from New Delhi. You can't expect a better value as it offers you an airconditioned room for Rs. 1000. The staff are well trained. It's got a self-service restaurant on the ground floor, which is open 24 hrs and reasonably priced.

I found the travel desk expensive for airport transfer or city tours.

The room is very well organized and has all the necessary facilities. It has a flat screen TV, a good bathroom with all necessary toiletries. The air-conditioning was proper and the bed was comfortable. Even though it is very near to the New Delhi Rly Stn. there was no disturbances what so ever.

The Metro station is very near to the hotel which connects you to most places in Delhi. With the Airport Express Metro getting commissioned, getting to and from the airport will be very easy.

The restaurant was very good and served good, hygienic stuff. You have a dress ironing station in every floor and a gym on the ground floor.

The only point you need to be aware is that you need to book well in advance.

Overall a good experience - the rates too are not high...

I am a regular at Ginger Delhi and love the place. My only regret would be times when I have not got the booking and have had to stay elsewhere. The place rocks. For a measly 999, you have a very clean
room. A clean bed, a clean toilet and a comfortable desk and chair to work on. Added to these are a flat screen TV. What more can one want? You have a 24 hour restaurant on the ground floor. It is not the greatest but I am not complaining. The location is amazing. Walk out of the place and in 2 minutes you will be at the Metro rail station. That is bliss.

Just a word of caution, the place is booked very fast and they don’t open much in advance so you need to keep calling the call centre and checking up if they have opened the booking (They do offer to take down your number and call you back when it opens and believe me they have always called me atleast). The check in and check out times are rigid so people travelling by Rajdhani Express from Mumbai, you will reach at 0830 but your room will not be available till 1300 so I paid Rs. 500 and got the room for half day and got on with my work.

All in all a great place to be in. Can only hope for more rooms so that it does not get filled out so fast. Of all the places I have lived in Delhi, this one is the best. Real VFM and very neat too.

I stayed in ginger, delhi for 2 nights/3 days and my stay cost me 2400 Rs. in total for a double bed room (2 adults) including all taxes.
Its situated within 100 metres of New delhi railways station and it took me 3 mins to reach the platform to catch my train after i checked out of the hotel.
"value for money" , this title has almost become a cliche for this property.
The restaurant (Comesum) serves delicious, variety of food in very affordable prices and its open 24 hours which is a good thing. There is wifi connectivity, a 24 hour pharmacy and a very friendly and helpful staff to make the stay enjoyable.
Do not expect the rooms to be super luxurious or something because this is a budget hotel with 999 per night basic price and comfortable/simple yet elegant rooms equipped with tea maker, fridge, lcd tv, ac etc.
The only problem you can face is that its almost fully booked all the time. I made my booking 8 days in advance. Its so always full due to cheaper price and close to the railways station.
(PS:- no food service in the room )
All in all, Thank you Mr. Tata

Because of unavailability of rooms we left early.

It is really hard to find a good hotel for a reasonable price in Delhi. Ginger is an exception: for only 1,100 rupees a day, it offers very neat, cosy and well equipped rooms. You can pay five times this price in other hotels and won't get the same services and comfort. I believe Ginger is the only budget hotel in Delhi with an international standard.

The location isn't perfect - many cab drivers simply are unable to find it - but just outside the hotel there is an entrance to the metro station. And Delhi's metro is a lifesaver.

I would only advise the staff to introduce some western meals in the cafeteria. While they don't do so, western travellers can have their breakfast in the room, since it provides a coffee maker and a minibar.

The ambience of the hotel came as a surprise, it is located right in the heart of the city, next to the busiest lane of new delhi, opposite the railway station and still it maintains the serenity of a hill station. The booking is hassel free, either directly at ginger or at irctc web site, the rooms are too good to be true with lcd tvs, a nice coffee bar and a mini bar. Pls do not expect any room service as that is the usp, the only flaw is the comsum eatry at the ground floor which is a big let down....rest its a power packed place with no cost

The ambince of the hotel is excellent (of course the floor is slippery at the entrance as well as inside). The check-in time is surprisingly fantastic (less than 5 minutes). The receiption people behaviour is very good. The room is very compact and cozy. Every thing is available what we generally need (except for a bucket and mug to take bath). Tehre is a colour tv, a/c, table, chair, all.......Overall I liked the hotel.

We had reached Delhi in the afternoon and had to catch a flight for Leh next day early morning. The hotel people were kind enough to book a cab for airport at the odd hours of 3 am. Room, facility, dining, check-in everything was excellent that too at very economical rate.

Now this is what is called a great hotel at a great location with the best price.

I stayed in this hotel for two days and had booked a "standard room' meant for two people due to non availability of a single occupancy during booking time (i know its a waste of resource ;) ). The rooms are awesome! Very much clean.
The corridors and the waiting lounge was very comfortable as well.

The bathroom was good too but with no bathtub :( (It does matter to some !). It seems that the commode was meant for those people with a height >6.5 feet as when you have to use it your feet cannot touch the floor. (What the heck?)

The hotel has a restaurant named Comesum which is a chain of restaurants tied up with IRCTC which serves amazing food which being tasty was hygienic at the same time.

The best part was its location. Its located right next to the New Delhi railway station(NDLS). So if you are coming by train you could even walk to the hotel. For local travel the metro station is again at a walking distance in fact closer than NDLS.

As far as my stay was concerned I faced no problems except for they don't allow to take your car near the portico and you have to take your luggage and walk for some distance (not much). It could be bothersome when one has a lot of luggage but shouldn't be a deciding factor according to me given the security issues which the country faces.

All in all my stay was good and I don't see any reason why I should give anything less than five in ratings. The negatives i mentioned shouldnt be a deciding factor as far as I believe. thanks for reading....

I found it extremely comfortable, very near to New Delhi Rly station travelling to the hotel by a cycle rickshow only. There is a metro entry just out side the hotel. A very good restaurant with a very reasonable price.

If compared Room rent vs Cleanlilness , it will rank-1 in India. Normally the middle class cannot efford a lot of money in hotel, but desire cleanliness , a good restaurant etc, which is very well available in Zinger. It is also located extremely well convenient place. For Train Traveller, even better. Now onwards I even prefer to spend some money for this hotel to stay rather than choosing to free stay in our guest house in Noida.

This is an excellent choice and great value for the price. The room and bathroom were clean, A/C was great, flat screen TV with cable, hot water (though much better in morning than night), very cheap phone calls, internet in the lobby and very helpful staff. Restaurant is ok. If you check their website, it will show it fully booked for months to come. In reality, it seems to only take reservations in the short term. Excellent location right next to the New Delhi Station. although everyone will have a tough time finding it. Tell them to go to the New Delhi Station and then ask for the Rail Yatri Niwas. If you are walking, you have to walk through a dark, crowded industrial area to get to the hotel and solo women may not feel comfortable. Otherwise, highly recommended.

What can one get in New Delhi for 1000 rupees?

The price, the location and the Tata brand were my main consideration when I booked Ginger for our 3 night stay in New Delhi. The location is amazing - bang next to the railway station. Yet so peaceful, as if away from the city.

Once I got into the hotel, I didn't see a porter running towards me to pick up my baggage. Instead there were some super convenient trolleys - self-service is the mantra here.

The room is not of a five-star quality but just of the right size and has everything one needs. In the common area, there is facility to iron your clothes. Amazingly designed to save costs and yet not compromise on the comfort of the stay.

There is no room service, but you could pack your food from the restaurant and carry it yourself.

Hats off to TATA for gifting us Ginger , Delhi. I booked this place after reading several reviews , but when I stayed there it exceeded my expectation.
Positives :
1. Spacious and spick and span rooms for just Rs.999/night
2. LCD TV
3. Very neat toilet/shower
4. Complementary mineral water ( 4 small bottles on daily basis)
5. Centrally located - Connaught Place outer circle is hardly 1 km. CP is the best place to dine.
6. 24hrs restaurant
7. Water dispenser on every floor
8. Very courteous staff including room service staff.
These were just to name a few.
Negatives :
1. No auto stand in front of the hotel ( got to walk abt 50 mts)
2. Restaurant not that great. They are not capable of handling more than 4 customers at a time. I had to wait for 1 hr to grab my breakfast. I suggest that you have food here only if unavoidable.
3. The travel desk has very few Indica A/Cs. It has more bigger cars ,which are more expensive. Indica A/C Rs.850 / 8hrs-80kms ,but Esteem - Rs.600 more.
Otherwise no complaints. I think Ginger should open similar hotels in Mumbai also.
Wish you a very happy stay.

Venkatesh

Stayed here on 2 separate occasions during March and rate the hotel very highly. Its location is walking distance from New Delhi train station which is ideal if you want to catch a train at 6 in the morning. The area around the hotel does not win any awards, in fact some parts look well dodgy, especially late at night. The hotel however has a security check point and they do actually check people coming into the hotel so no problems there. The rooms are very clean, modern looking, have a good air conditioning system, flat screen TV's, good hot showers and comfortable beds. Best of all the rooms are very inexspensive. There is a cafeteria down in the lobby area that serves various meals and drinks, the food is reasonable and good value.

Hotel Ginger is a quality accomodation and a steal for the low prices that it offers. The fact that the building belongs to the Railways and was a Rail Yatri Niwas may have a major role to play in its pricing.

But the makeover is unbelievable. Simple changes have made the hotel a great buy-in for business travellers who visit the hotel only for a good night's sleep.

The rooms are very tiny but well done up. The corridors are a maze but blame it on the old building and construction.

Currently accessibility from the city is a big problem because of the construction of Metro, but once that ends this hotel will be a hot favourite for people travelling by the Railways.

Ginger provides option of ordering food from any local restaurant nearby and also makes available their menu cards, which is a great option if you want to choose from a variety of cuisine.

All in all a value for money!

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, I booked four nights at the Ginger Hotel in May and was not disappointed. The hotel provides excellent value for the money. I paid more than double for the same setup at another hotel when I returned to Delhi in June. The Ginger has all the atmosphere of a businessman's hotel, but the rooms are clean and neat and staff is responsive to requests for assistance. Service is snappy and professional. While all this doesn't sound that exciting, trust me when I say that you'll be really thankful for such efficient service when you arrive at 4AM after being given the runaround by your taxi driver. The hotel is sort of hard to find. It's on the back side and across the tracks from New Delhi Station. Adjacent to the hotel is some sort of operations which involves lots of bales and carts and looks like recycling activity but is probably rail related freight operations. It's not pretty to look at, but the constant activity makes the area relatively safe, and once inside the hotel, all is nice and calm. You get courtesy bottles of water every day. There's internet access, albeit with a slow connection and expensive at 113 rupees an hour. And the restaurant isn't too bad. There's a metro very near by. If Delhi weren't so beastly hot, the hotel is within walking distance of Connaught Place and Old Delhi. The place always seems to be booked, so book early.

We were scheduled to travel to Agra and planned to stop by at Delhi for a couple of business meetings. My brother was trying for hotel accomodation through the internet. He had a fancy for Ginger hotels and kept trying for a room from 1 month before our visit. He did not get one initially. But on repeated attempts, there appears to have been a cancellation and he was able to book a room.

The hotel is just a stone's throw from the railway station. We flew down and took a taxi to the Station. We just walked over the platform into the hotel. We got an unbelievable price and when we walked into the hotel, the warm reception at the desk and the manners of the staff in the reception reminded us that this was a Tata hotel. Absolutely friendly, courteous and professional!

When we went into the room, we saw a beautiful room with a spacious bathroom. It was an unbelievable facility for the price at this location. A tea kettle with coffee and tea packs was provided in the room.

In case you get hungry, there is a restaurant in the groundfloor that offered food and beverage round the clock and we had arrived late at night without food and helped ourselves to a good tasty dinner there.

A nice hotel at a very convenient place. But if you are planning to stay there, please make sure that you book a room well in advance.

The staff were very attentive and the restaurant was adequate. Hey, it is a budget hotel.

We enjoyed staying at the Ginger, New Delhi. The rooms are compact, very clean and every small detail is taken care of (including complimentary bottles of water every day, wifi in each room, internet cafe etc) and the facilities are managed well.

Food is available at the 24-hr coffee shop at the ground level. The service here is very slow though the food is nice.

Pre-paid auto-rickshaws are available at the New Delhi railway station which is a 3 minute walk away and the metro station is 3 minutes away as well. The only issue is that auto will drop you off a 3-5min walk away on the return since the metro work has made the entire road difficult to enter.

We took a family room for just INR 1000. The room had 2 window AC's, 4 single beds. The entire room was very neat and tidy. Toilets were clean. Everything worked to perfection. Any other property in New Delhi offering what this hotel offers would easily cough up 2000-3000 bucks from your pocket.
Seamless check-in and check-out procedure. Nice room service. 4 bottles of mineral water and tea and coffee kits provided on a daily basis. A nice 17 inch LCD TV to take care of your entertainment needs. The quality of the beds, mattresses is very nice.

The resteraunt is open 24hours with good food although the staff are very rude and un anattentive. Location is great for those wanting to use New Delhi train station as it is only 2 mins away by foot. Downside is that there are no shops around the hotel and you need to get a three wheeeler in order to get to them (Connaught Place 5mins) which are available just outside the hotel. There is a pharmacy located on the hotel premises which is great. All in all if you are only needing accomodation and do not require the hotel luxuries as we were sight seeing and arriving after 9pm this is a highly recommended hotel. The hotel is quite hard to find due to construction of the metro and even taxi drivers do not know where it is . It is located next to ajmeri gate on the one way system.

Ginger was just what we needed for the final 3 nights of our 3 1/2 week stay in India.
It was basically an Indian travelodge, so don't bother staying if you want an authentic heritage experience, but the room was immaculate (by western standards rather than Indian) and complete with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, TV, comfy bed, AC, etc.

The location just outside New Delhi station was perfect for arriving/departing via the station, within walking distance of Paharganj and Connaught place, and a short metro ride to Old Delhi's main attractions (Red Fort, mosque, etc.)

The 24 hour restaurant came in handy for our day trip to Agra and early morning flight back to London - staff at reception were also happy to ring for a metered cab to the airport when the travel desk in the foyer tried to charge us 1200Rs to get to the airport!

At 990Rs a night, this was slightly expensive than other hotels we stayed in in India but worth every penny.

A Compact small room with wooden flooring, clean bathroom, with a telephone, air-conditioner and a cupboard with hangers was all for Rs 999. A standard room means a Queen side double bed, whereas a twin bed room are two separate beds. There is also a category with four beds at the same price if there are more people! The rooms are small, and one could compare this with Ibis in Europe, only that dust in India makes it harder to keep the property as clean. But no complaints.

There is a restaurant at the ground floor (Comesum) which serves decent food options. The location is excellent, next to the Railway station and to Connaught place, N Delhi. When we stayed, there was lots of metro rail construction happening around the hotel which made access slightly round-about. However, we could walk to the railway station early morning strolling our bags on our own (there are baggage strolleys available in the hotel restricted till the main entrance of the hotel) in about 7 minutes.

The laundry service was reasonable and prompt - deposit in the morning and receipt by evening 8 pm.

We booked online and check was easy too. There is a helpful reception desk. The hotel is quite busy due to the price and location, and one needs to bear with that.
Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay.

Our stay at the Ginger Hotel was great. Forget expensive bed and breakfast hotels, the Ginger Hotel is a no frills, and a great hotel. Our family of 4 stayed in 2 rooms as the family room (1000INR) was totally booked. We stayed in a double and 2 singles rooms (1000INR each) for 3 days. We arrived at the hotel which is located next to the NDLS railway station. It was chaotic outside. We approached the hotel gates, security didn't let the car through (security check), we got off, and headed towards the lobby. Check in was a bit of pain as Indians don't understand getting in line to get attention. We were soon given our room keys and went upstairs. We but our bags in the trolly. THe rooms were clean, and had the basic necessities. 4 water bottles inside the room. Heater and AC were part of the room w/ remote control. TV was LCD. Internet was expensive but we didn't care as we were at the hotel to only catch night sleep. THe floor consisted of an iron table in the hallway. THe hotel at the lobby is superb. Order watever you want as they are open 24 hrs, indian/chineses/western and is clean. We ate dinner here every night as we were sure not to get sick. THe hotel also has a gym and meeting room. Newspaper free at lobby. No outside noise was noticibly. Pick this hotel if you want a inexpensive 3.5 star service. It's centrally located to all monuments, and shopping areas are a taxi drive away. Since it's located near the train statin catching a taxi/or a 3 wheeler was a breeze. Walk outside the gate and towards the train station, there you will find an office for the 3 wheelers. Tell them where you want to go and you will prepay your trip. No negotiating. For taxi, the black taxis are outside too but here you have to talk to the drivers. We took a taxi to the airport for 400INR but all intercity trip to visitor monuments/shopping were done in tuktuk (3 wheelers). Would I stay here? In a heartbeat. Save the money and use that on shopping. You are on vacation and will use the bed for only night 8 hrs of sleep anyway. I spent 3500INR for a bed and breakfast hotel on the last stay which was pathetic (house of lords), spend the money at Ginger. Make sure you prebook online if you want the Family room (4 ppl for 1000INR) as it's in HOT demand. We couldn't get the deal so we took the regular rooms for 2 at 1000INR each which is still great. Staff is super friendly, will go out of the way to help. They've even got a ground transportation group at the lobby but I thought they were expensive. A medical store exists in the lobby as well. Request a room in the higher floors for a greater view. See pics of the location. This is a gem in the city no doubt. Coming into a foreign country from the US is a headache but staying at Ginger will calm the situation a LOT.

This is a new Budget range Hotels from Tata Group operated with the brand name Ginger and Tata Group also owns the Taj 5* Hotels in India & Abroad.

An existing 7 Floors Rail Yatri Niwas which was managed by Indian Railways has been handed over to Ginger Hotels to run the Buget Hotels and it has been refurbished completely and opened in August 2008. With the Hotel Pricing at 1000-1200 for AC Room with LCD TV, Mini Regrigerator with small but neat and clean rooms you cant ask anything more. The biggest surprise was even a 4 Bedded Family Room also was priced at Rs. 1000 with Two AC's. They have WIFI Zone, Mini Gym, 24hrs Restaurant, Vending Machine and also a 24hr Pharmacy Center within the complex. I had seen around 15-20 International Tourists staying at this place. The Rooms are with Dark Shades
with basic interiors and Hot & Cold Water. No Room Service is provided and they manage with few staff and thats where they are able to cut down the costs. However compared to other Ginger Hotels this one is priced at much lower rate I guess it could be because of the agreement with Indian Railways because they have provided the Land & Building.

My stay in Ginger Delhi was very nice, The booking process thru the call center was very smooth and fast . The front office staffs were very cordial. The room was very cozy though not great but real value for money. The location of the Hotel is fantastic . just in the New Delhi Railway station complex and Airport just 20 minutes by metro.
Food was ok.

Overall my stay was comfortable and I checked out satisfied.

Booking a room was absolutely hassle-free. Just a click on the mouse & done. The thing I didn't like was they charged me for some 100 bucks as service charges at the time of checking in.Anyways that was mentioned in that booking confirmation mail and I had missed out. Check-in/out time is 12 noon, and they will charge you extra(half day tariff) for early arrival/late check out.

Location cannot be more convenient anywhere else in the city. The New Delhi Railway Station, New Delhi Metro station & Airport Express Metro are all within 2 minutes' reach, which will surely make your life comfortable in travelling in the city. A stationery shop with medicines is in the hotel premises. An Axis bank ATM is also there right next to the entrance.

Pricing of the rooms is the best thing about the hotel. 1100 for a double room in such a location and that too with the Ginger brand is just amazing.

Service is okay and I didn't face any problems with the staff anytime. A restaurant is also there, though I didn't like the variety of food available.

All in all, I will 100% recommend this budget hotel for all since the package it offers at that particular price is unmatchable. Book your rooms well in advance since the only trouble is to find a room available in this hotel.

Thank You,
Deepak

Clean rooms, good service, 24 hour eatery!
The restaurant offers good variety of food. It is yummy too,

The Ginger Hotel called the Rail Yatri Niwas is located in the Ajmeri Gate side of the New Delhi Railway station. This property was earlier under the control of the Indian railways and Ginger is now running this property. The access to the hotel is not great. It is littered and one has to reach the hotel through trucks heading to the station. But they have given a separate enclosure for access once we enter the station premises. The Delhi metro is just 50 m and there is a lift just 10 m that takes one to the metro below. The reception is crowded with all kinds of people waiting. The check-in is 1300 h and check-out 1100 h. Charges are levied in case of early check-in before 1300 h and that is half-day charges. The room was a standard room in the seventh floor with a view but towards the platform side. The room had a coffee maker with adequate supply of coffee and tea bags and complimentary mineral water. The toilet was neat and clean. The functioning of the AC was good and controls were good. The room service was slow. The movement of people was very high. The noise from the New Delhi railway with engines hooting at night was a disturbance. Food was not complimentary like in other Ginger hotels. There is an attached restaurant “comesum” in the ground floor. I found both the non-vegetarian and vegetarian foods kept together. All kinds of Indian foods were found that included thalis. But the quality was not up to the mark. The restaurant served rice till 2300 h. Afterwards, it was the other snacks. WiFi was not functional and of poor signal. The premises had an ATM machine and the Delhi tourism counter. Travel desk was outsourced and the pricing very high. As there is a great demand because of its low pricing booking through the call centre is advisable as the web site always says not available. And do not leave your magnetic room opening card with the reception and instruct them clearly not to clean the room in your absence. The hotel accepts all credit cards.

We already had a stay at Ginger Hotel, Nashik & know the difference between other hotels & these hotels. Here you have to help yourself. Restaurants serves good food. Staff is co-operative. It is located near railway station. It’s location has adv & dis-adv also. Since near to station, it is easy to commute, but same time noise from station can disturb your sleep.
Bathroom was leaking, but staff fixed it in no time.

The rooms are very basic but well equipped with LCD TV and tea/coffee maker with an iron and iron board on each floor. The hotel also has the option of day stay for transit passengers. The hotel with self checkin and self service will also save your money as you do not have to tip anyone. The comsome restaurant is pathetic

The main advantage of the hotel is its proximity to the New Delhi Railway Station and New Delhi metro station/Airport express station. Its hardly 100 m away from the station if you exit on the Ajmeri Gate side.
The rooms were clean but the locks were a bit jammed. Also the AC noise was a bit high but bearable but the bed was comfortable. I stayed for one night and for the amount you pay, you get a decent room with very good service.

I travel to Delhi frequently and stay at the Ginger New Delhi very often. It is most convenient when it comes to the location - bang opposite the New Delhi Railway Station & the New Delhi Metro Station and now with the City Check-In for flights having started, it is the best option to commute to the airport as well. Clean and nicely maintained rooms, good staff, decent restaurant open 24x7 makes Ginger a nice choice to stay. However the only problem with the place is that its difficult to get an extended check-out or early check-in as the hotel sees almost 100% occupancy all the time and they are very strict in charging extra for these things. And yes - the noise from the railway station sometimes gets annoying - especially in the night.

Took the airport express when I arrived in New Delhi and the hotel was conveniently located around 200 meters from the New Delhi Railway Station. I planned on doing day trips to Agra and Jaipur and both trains leave early morning (615 and 605 am) and arrive late at night (between 1030-11pm) so the location of the hotel was perfect! No need to take a tuktuk or taxi going to/from the hotel. The room was OK, considering that it's a budget hotel. The area outside the hotel might intimidate or scare some people, but nothing unfortunate happened when I was there. I highly recommend this hotel if you're planning on doing day trips via train to other cities near New Delhi.

area around the hotel is rather dodgy, but location close to metro and many sights makes up for that. especially if you plan on continuing your travel by train, ginger is a good choice!

Stayed at the Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas for two nights! It is very conveniently located, right next to the Ajmeri Gate terminal of the New Delhi Railway Station. The hotel is clean and modest--- not as nice as some of the other Ginger properties I have been too, but no one can beat the tariff and the other wonderful things about this hotel. The rooms were a bit small and cramped, but clean and functional. The Ginger is immensely suited for someone who is on a budget and has to trains or flights to catch and is looking for a place that is centrally located. The Metro station literally next door connects you to the rest of Delhi. A 24 hour Apollo pharmacy is also at the Ginger!

What I really loved about the hotel was its proximity to the swanky Airport Metro Express which is walking distance from the Ginger! Can't beat the convenience! We had an international flight to catch and were at the T3 in less than 30 minutes!

Ginger needs to have better signages. We saw the hotel from afar but wasted a lot of time ( and money) looking for the path that would take us there. The path, which was within the station compound was badly littered---- surely the Ginger can think of better access to this hotel? I also found the "Comesum" restaurant staff very boorish and unfriendly. Not nice at all.

I would recommend the Ginger to a first time visitor to Delhi who is looking for a clean and convenient place to stay.

We had an early train to catch so we chose this hotel only because it was the nearest hotel in the New Delhi Railway Station area. For the price we paid, INR1,100, we were not expecting too much. SO we were surprised that the room was spacious, clean, with basic amenities for tea/coffee, mini ref and even a flat screen TV! We should have stayed here during our entire stay in Delhi and we could have saved half of what we paid in our other hotel!

The only grudge I have with this hotel is the exorbitant fee for internet use (WiFi in the room) - INR100+/hour!

I chose the Ginger because of its location very near ND railway station and Metro as I had booked early trains to Agra and late trains to Jaipur and from Agra (for foreigners with cc from outside India, you can book all Indian trains and flights through www.cleartrip.com, since the railway booking site does not accept cc issued outside India). I was not disappointed at all. I had pre-booked a month before on the hotel web-site (not very good, you have to try several times) and paid 1100 INR (about 25 $) per night). I stayed 3 nights and could easily and cheaply go anywhere by Metro (use the lift just outside the hotel for access to the Metro, better than going to the Metro entrance near the railway station). I also didn't need taxis or autos to get to the station with my luggage (as everybody knows Indian drivers ALWAYS surcharge foreigners, especially in the wee hours and when they see they have luggage). My room in the hotel was spacious, clean, with AC and hot water in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. They don't provide a free breakfast, but there's a 24 hr railway restaurant on the premises with a good selection of inexpensive snacks and drinks, which is good since the surrounding area lacks any restaurant and is rather dingy with all those porters, carts and barking dogs. The area is nt dangerous though, and with the Metro you can go anywhere before midnight. The prepaid taxi from the airport took 350 INR, but was fined 100, which I paid him willingly, as there was no way he could drop me at the hotel without going against the traffic in a one-way road (remember this is India!). Once the Metro reaches the airport, I think it will be much better to take it rather than a taxi, as it is cheaper, quicker, and drops you on the door step. What I didn't like is that they don't provide smoking rooms, but you'll like that if you don't smoke. I could leave my luggage at the hotel after check-out the last day as I had a late train. Overall, I would say that this is the cheapest hotel I stayed in the whole of India, and though it's not the best, it's comfortable enough in Delhi, where even 5-star expensive hotels have bad reviews.

The Ginger Hotel is a brilliantly-located hotel right in the heart of Delhi - walking distance from Connaught Place, close to Karol Bagh, and a stone's throw from both the New Delhi railway station, and the metro station. For those coming to Delhi on business and looking for inexpensive, clean accommodation, this is the place. But don't expect peace and tranquility in this buzzing neighbourhood!
The rooms are small but have all the mod cons i.e. air conditioning, plasma TVs, and clean bathrooms. Wifi is available but is not free. There is no room service but the cafeteria is within the hotel and serves a good buffet. Another bonus is the availability of a pharmacy and ATM within the hotel premises itself.
Since the hotel is such good value-for-money, it is advisable to book well in advance; walk-in guests have almost no chance of getting a room.

I stayed in Ginger Delhi (they have 2 differnet hotels in Delhi), the one next to New Delhi Railway Station, it's really convenient as close to the railway station and metro. Only a 24 hrs cafe and convenient store on the ground floor of the hotel.. for more choice, you can walk to Main Bazaar Road in 10 mins acrossing the train station where many restaurants and shops located.

This is a modern hotel with what you want, fridge, air-con, LCD TV, clean bathroom. It would be perfect if they have wifi access.

Service - needed to be improved.. the reception looks angry and not very efficient, had to wait for long time for both check-in and out.

In all, I do recommend this hotel if Delhi is just a transit stop for your trip, it is a standard hotel with excellent location to metro and train.. But if you plan to stay longer, for more food and shops or if you look for a more interesting hotel and nice staff.. believe there should have other choices.

I have often stayed at this hotel while in New Delhi. The concept is very affordable and ideally suitable for the budget traveller. The rooms are pretty basic but offer all the essential amenities. They even have family rooms with four beds which is convenient. All this for a price of Rs. 1300/-.

The restaurant food is not very good but there are excellent eating joints near Connaught Place which is a short drive away. The single most deciding factor is the close proximity to New Delhi railway station and the Delhi Metro.

Ginger IRCTC is located right in the centre of Delhi within walking distance of New Delhi Railway Station and Connaught Place. It is now even seamlessly connected with the Airport Terminal 3 by the Airport Express Metro Line. At Rs. 1100/Room/Night for a Standard Double Room you cannot ask for more. The rooms are completely equipped with all basic amenities including a functional A/C, endless mineral water, clean sheets and wash room and the safety of a decent family hotel. Comesum Restaurant which operates within the Hotel premises for 24 hours a day serves clean food [limited variety] which adequately meets your culinary requirements. Rooms are also equipped with LCD TV with a no. of channels to cater to everyone's needs in a family.

This is a no-frills hotel at a very convenient location. Walking distance from Ajmeri Gate of New Delhi Railway station. Also the Delhi Metro and Airport Express terminals are within stone's throw distance. I was travelling with my family on vacation and checked in as we had an early morning train to catch. The check in was very smooth (less than 10 min). The room was clean and functional (AC, LCD TV, mini fridge, intercom...). Quite sufficient for a short stay. No room service, but you can go to the Rail Yatri Niwas restaurant downstairs for your meals. Hotel also keeps luggage trolley at the gate so that we do not have to lug heavy bags to our room.
One caution though - if you need porters to carry your luggage to the station, then be prepared to negotiate heavily. You will most likely need them if you have heavy luggage as New Delhi RS has overbridges to cross.

The location good at it is right outside the New Delhi Rly stn and it's also bad as the approach road is really terrible. You need to go through all the transport vehicles and then the workers & stuff. Once you are inside the hotel , it is really really good.

Typical ginger , no frills room is good little small , but again as I said it is good to catch up a sleep in night. If you are looking for a holiday and relax at hotel then this is not the place. They also have the IRCTC's comesum restaurant which is good option for breakfast and food.

I didn't have any complaints and it is worth the money spent.

Just outside New Delhi Railway Station on the Ajmeri Gate side, the Ginger Hotel runs from the same property that used to be the Railway Yatri Niwas. The hotel is a real value for money considering its convenient location. The rooms are definitely worth more than what they charged. Being a self-service hotel, there is no room-service but the rooms are cleaned daily and are equipped with a tea-making kit and a small fridge which is stocked with bottled water. There is also a decent restaurant within the compound but the prices are a bit on the higher side and its all veg food.
The only problem with this hotel (and all other Ginger properties) is their check-in at 1.00 pm and check-out at 11.00 am rule and their total inflexibility in adjusting even for an hour.

Ginger IRCTC hotel is an oasis of cleanliness, professionalism and no-nonsense hotel experience. Located near the New Delhi railway station, Ginger provides best value for money.

I booked a room in this hotel for 2-night stay and everything worked like a clockwork. Check-in was a breeze, very nice functional room with pleasing furnishings, clean toilet where hot water is available 24 hours!! - A rarity in budget hotels in Delhi- comfy bed and coffee/tea maker with sufficient supplies. Bottled water is complementary. Availability of an ATM and a Pharmacist within the hotel premises is an advantage. The hotel also has a decent restaurant that serves good food. The hotel is right above New Delhi metro station and opposite to Metro Airport line, so commuting to other places is Delhi is easy.

My stay at this hotel was comfortable and I enjoyed the stay. Due to its proximity to railway station and very affordable price, finding a room would be difficult if one does not book in advance. Walk-in customers normally don't get rooms here. The hotel check-in and check-out policy is strictly enforced as they as always full. If one is lucky, an early check-in may be possible but not always guaranteed. Overall a satisfying experience!

At Rs. 1100, nothing beats this place for "value for money"...

Even though the rooms are not so big(actually slightly small), they are clean.

The location can be termed both "excellent" and "poor".

Excellent because it is right next to the "New Delhi Railway Station", Ajmeri Gate, which makes it convenient to reach any place in delhi (through Metro).

Poor because of the same reason : It can get noisy and one can hear trains honking late in the night or early in the morning. But, if you are a sound sleeper, this should not be too much of a problem.

The room has an AC, comfortable beds, basic bathroom with toiletries...

The best part was that there are day use 'check-in' timings where one can check-in at 9 and checkout at 5, unlike the regular hotels which have check-in at around 12/1 in the afternoon and check-out at 11. We took advantage of this facility, when our train arrived at Delhi in the morning and our flight was at 8:50 in the night.

The food department is by "comesum" and is not much to talk about though.

But, overall, excellent value for money...

Based on my brother's advice, I booked the hotel for 2 nights online a month in advance and found it very convenient due to its proximity to NDLS station, metro station, IGI airport metro. Due to the self service nature of the hotel ( luggage carry service, no room service , self service restaurant) , it has a new feel altogether - feel similar hotels in US/ Europe. The rooms including bed, toilet are kept very tidy.

Cons:
1. After I checked-out on second day my flight back to Bangalore was in evening. But the hotel staff did not agree to keep my luggage for some hours. The railway clock room near does not allow luggage if you do not have a train ticket. finally, after prodding for second time the hotel staff agreed to keep the luggage.

2.In the self-service comesum restaurant within the hotel, the quality of food is low and price is high. They take order and deliver after a very long time. But you have little options near to the hotel

3. The towels were not clean and we got the unclean towels even after request.

Stayed here with my husband on two occasions - the first for a few nights in a super clean double room and the second for one night in a not so clean dorm room (last room left, so we took it!). We like this place mainly because of the price and the fact it's so close to the train station. Worked well for us with our rail travel around India. It's also close to a metro station, which allowed us to visit many of Delhi's sights. The downside of the location is there are no restaurants you can walk to for a quick snack - however, there is a 24hr restaurant downstairs. Reception staff were always busy and checking in took us quite a while. The double room we initially stayed in was clean and comfortable with a flat screen TV. Water was sometimes hot and sometimes not, depending on when we showered. We wanted to purchase the wifi internet on offer on several occasions, but only managed to get it once...reception kept saying it was unavailable. Bring earplugs as it can get noisy being next to the train station!

1. If you don't want to stay in Paharganji but need to stay close by New delhi station,
Ginger hotel is the best choice. Only 5 mins by walk.

2. Value for money. Very cheep and no frills but clean and basic.

3. If you travel with children, if your travelling members are more than 3, just use a family room. There are four beds and the rooms is very wider than others. Only 100 rupees more expensive than twin(double) room.

4. There is a canteen for 24 hours. You can have a simple meal.

<Bad>
1. They don't keep your luggages.
There is no clock room(left luggage) but you can find a porter easily around the hotel gate. They will walk you to the staion with your heavy luggages in 10mins.

2. You can't check in early. exactly 1:00pm.

The location was across the New Delhi Railway station but at a different side to the Main Bazaar of Paharhanj; so if you are looking for the convenience of shopping at doorstep, there's no shops around Ginger.

The first night we had a double room. It had tired looking paint and mediocre cleanliness. The second night, we had a twin, which wad much more pleasant in terms of cleanliness and feel. In general, the beds were good and we had good rest. For light-sleepers. The proximity to the railway means constant noise from the non-double glazed windows. Hot shower is constant. There's no free WIFi.

As for service, it was inconsistent, varying from staff to staff. On the morning of the second day, we explained our booking situation and asked if we can keep the double room. The hotel was unable to change the room type, however, the staff helpfully suggested that we pack our bags and they will bring the bags over to the new room once ready. That arrangement saved us precious time since we did not have to return at 12pm. The transition was smooth and we got our new keys from the front desk in the evening.

On the next day morning, we asked to checkout and leave our baggage with the hotel as we were taking the late night train to Jodhpur. The female staff on duty informed us that it's not possible to leave the bags till 8pm as the room would be locked at 4pm. When we rushed back at 4pm, we found out that the room would not be locked at all! The same female staff still insisted that it'll be locked when we asked if we can collect after dinner. We sat at the lobby planning what to do and until 5pm the door wasn't locked... We talked to another staff on night duty and he agreed to hold our bags. We offered him a tip (twice) for the service which he repeatedly refused. We still don't understand why the hotel had refused to store the luggages for a few more hours, especially when the room was only at half capacity.

Nevertheless, at Rs1000 it is good value in Delhi.

Note: to bypass the cargo loading activities, exit New Delhi metro going towards Gate 3. Just before a bank's ATM, take the lift on your right up.

We booked a family room (4 people) for a really good price of 1100 rupees. The hotel is hard to find even though its so close to the railway station and the metro. We had rickshaw drivers unable to get us there. We arrived at 3 am, and had to wait half an hour while they made up the room. The entrance was a shock- full of potholes and packers sleeping. But we eventually found it fascinating, and loved watching the comings and goings.
The family room was great. Small but nicely laid out, with AC, small fridge with bottled water, nice shower and towels. Breakfast is not included, and the breakfast in the restaurant is not much to talk about. But we liked eating lunch and dinner in the restaurant. The clientele is a nice mix of Indians and foreigners. We arranged for internet access, which took a day but finally got taken care of. We used the laundry service, which is very expensive. They bagged each pair of socks!
We tried to book a room for our last day, but they were full. Worth booking a couple months ahead.

It is one of the most economical hotels in Delhi. Maintained very well, rooms are very clean.
The location makes it very easy to travel around, if you need to catch trains to other cities. We travelled to Agra, Haridwar and Jaipur staying at Delhi, it was very convenient as we could just walk across to the railway station in 5mins.
There is a Restaurant attached, can expect okay kind of food.
We had trouble locating the entrace of the hotel when we came from airport, the taxi drive just left us somewhere close, we had to drag our luggage finding the way to the hotel. It will be good if the road leading to the hotel is tarred.
Sleep quality was a little poor owing the fact that it is just next to the railway station (its an advantage as well as disadvantage!) and there was noise all throughout the night.

Ginger, New Delhi is perhaps the closest to New Delhi Railway station. It is newly built on the Indian Railway Yatri Niwas. It is one of the best no frill /no room service low cost hotel we ever stayed. We picked this hotel as we had a stopover for 6 hrs in Delhi on our way to Kalka. We had a booking at Shatabdi fro New Delhi station.

We were very happy with the quality of the room. There is no room service, but this is absolutely acceptable in the value for money. 2 bottles of mineral water and 2 cups of tea coffee ingredients are provided. Rooms have window AC fitted with wall mounted LCD TV. Running hot and cold water. I would love to go back again to Ginger, New Delhi.

A cozy tiny place to spend the day. The amenities inside the room were superb. Also the food was nice. The buffet was good to have. I would recommend staying here.

I was at this hotel around oct'2010 for about 3days, Traveling between Agra, Jaipur and Shimla. This hotel served as central place for moving all around delhi.
Very Good place if you are planning to travel by trains around New delhi. Hotel is just outside new delhi railway station, I had tough time finding an entrance to the building, but once inside this place looks great. Metro station is right opposite the hotel. Pricing is good. Food is a bit expensive. One point to note in this hotel is you will be charged half day price if u want to check in before 11am. Please plan accordingly.

A pleasant surprise i must admit when I stayed with my partner at Ginger Hotel. Might be next to the railway station and look a bit run down, but the hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Rooms are cleaned everyday. There is no room service but a 24 hr restaurant provides for your munches. Its 10mins away from connaught place where you can get a excellent variety of food and beverages. I am going back to stay in Ginger again this december. For the money you pay the stay is beyond your expectations. Book early as its quite hard to get a room!

The proximity to the Railway Station proves to be a great benefit.
I checked in during the Common wealth Games frenzy so the hotel was completely booked, even then check- in procedures were rather systematic. I entered the room and was greeted with a vibrant orange colour that livened me up. The room is a tad tiny although extremely neat, well lit and clean shower cubicle and flat screen t.v.
A self-service restaurant managed by COMSUM provides quick decent meals 24 hours.
I loved the idea of self serice every where which saved a lot of time and money.
Trolleys to transport luggage added to my convenience.
In all a great experience, especially keeping convenience and excellent location in mind.

Bang on next to the NEW DELHI railway station you have metro nearby, train nearby, etc... Clean and impressively cheap! you have a little cafeteria at the basement and the rooms are new and kept spotless. Really nice and pleasant after staying in some dodgy places around India, as you do! Taxi or tuk tuk drivers might not know where it is but they'll definitely know New Delhi station so you can get there and from the main entrance you can see the hotel, big tall building!

The hotel is having good locational advantage. Rooms were good with average room service. The best thing about the hotel is their reasonable tarriffs.

Thus, it is good economical hotel, however it is not advisable to those who expects for Luxurious Experience.

I stayed at a family room of this hotel when my family had to halt in delhi to catch a next day flight to kolkata.

I must admit that you can't get a better room than this for the price you pay for a family room in this hotel which is just 1000 bucks!! At this price, you get a neat and clean Air Conditioned room with an LCD TV,4 beds and an attached bathroom (shower room and loo separate) .

The hotel is a strictly self service one, but, then that is quite obvious from the price tag that comes along with it. The rooms are very neat and clean and you won't find yourself complaining about it. The shower room and the loo are small in size but, i didn't expect a bigger bathroom than this for a budget hotel. In order to maintain the cleanliness of the room, you are not allowed to order food inside the room.

I have seen people complaining about the noises due to the trains in the station nearby at night, but, seriously i didn't have difficulty sleeping due to the noise. There is a gym in the hotel too , though i didn't use it.I had a peek into it from outside and it seemed to be decently equipped.

There is a restaurant at the groundfloor- Comesome. This is the same restaurant that you will find outside Nizamuddin or old delhi railway station. The quality of food is very good but, the choice of food is very limited.

The major discomfort that i had to face was the temperature of water in the summer season. The water tanks of the hotel are directly exposed to sun i guess and as such, in summer season, expect the shower water to be a bit hot if you take a bath in the afternoon. I came around this problem by taking bath early morning the next day.

Overall, it was a nice and comfortable stay and i would recommend this hotel to all the budget travellers. But, a word of caution. Book early or else this hotel gets full very early.

Ginger Delhi is a great hotel to choose if you are on a budget trip to Delhi. Barring a few cons, the hotel is a good choice.

PRO:
1. Clean Rooms at economical rates (we got it at Rs 999!!!)
2. In room facilities like coffee maker
3. Location - Next to NDLS and New Delhi Metro stop (next to Ajmeri Gate)
4. Have facilities like gym, medical store, meeting rooms, laundry in campus

CON:
1. The restaurant is veg only and very expensive - the food quality is poor. Plus you will not find any decent restaurant in walking distance. Two options: Moti Mahal (Daryaganj - 30 Rs by Rickshaw), Ajay German Bakery (10 mins walking in Paharganj Market Lane)
2. Does not have a luggage room (so we had to pay extra rate to book for a half day - which by the way is only 6 hrs!)
3. The staff is not very customer friendly.

Like the name refers it is a ginger of a place, the cleanliness and the room aesthetics are great and for the price that they are offering it is great, a reservation is a must and web reservation is the best, like they say where do they need to improve, well the food court really needs to improve, the variety is great but the quality - and the taste are average, the only other eye sore is the entry point, , however with the metro the gate opens right on its doors, so that problem is slightly solved, however since it is quite close to the station you have ease access to transport all through the day and night , will give it a 7 out of ten for value for money and for its cleanliness , yes the staff also need to be trained, but they are not bad..
have a great stay and yes will surely stay there again

We booked this hotel en route to Jaipur from Chennai. It is next to New Delhi Railway Station in an area which is one of the dirtiest in India and it is not surprising as well as it is next to Railway Station.

But once you are into the Hotel, it cant get anything better..You dont get such nice rooms in any of the 3 star hotels for the cost they offer. INR 1000 for both 2 bed accommodation as well a family room with 4 beds.

Rooms are very neat and tidy, with 16 Inch LCD TVs, Phone, nice beds, neat toilet/ bath area. There is no room service nor the package includes Breakfast. Breakfast is available downstairs and its reasonably priced with good varieties and its not bad as far as the taste is concerned.

So if you are in New Delhi and you have work around the main city or if you using Delhi as hub for traveling up north, I would recommend a stay in Ginger..Its real value for money and you get this nowhere in India.

Overall the cleanliness is good and the basic facilities are upto the mark, but they are very stingy with new towels. The location is good as it is just beside the NDLS and Metro station. Most of the staff are well behaved and professional, contrastingly the guests are rude when they want to extract too much out of the money they have paid. The restaurant is good in terms of taste but it has turned vegetarian from11th may which is a big dampner. Overall a safe and secure hotel for business travelers and people in transition.

The self help idea in India is pretty new but with places like Ginger cropping up all over the country, the trend is catching up. It is located conveniently near the New Delhi Railway Station and the Metro Station (Ajmeri Gate side) and in very close proximity to the city centre. The fact that all of New Delhi is dug up and in total disarray due to the constructions for the Commonwealth Games makes the place a little confusing to access but I suppose once it's complete and with the Metro being extended upto the Airport the location would be even more convenient. The rooms arent enormous but are sufficient and have in room refrigerator and electric kettle (for tea and coffee). All in all extremely affordable. Almost unthinkable in a place like New Delhi.

We stayed for almost a week at this hotel last year having been recommended it to us by one of my Indian colleagues. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean, and as other reviewers have stated, the staff were exceptionally professional and helpful. The air-conditioning unit in the room was a little noisy, but of course very welcome! The bathroom was basic, but importantly the shower was good and hot water always avilable.

The restaurant had very little in the way of Western food, but of course that's to be expected, and the food we did eat there was very good (especially the butter chicken).

We did have some difficulty finding the place, with the taxi driver quite insistently taking us to the other side of the station, but once we'd found it, we then used the metro station, just 3 minutes walk away. The pharmacy below was a great source of bottled water.

I would definitely stay again if in New Delhi.

We were travelling to Himachal and stayed at Delhi for 2 days for a short trip for travelling back to Mumbai in Oct'09.

This Tata group budget hotel offers rooms with all basic amenities like cable TV, a/c, double bed, coffee/tea maker and cabinets for luggage along with a broadband connection in a common area. Since we had to travel around Delhi and embark and disembark trains for our travel from Delhi, this hotel had the perfect location one can ask for. It is situated right beside NDLS railway station on one side and Metro station on the other side with minimal walking distance!!

However, if you want a luxury stay or spacious rooms this is not the hotel for you. Also its not a full service hotel and hence you will have to manage things with self service. It does have a good restaurant thats open till midnight and offers many varieties at reasonable rates.

Its a great place if you are on a business trip and looking for budget hotels.

positives -
value for money, central location, connectivity for outstation trains/metro, cleanliness, fast check-in and check-out

negatives-
small rooms, not ideal for long stay for holidays

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights prior to going to Varanasi and 1 night on my return. Very convenient for Indian Railways. Modern, clean, almost too inexpensive to be true when compared to the quality offered. I had read a bad review about the front desk on LP; they didn't embrace me or chanted "welcome home, son", but were helpful regarding iall my questions and even booked a doctor by phone for me, when I had a stomach indisposition.
Now to the cons, largely outweighed by the pros:
One in three taxi drivers knows this hotel. Mentioning the old name "Rail Yatri Niwas" increases the chances somehow. But if you teach them, you always arrive there.
The restaurant is good, but don't count on anything western. I know that "when in India...", but sometimes your stomach needs bland food. However, the restaurant manager is part of that almost extinct species of extremely classy and accommodating people. He did the impossible to please me, even sending one of his boys to buy food for me outside, 10 walking minutes away.
The hotel is near nowhere, other than the New Delhi Station. Don't count on an evening stroll nearby.
Internet is expensive and complicated if you have to use their internet cafe.

To conclude, if you want a clean, bright, safe and modern place to stay, you've found it. Just don't expect whistles and bells.

The hotel is right outside one of the parking lots of the New Delhi Railway station. In fact this particular hotel is a JV of sorts between Ginger and Indian Railways - it is called Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas. The proximity of the hotel to the station is very convenient for some body who is taking a connecting train after a night stay. It takes just a 5 min walk to reach the railway station from the hotel. The hotel is a very very attractive option in comparison to other choices in the Paharganj area near the station, in terms of cleanliness, basic amenities and rate - in fact on any count.
The hotel has a ground floor self service restaurant which provides decent food options for a short stay also.
Overall, this is the best option if you want to stay in proximity to the New Delhi station.

Anyways I managed to book my room on their website. Booking of the room is an issue. I wanted to go again to the hotel but could not manage to book the room as they all got filled up.

The location is a bit hard to find. If you are coming by an Auto or a Taxi tell them that you need to go near the NDLS Stations Metro Station. The Hotel is around a 5 min walk from the Metro Station.

The Rooms are just good enough to sleep. They are pretty clean and a great value for Money who basically wants a clean and comfortable place to sleep. Cons: There is no where to store baggage if you have a flight after the check-out time. They reluctantly let me keep my stuff in a side room but only if I stayed in the building but I wasn't allowed to wait in the restaurant and the internet wasn't working.
The bathroom had a dirty towel on the floor and there's no excuse because I arrived 11 hours after check-in time.
The gym was tiny with one treadmill and light weights under 8lbs.
PROS: the room was modern and new and the hotel is a few minutes walk from the rail station and next to the Metro.

Located so near to the railway station and rooms at dirt cheap price. Its perfect for a budget trip. Travelled alone but in case for a stopover on a shoestring budget, I would choose this hotel over many 3 stars in Delhi. Very near the metro station making it even better.
Check-in was smooth. The hotel is absolutely no frills with no room service. Water is provided free and even has a simple restaurant.
The rooms are only meant to sleep and not hang around as they are SMALL by all means, but again as I said I'd prefer these smartly spaced small rooms with a bed, tv, cupboard, desk and chair fit in because it is all of good quality and totally clean.
For how long can they sustain this at such crazy prices remains to be seen. Its like a self service hotel selling fast food like rooms.

I visited Delhi with my cousins and brother and stayed there for a night in Ginger Hotel. When booking the rooms, we were surprised by the cheap rates and hence expected something below average. Ginger Hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. The rooms, especially the toilets were clean. The towels and other reusables were clean and ready for us. The room definitely saved us from the extreme Delhi chill. Room service was very co-operative. Overall a very good experience. Would definitely recommend friends and family to go to this hotel in any of the cities they have branches.

I had a bit of trouble getting to this hotel but if you go to New Delhi Railway Station exit to the Ajmeri Gate it's pretty easy.

Rooms are smaller than the other Ginger Hotels I have been to, but are clean, have decent telly (with Star Movies - an English language movie channel) and a decent cheap restaurant on the ground floor.

As it's next to New Delhi Station it's really handy for anyone planning an Indian Rail trip, particularly as the International Travelers Rail booking office is in ND Station (this office is a must to be able to get sorted with rail tickets without the unnecessary grief that one experiences buying online or in the main station).

Book your hotel through www.gingerhotels.com for the best prices. I was so impressed by the "smart basics" of Ginger Hotels that I stayed in three of them across India. I would have stayed at more was it not for the fact that I was a little slow on the uptake finding them.

I had a requirement to stay overnight in New Delhi after a 14 hour train trip - and had booked through the IRCTC web site .

Liked the check in procedure , young and energetic staff , good quality bed in the room , general cleaniless & functional nature of accomodation.

So nice bed room ( small though ) , functional furnishing , good ambience , clean toilet and a cofee shop , almost open 24 hours - with hot and choice of food too!Be aware , no room service and the hotel dicourages taking food in the room , but then the restaurant in the basement is fairly ok .

I would say , in terms of value for money , one of the best in the city and I am going to stay there next time , instead of scambling toa relative's place !

Otherwise, basic/simple room, but very comfortable bed (esp. by Indian standards where mattresses are typically 1 inch thick...).

Was my first stay at Ginger... and instantly i became a fan because of the value for money these guys provide. Its a no frill kind of arrangement, but really good. The rooms are very clean and well maintained with all the basic amenities. The food served is good and the room service very prompt. Didn't face a single issue during my 2 day stay at the hotel. These guys have come up with a great idea and the implementation is superb.

The difficulty in booking a room here is well documented -- I tried for two months, and finally had success about a week before departing for Delhi. This was definitely a pain, but the rest of my experience with the Ginger was great. The rooms are clean, if compact, and are modern in design. Nice LCD tv, fridge in room, and bathroom wasn't scary at all. The restaurant serves tasty food at cheap prices, and is quite speedy.

The area surrounding the hotel is chaotic and dirty and always buzzing with activity (and noise), but the hotel is behind a secured gate so feels distinct from the craziness and safe. If you are a single female, or even a small group of females, I'd recommend having a taxi come right up to the hotel instead of walking out toward the train station to catch one.

Price couldn't be beat at about $20 per night, and I'd definitely stay here again.

The greatest plus point to it is that it is right next to the New Delhi railway station. the hotel has a 24 hr restaurant with good food. the rooms are very clean and so are the bathrooms. there are no fancy amenities but still good. its ideal for a group of students on holiday. dont go there if you expect something 5 star.

i stayed there twice, for a night on each occasion. making a reservation online was a breeze. if reservation is open, that is. i tried to book my third stay, but online reservation was not open, even when it was less than a week from the date i wanted. i tried every day. by the time it was open, i was too late. the rooms were all booked solid. that is how popular the hotel is, especially with the domestic tourists.

at 999 rupees a night (for the standard room), one cannot ask for a better value deal. the room and bathroom are extremely clean. the air-conditioner worked. hot water was available 24/7, which was my top concern on a wintry night. the television had many english language satellite channels. a stone's throw away from the metro and railway station, the location of the hotel cannot be better. however, the surrounding outside of the hotel was an eyesore and amenities were non-existent.

the reception staff were very professional, efficient and friendly. they were very particular about the 1 p.m. check-in time, though.

I have just returned fron a two day stay at Hotel Ginger New Delhi. Conveniently situated at New Delhi Railway Station, it is a Business Travellers delight. To start with, staff is coordial and helpful. If you have prior reservation and reach at the checkin time, formalities are hassle free. Even if you reach early, early checkin is possible with some extra payment.
Rooms are compact but delightful. You will get all aminities and comfort of a room thrice or four time the cost of these rooms in Ginger rooms. Bathrooms are clean and maintained. Security is taken care of rather well.
Restaurant within the hotel is of one of the best chains of restaurants, providing variation and quality at reasonable cost. Very clean and tidy.
You get all type of conveyance as you step out....Auto, Metro rail which is a stone's throw away, Buses and taxies.
Overall, I will highly recommend the hotel to all those who are looking for basic facilities and comforts at a cost which is not very heavy on pocket.

I stayed in the Ginger Hotel, New Delhi twice on business trips. The first time was in 2008, and then again in 2009. The greatest plus of this hotel is its location. If you have to take a train or reach N Delhi Station at odd hours, this is the most convenient place you can find, as you really do not have to move out of the station complex.

The service and decor inside the hotel is also efficient, modern and professional. The guys manning the front desk are efficient and courteous. Another big advantage is the 24 hours restaurant inside the building. The rooms are clean and well-kept. Bed and linen are very decent and comfortable. Supply of tea and coffee inside the room adds to the convenience.

Two things can be improved. 1. If internet access is allowed at a one-time payment at the front desk, it would make life easier for those needing internet for business purposes. 2. India being India, it is difficult to pull your luggage to the station. The guards at the gate can get you porters for this purpose. But these are unlicensed people, and charge you unreasonable amount. Having arrangement for calling licensed porters from the station will be very convenient.

On our last night in New Dehli we were lucky to be able to book Ginger for $20 for a family room with 4 separate beds. It was a clean efficient hotel with basic amenities. The room is a bit tight for our 4 pieces of large luggage but for that kind of price I can tolerate it. We stayed at the YWCA for 4 nights at $50 or so which is not as new and clean.
Hotel Ginger, I wish you are everywhere we go in India as we are traveling on budget! I would love to stay with you again!

I was staying with my friends in Delhi, and was expecting my sister to come for a day for shopping and meeting me. So, i was looking for a hotel and then due to its location being nearby new delhi station, i decided to give Rail yatri Niwas (Ginger) a try. Luckily the room was vacant and our booking was done immediately by more than helpful receptionist.

When we entered our room, i wasn't expecting much because of the room rent and the tag attached with the railways, but was fully taken aback right from the time i stood in front of my room door.
The room was clean to the core where you could have found your lost needles also in the floor. The color, ambience, beds and blankets, lighting and exceptional bathroom. The toilet was very clean with facility for liquid soap (which was filled) and smooth water flow and fragrance. The towels were kept for the use. Just on the way there was wardrobe for keeping clothes and getting dressed up after taking bath of getting fresh. The space was just adequate for the stay.

the only hitch and the problem we faced because of the timing of checking in and out was that we have to wait for two hours to get the room. and there was NO facility to keep your luggage so that you can move around outside for some time. As it is impossible to carry the luggage if you arrive early and not willing to wait there.

The multicuisine restaurant 'Comesum' is an added advantage for good and relatively cheap and quick food.

Overall for the budget , i think it offers more than what anyone can offer.

The quality for price cannot be beat in Delhi - for $40 you get clean rooms with satelite TV, AC, wireless (must pay but only $5 for 24 hours) and clean bathrooms - perfectly comfortable rooms. We stayed at a few other hotels for the same price range in Delhi and India and found them all to be MUCH worse. We also stayed at a few 5 star hotels which were (as expected) better but then again cost us $300 ... found Ginger to be the best bargain around.

Also - we traveled around quite a bit by train using delhi as a our main hub and for this the LOCATION CANNOT BE BEAT! you are literally across the street from the train station (VERY helpful since some tickets can only be bought 2 hourse before the train leaves - if the train leaves at 5am you'll be grateful you only have to cross the street to get your 3am tickets!). Its also pretty close to Connaught Place (central Delhi) - around 2 km or INR 50 by tuck tuck (1 dollar).

Good luck! mp

Our journey to the Ginger Hotel didn't start too well. We booked a vehicle at the airport taxi counter. Once out of the airport our driver claimed he didn't know where the Ginger Hotel was located. We gave him a map but this didn't seem to help him. Fortunately, he could take us to the 'tourist office' who could phone Ginger for directions. The very 'helpful' man from the tourist office 'phoned' Ginger Hotel and was advised that they'd over-booked, but we could stay at their sister hotel for free! When we didn't believe this they passed the phone to us where the 'manager' apologised profusely and explained how the sister hotel was so much better. We still weren't convinced and realised it was a scam, and after we demanded that the taxi driver take us to the Ginger Hotel manager, we were given a ride to New Delhi railway station where we made our way on foot to the hotel. Of course we were immediately able to book in! When we were at the so-called 'tourist office' we saw other taxis pull up outside. The moral is that if you book a taxi from the airport then don't believe anything the driver, or anyone whose help he enlists, tells you about your hotel.

The Ginger Hotel itself is quite bland but has clean rooms with comfortable beds and a TV for those who can't live without the box. They even have Wi-Fi (at a price) and there is a gym. Security is first class. There is a self-service cafeteria on site which provides exceptable food. The major downside was the booking process. We'd originally enquired about a room in August but it wasn't until 3 months later, 4 days before we were due to arrive, that the hotel was able to accept bookings. The only other problems were we were promised IT assistance when we experienced difficulties with the Wi-Fi connection, but this never arrived despite our phone calls, and there is no luggage storage facility at the hotel.

India I would recommend paying a little extra and stay at a Ginger hotel. The Delhi hotel is right behind new delhi train station so centrally located for seeing the city. The rooms are very clean, flat screen tv, air con, clean sheets, clean showers, nice staff and tea/coffee in room. Rooms have a tiny frindge which does not get very cold but otherwise well worth paying a few extra poung to stay at. I would recommend booking ahead on their web site if possible to get the best price.

This was a great place for a business trip. A spotlessly clean room, comfortable bed, bathroom and desk - plus wireless for an extra fee. I could also grab good, inexpensive food downstairs in the restaurant downstairs. Very key when I was pressed for time or needed to get something late at night and didn't feel safe heading out on my own after dark. This hotel has small rooms for 1 person which cost about half of a standard room, so perfect when traveling solo. Not great in terms of character but great if you just need a clean and safe place to sleep. If getting there by taxi, be sure to tell the driver it's by the Ajmeri Gate of the train station or they'll have a hard time finding it - and be sure to book at least a few weeks ahead of time. It books up, mostly by locals.

A great value Hotel similar to a UK Travel Lodge. We were a party of 4 -2 adults and 2 teenagers and for 1000INR a night this was a bargain. Rooms very clean with AC and a fridge and LCD TV. The restaurant is open 24hours with good food although the staff are very rude and un anattentive.

I was quite satisfied with my stay here. I stayed here my very first 2 nights in Delhi and on the trip. The hotel is basic but clean enough. Room has complimentary water (2 bottles a day), hot water pot, TV. Right now I can't even picture the bathroom but I was fine with the room and bathroom. There are 2 computers available in the lobby for Rs 110 for 1 hr. The staff was friendly and means to be helpful. One just has to give them time. I agree with the other reviews here in terms of the value for the money.
The location was great for going to Old Delhi and Connaught Circle. Also, because it is next to the railroad station, the pre-paid taxi driver from airport knew how to get to it. There is a large sign up high so once at the station you can see it. There is construction around the station and you actually need to go to the back of the station to reach the hotel.
A short walk from the hotels gets you to a pre-paid stand where you can hire auto-rickshaws.
There is a booking agent (of sorts) in the hotel so I used them to book a car to the airport for the next leg of my trip. I said I would take non-AC for Rs800 and I got a car with AC.
One negative was trying to book a room online. I did use direct email to the Delhi Ginger hotel but they don't book much in advance and they also get full quickly.
Hope this helps.

As we had seen Ginger in Haridwar and Goa and were impressed with the cleanliness chose this hotel.

Very Nice Hotel, Location was bit bad due to Metro work on in the near vicinity , The Railway station Parcel office etc making it very noisy and dusty. But once inside it was nice.

Rooms needed a little bit more care (by guests as well as by staff). On checkin found that Soap dispenser was empty and was taken away bu housekeping who forgot to replace it. The Toilet seat is installed too High making it uncomfortable. The size of the Toilet was too small. They should have selected better wc to fit the size.

Linen was good, amenities Ok, size perfect,

Restaurant at the Lobby level was good, economical and good.

Best part is that you can go anywhere from here due to its central Location.

Staff is extremely helpful.

Located right in the Delhi Railway Station premise, so good for Train travellers. At the same time, it's away from the hustle-bustle of the train travellers at the station.

However, the entrance is a little dificult to locate the 1st time around. Entrance way is crowded as well, if coming via car.

Also, if you are a very light sleeper, then the Honking of the night train can disturb you. But less likely. I slept like a LOG !!

I stayed here once alone and once with my wife in January 2009 for Rs 1200. Overall a good hotel but there is a problem in getting taxi drivers to find it. Most don’t recognize the address whether spoken or written down. But I eventually go there on every ride, with perhaps a ten minute delay. It is a forty-five minute car ride to and from the airports, don’t use a rickshaw.

Rooms were Spartan but spotless on both visits. The lobby was slightly less clean yet more than adequate for a quick stop over in Delhi. The restaurant had reasonable food and prices (Rs 60-100/entrée), but the menu was limited during any given meal.

Stayed at Ginger during a short trip to Delhi in January 2009 with friends. There were 3 of us, so we got the Family room which has 4 beds for Rs.1000/night
The stay was comfortable and just what it advertised itself as - a no frills hotel.

Though service at the hotel was good, there were areas for improvement.
1. The hotel provides only 2 towels in a room meant for 4 persons and you need to ask them for extra towels. The towels could be of better quality - they shed threads which stuck all over!
2. Wifi/Internet access is expensive at Rs.130/hour compared to internet rates elsewhere
3. The room key card repeatedly stopped working and meant a trip to the lobby each time to fix it!

On the positive side,
The staff was very polite and helpful.
The 24 hour cafe is convenient, especially when you need to leave at odd hours of the night. The food wasn't bad either :)
Having a metro station at your doorstep is really useful
The beds were very comfortable or maybe I was just really tired.

The location of the hotel near the New Delhi Railway Station and Metro station is convenient BUT it also means that road access to the hotel can be confusing, as it is in an area surrounded by a parking lot and a railway parcel area.

Overall, if you aren't going to spend a lot of time in your hotel room and just need a comfortable, safe and clean place to spend the night Ginger is the place for you, but don't expect a full service hotel. There are still a few kinks they need to iron out but the helpful staff fixes any problems quickly.

I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Delhi.

Hotel was good and neat and clean. As I presume they are a no frill hotel where we need to fetch our water as well. I guess they can modify those a bit. The toilets and the bath does not have any buckets or mugs. If you have a kid you are in for some trouble with that. No room service or bell boys are there. Not a bad choice for a stay next to NDLS station

We stayed in 12/2008 twice for 2 nights each in a family room which sleeps 4. The first time the room was not very cléan - but the second time it was. Great location - great price (INR 1000 per night). If you check in later or check out earlier they automatically give you a reimbursement.

The surrounding area is not recommended to go for a walk.
Due to heavy construction work and proximity to the railway station it does get loud if you wish to keep the window open. There are however 2 A/Cs in the family room and 2 fans.

The 24 hour restaurant in the basement is OK - its clean and has a wide variety of dishes: southindian, north indian, even blackforest cherry cake ;-)

The car rental service in the hotel is however a rip-off. Book your transport elsewhere.

Staff is friendly and helpful. You can also get your clothes washed there. Internet access works most of the time.

We pre-booked a room in Ginger hotel for our first night in Delhi. The taxi driver had serious problems to get to the hotel as the hotel is next to an enormous parking lot for rickshaws as well as the train station. However, he got us there and we were greeted by the friendly staff. Our room on the 5th floor wasn't that spacious but nice. Clean sheets, flatscreen TV and complimentary bottles of water as well as teabags and coffee. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest we have ever seen but good enough.

As we were leaving for Rajasthan, we decided to spend one more night a week later. We asked the front desk staff upon checkout about making a reservation for that night. They said that there were rooms available. However, they could not make the reservation - we had to do it through the Ginger website... To use their internet access, we would have to pay more than a 100 rs for a wireless card. (1 hour costs about 35-40 rs at any internet café in town)

The next time we came to Delhi, we found out that the metro is extremely close to the hotel, about 25 metres from the hotel gate. There is however no metro sign so you have to ask the guard to show you the direction.

Ginger hotel is also very close to the railway station which is convenient for early morning departures but also causes noice at night. The hotel isn't five-star but for the price, it's definitely recommended!

As an NRI family from USA, including 2 teenagers , and traveling in India for the first time, we were a little apprehensive about our Indian travel agent's recommendation re this hotel. However, overall experience for our 2 rooms over 5 nights turned out to be excellent .

We checked in at 3AM on 12/19 and checked out on 12/24 without any problems. They gave us partial credit for the 1st night, which was a pleasant surprise. Access to the hotel is cumbersome, but since we had hired a private car with a driver, this was not a problem for us.

Best things were front desk svc, 24hr restaurant (cheap, lots of variety, mild food, good svc), laundry svc, cleanliness, uninterrupted hot and cold running water, free water bottles, free tea & coffee, and access to a safe. We did not miss not having room service. Although the family room does have 4 beds, it is very small and quickly got congested with all our baggage. So our decision to book 2 rooms, and have access 2 bathrooms and extra space turned out be a good one.

The biggest issue was inconsistent housekeeping svc; e.g. some days we got only 1-2 towels or no TP for 4 people; one day no svc at all. They always fixed the problem promptly upon complaining, but it did not have to be this way. The only other issue was night time noise at the Rlwy Stn, which we drowned out by running the A/c fan without the A/c. Also, WiFi broke the 2nd day and never got fixed, even though they said it would be fixed within a couple of hours - a problem not unique to Ginger, but commonly encountered in India.

If you want a 5 star hotel, Ginger is not for you. But I would definitely recommend this hotel to any family that wants basic modern value for money.

Stayed at the Ginger New Delhi, mainly because of the location - it was a few mins walk to the train station and metro line so that is why we chose it.

Overall, it was really good value for money, clean hotel and friendly staff.

ROOM - room was an adequate size, wooden flooring and clean. The bathroom was a wet room but I found the toilet was a little high - such that when you were sat on the loo, your legs wouldn't touch the floor :-)
The complimentary water provided in the room was really good and a nice touch.

SERVICE - there was a restaurant bolted next door to the hotel with access from the hotel which served food which was great as it meant we didn't have to start hunting around for breakfast.

LOCATION - it was very conveniently positioned which was handy as we were catching the 0615 train to Agra so we just had to hop out of bed, and walk to the train. The location meant that you could hear the station announcements and was noisy at times, but we were in a city after all, so noise was expected. Ear plugs are something I now carry with me at all times!

OTHER - there was a little room which had complimentary water, iron and ironing board, and newspapers which was nice to have.

COST - very good value for money - can't fault this hotel on this!

Overall, I would definitely stay again, great little hotel, clean, good value for money - what more to do need! By no means was it the Ritz but it was functional - just what we needed!

Surprisingly Rooms at Ginger Hotel was available for the dates that I was traveling to New Delhi. it was an hazel to reach the hotel, with all the construction work going on around it, and its location near the station gave jitters. All these was only till we reached to the hotel. The people at the reception were friendly and the room, pretty clean and tidy. Could not say it was big, but was sufficient for 2 persons.

The only point of concern was the food at comesum restaurant housed inside, the food was just edible! though the live music at the restaurant was pretty good.

Overall the hotel is complete value for money

This is the best value hotel I've ever been to. Its thoroughly modern, with all the basic facilities (including payed Wi-Fi at rooms). The location is good too, with Metro station right outside, and one metro stop away from Connaught Place (i.e., 5 minutes). Also, its easily booked online. The downsides - the shower area is a bit small, and the beds are very light (which can be a bad thing if you want them to stay put). Its also quite busy just outside, due to the railway station (Indian Railways, not the metro). There is no room service, though the affordable 24 hour restaurant Comesum is decent.

For food they have outsourced to some cafe guy even he has decent food. I heard about this hotel from trip advisor before I stayed. Recently I had been to this hotel with family. Look if you are looking for budget hotel and want to visit spots near Delhi or Agra, I think this can be the best option. My family stayed in this hotel for 3 nights (standard + family room) at about 7000 INR. Because of this I could see all spots in Delhi as well as Agra (one day return via Shatabdi). It was really great deal.
But, remember since this budget hotel don't expect you will get service like 4 star or 5 star.
There is restaurant available in basement but self service and you can have that food which will be available on the rack.
Rooms are clean but I can rate them average and room service is poor as you need to do lot of follow-up with staff to get whatever you want.

Ginger hotel is located just next to the subway station so the location is good. To access to Paharganj we need to cross the railroad, though. We stayed in a twin room since no family room was available when I booked. The room was very small. It has an A/C but no windows so there was a unpleasant smell caused by no ventilation. Bed sheets were not clean and wet. I think this hotel is good for businessmen who stay one or two nights. However we had an advantage of location since we moved from the hotel to the airport by metro.

When I first stayed at Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas Delhi in year November 2009, I was mightily impressed. Ginger had converted the old government managaed rail yatri niwas to a nice, comforatble hotel. But when I stayed here in August 2011, all my first impression was shattered. The standard has gone down in terms of cleanliness, comfort and usability. The fittings have become old and rusted. Bathroom towels and bedheets were not clean enough. AC was noisy and was not its remote was not working. Paint on walls was peeling at certain places. Cockroaches in toilet were disgusting. The only thing good about Ginger Rail yatri niwas delhi is it is quite cheap. However, I will not stay there again. I do not know whether Ginger is unable to maintain its otherwise high standards due to the low rate they're charging here. I have stayed at Ginger hotels at Goa, Vadodara, Nashik and Mysore. I always enjoyed my stay there but this time the experience at Ginger delhi rail yatri niwas was disappointing. Even the restaurant has become stale with flies roaming in it. I decided not to have dinner at restaurant as I felt that its overall appearance was unhygenic. Dont stay there unless you're very tight on budget and don't get any other reasonable option.

Very next to New Delhi station. If you are not with kids or elderly people, you can walk to the hotel from New Delhi station. All the conveyance mechanisms are next to hotel. New Delhi Railway station, bus terminus as well as Metro - all walking distance. The rooms are not 3 star level, but clean and good if you just want to stay for night. Good value for money, considering 1700 that I paid for family room (4 beds).
Booking the hotel was a problem because they don't open till 15 days before the travel date. You might want to start checking with them 30 days before check-in date.
They didn't allow me to do early check-in despite having rooms available because its all governed by system. So, if they do early check-in, system will charge extra. But they helped me by putting my luggage in their staff room. I just went out and came back after couple of hours.
The restaurant is ok. Don't try south Indian here. North Indian is better. Convernient because its open 24X7.

Our intention of stay was to halt a day to do the day trip to visit Mathura-Agra-Delhi before we take our international flight. Our reason was therefore clear that we needed to be close to the train station to be able to take the shatabdhi (Delhi-Agra-Delhi) and as well reach airport by the shortest and most convenient mode (Airport express train). The hotel is excellentlly located close to the railway station and the airport express metro station - just 200 mts walk. Airport express is excellently maintained (so far) with convenience to use the trolley etc right from the entrance to the terminal. Likewise the ginger hotel also has trolleys to help with the luggage from the lift till the entrance which is a great plus! Rooms were decent and clean, except that the bathroom always had water being stagnant after a wash. You cannot expect a sound proof room if you prefer to stay close to the station, so one cannot complain about a relaxing sleep. Never tried the restaurant though checked that they were priced moderately. The reception is always empty and you had to wait for 15-20 mins to be serviced. The staff not too prompt with the words - we did ask for a wake up call at 5 as we had to leave at 6 to take the morning shatabdhi and to our surprise we were woken at 5 45:-). Thankfully we had an alarm on the mobile for those just in case situations. There is a board which says 24/7 travel agent and we never saw anybody at the counter. Otherwise the hotel was quite ok for the purpose of our stay. The scanning machines at the entrance is a real pain though! All in all a decent place for transit passengers.

The Ginger Hotel is very well located: 200 m from the New Delhi Railway Station and from the exit of the Metro (from the International Airport).

If it is your first port of call, it might be disappointing: the rooms are basic, the windows are small, the building is ugly and the checking-in requires the reservation number (the name is not enough). The tiles in the shower room are slippy.

On the other hand, it compares well with other hotels in India. At least a towel is provided, the 24-hour restaurant is convenient. The rooms are better than most others in the same price range.

And is is well located: within walking distance on Old Delhi and of Connaught Place.

Just for that it is probably worth the (minor?) inconveniences.

I knew going into it that this would be budget lodging, so I had already calibrated my expectations and wasn't anticipating 5 star accommodations. Let me start with the positives - this place is an incredible value for the money. And if you're coming/going by train, you're right near the station which makes it very convenient. There is an on-site restaurant and tour desk to book trips, drivers, or get info. The A/C in the room worked well, there was ample storage space (a wardrobe and some shelves), and some basic items such as soap and pen/paper were provided (a surprise for something in this price range).

So where did things fall short? For starters, it was a challenge to locate - our cabbie had to stop and ask for assistance a couple times and when we finally saw the Ginger sign, we had to cross our fingers that the cab would make it down the muddy, puddle-filled road (it was unpaved and this was monsoon season) to get us to the front door. The immediate area seemed a bit sketchy - even late at night there were always people milling around outside. At first it was unsettling, but after a day or two you realize people are generally doing their own thing and it didn't really feel threatening.

Overall the service at the front desk was poor. The reception clerk was on the phone when we arrived shortly after midnight, and took his time finishing his conversation before acknowledging us. Check-in seemed to take an unnecessarily long time, and when we finally received the keys to our 2 rooms, they weren't even on the same floor despite being part of the same reservation. The night before we checked out we asked if they could arrange a taxi to bring us to the airport the next day and were told to call one ourselves. When we asked for a number to a cab company the clerk seemed very put off and then finally dialed someplace himself and told us a cab would meet us in the morning. Yes, we could have just ventured over to the train station and grabbed a cab, but that would have meant trudging through the mud and puddles with our suitcases in hand and it didn't seem very practical or hygienic (there were things on the street that the rain swept into the puddles that would make you cringe). Plus there were 4 of us and we needed to guarantee we would all fit in one vehicle.

The rooms themselves were minimalist and the beds were quite comfortable if you like a more firm mattress. Bottled water was provided each day, as well as various instant teas. There was a small TV mounted on the wall (we were curiously intrigued by the MTV-like videos of traditionally dressed Indian people dancing to Indian rap music, with the occasional appearance of a scantily clad blonde "westerner"). The room colors were bold, but the paint was worn and in need of a fresh coat. Our bathroom was dirty when we arrived. There was still garbage in the trash bin, hardly any toilet paper remaining, and the grout was very dingy and gave bathroom an overall gross feel. The shower took a while to heat up and the pressure wasn't very strong. Our room was on the side of the building that did not face the train station, so the noise wasn't too terrible (especially with the A/C going). Our friends were 2 floors up and on the other end of the building and they could still hear the street noise below even with the A/C. So if you have a choice, ask for a room that's on the same side of the building as reception.

The on-site services were OK. The restaurant's breakfast buffet didn't have much to choose from, but the staff were friendly and the price was good (about $3 per person - be sure to try the various juices and chai tea!). The concierge/travel desk was somewhat helpful in booking our Taj Mahal trip, however we were quite surprised at the language barrier. It seems like somebody in that role should have a better command of English as he is dealing mainly with tourists, but perhaps Ginger draws a more indigenous clientele. Nonetheless, he was able to arrange a driver for a full day, to bring 4 of us to & from Agra in one day. (We ran into some major traffic problems on the way back and the "day" ended up lasting about 17 hours instead of 12, so we tipped our driver extra). Note to all: if you're planning a day trip like this, make sure you have a few hours of contingency - the traffic is unpredictable and quite heavy for most of the ride between Delhi and Agra!

I think the reason my expectations fell short was because the website made the place look so squeaky clean and new, but it was actually quite tired and filthy in areas. I'm surprised to see that the overall rating is a 4 with over 250 reviews - it makes me wonder if we just got one of the worst rooms in the place? Regardless, if you're just looking for budget accommodations and a bed, and the weather's not too rainy, this place is a real bargain.

I visited New Delhi in December 2010 and stayed in Ginger for 2 days in the third week of December. The reason for my choosing Ginger was obvious: lowest room tariff, proximity to the Railway station (I arrived there in Rajdhani Express) and the many positive reviews on tripadvisor. Encountered problems when getting in the room as the door-card wasn’t working. Upon reporting this at the reception, I was told that the system wasn’t working properly and hence, my room number couldn’t be configured on the card. The problem wasn't solved till I checked out the next evening (I paid half day's rent extra to extend my stay.)

The hotel is located bang opposite the New Delhi Railway station, just outside platform number 16 towards the Ajmeri Gate side. The access road to the hotel is really filthy and filled with the parcel guys and stray dogs and thus, guests coming in after dark or early in the morning need to be extra careful.

My room was a twin room with the basics: two beds, one 21” LG LCD TV, a bathroom with hot and cold water facilities, including hot water in the shower (Thank you, Ginger!!) My room was not cleaned even once during my two-day stay. I saw many foreigner guests there, including single women travelers, which indicates that the hotel is safe for women. There is no room service, and the restaurant in the ground floor, Comesum, is your only resort if you are looking for an early morning or late night snack. The food there was nice, but slightly over-priced. During the day-time, one can visit Connaught Place, which is just 10 minutes away from the hotel (we visited Tao restaurant in the E Block - highly recommended). The Metro station is also right outside the hotel, giving this place easy accessibility.

The next morning, I asked for a cab to take me and my partner for a city tour, and it was arranged immediately at a very reasonable price.

Overall, this is a good place, but the cleanliness sucks. Will definitely visit this place again, next time hoping for a cleaner room.

Lovely location if u got to travel around Delhi being adjacent to the rail head as well at the Metro station-- food was available at a restaurant downstairs which was mostly self service but food was edible and prices reasonable for Delhi standards-- Reservations on the net difficult to get but booking possible by personally visiting and paying advance to block rooms --quite busy hotel remains filled all the time

This hotels is really located in the Shahdhara area - though the place is just about 15 kms Noida, getting there from Noida is a pain - unless you have your own car. The taxis/autos refuse to go to this place from Noida since it is in Delhi and not UP. Otherwise, the hotel is like a typical Ginger hotel - clean and basic. The room I had was really small (just a little single bed with virtually no place to keep your foot around. It was OK for me since I just needed a clean place to crash fr the night. The restaurant is quite nice - they also had a buffet for dinner.

We needed a no frills clean budget hotel for two nights and Ginger RYN was the best option available .Only about 500 mts from the NDlS railway station and 200 mts from the metro station. The rooms are just clean with four single beds in a family room. There is no kind of room service available. But for a tourist the nearness to both the Metro and the main station is a plus point. We had to change the room once as the initial room had cockroaches roaming over our bed. There is a pure veg restaurant in it which has limited menu

We went to Delhi to watch commom wealth games and we have booked a room for two days for guinger hotel, new delhi. I must say that it does not stand as per expectation. We thought that being TATA group company, though it is a No frill hotel, there has to be some level of standards.

First of all when we reached there, they told us that room were not ready. We waitied for two hrs. and after that they gave the room. Room wall had problem of moisture. thought it was four bed room they gave only three towels and when we asked for teh forth towel they said they cannot give more that three although we have paid for four person.

So not a place to stay.

I had stayed at this hotel before and have reviewed it in Trip Advisor.

This is my second stay. The quality or the entire place has gone down a bit... May be because it was off season or something.

The access to this place by bus from the airport is just horrible. Hope this gets better over the days once the work in front of the New Delhi Railway station gets over.

The access from the Railway Station is also a bit difficult, especially if it has rained. You can also get to this place by crossing the parcel area, which is not recommended off hours.

The room I got was not as good as the one that got last time. But basically for a night it was OK... For a single business traveller, at the cost, it was good.

The Railway station nearby and the metro station a stone's throw, the location is good.

The restaurant in the basement is a rip-off !!!

Thanks...

Cheap (for Delhi), simple modern hotel very close to New Delhi Railway Station. Rooms have good aircon and are reasonably clean with decent modern bathrooms. The hotel common areas are a bit grubby. Breakfast is good, but seems to be only India.

Goof for a cheap overnight stay if catching a train or arriving late at the station, but personally wouldn't choose for a long stay.

OK, this is not he place you bring someone to impress them....but at 110 rupees per night for a clean room with private bath and flat screen cable tv and A/C....this is an amazing value. It's right next to the train station so there can be a bit of noise...but the windows do a good job of keeping things quiet. The Ginger chain is no-frills and serve-yourself....but it works well if you just need a clean room in between trains or planes.

The location is best from Rail, Metro, Cab, Airport

The main difficulty is to get reservations at the 11th hr. i have to book the hotel much in advance else I am forced to stay at some other hotel.

The room service, cleanliness, welcome etc every thing is very good.

I am not happy with the quality and choice of the veg food and hence many times I have to go out for dinner.

But over all I can say that Ginger is best value for the money I pay.

After having hardtime to book this hotel via online, finally we got two nights booked on the 11th and 14th of september. The taxi driver didn't know the way how to get to the hotel, and the road leading to the hotel entrance was really in bad shape, big holes, wet and muddy. We had a hard time just to walk our way to the railway station in the early morning.

The room was ok, not that clean and the pigeons outside the aircon made some noises at night. Some of the staffs were helpful with my questions about nearby directions but they never pick up the phone from the room.

This hotel is good only if you are going to use the ND railway station in early morning or when you arrived in the station very late at night.

Room Charges of Ginger, New Delhi are low, because they are in agreement with Indian Railway for the same, But the Food Prices, and Internet Charges?????
From their WI-FI Ad, I had a misconception that its free, but there i could know that I had to buy a pre-paid card for Rs.110/-, which is valid for ONE HOUR, once it is activated.
same is condition of the food charges of the Restaurant in the basement.

This is another great work done by Lalu Yadav to hand over this Indian railway Property to TATA. Previously It was simply Rail Yatri Niwas and during those days, it was available to the common railway passengers. Now the online booking system is totally under control of TATA. Of course, they have given the room share to Railway, which are booked through the portal of irctc.co.in, but they open the booking of rooms only for 15 days in advance.
No genuine railway passenger, for whom, the concept of rail Yatri Niwas was conceived, can get a room, unless the same was not booked in advance.
Can anybody from railway, answer these queries??
Thanks,
Ajay

This place had clean rooms, effecient staff and a location very close to the Delhi Railway Station. The metro/subway was also closeby. But Ginger still seems to be a budget hotel so I won't recommend it to someone going to Delhi purely for leisure or holiday. The price is very affordable, including the prices down at the restaurant. A lot of variety in food but if you're in Delhi for holidaying, I would still recommend trying out other places in Khan Market or Connaught Place for food. Overall, this is a very nice budget hotel close to the railway station so is good for a quick business stay of a day or two.

We were on our way to Leh and had to stay at Delhi for one night to catch the next day's early morning flight to Leh. We selected Ginger as it was a TATA venture and was economic.

It took us some time to find the hotel. The access road is not very good. The hotel is no frills basic hotel. A VALUE FOR MONEY hotel. The rooms are small but clean and decent. We had booked 3 rooms for 5 of us. Unfortunately the AC in my room was not working perfectly. Else we had no issues.

The 24 hour restaurant has very limited menus post 10 PM but yet good hygienic Indian food. The travel desk arranged for a pick taxi as well as drop Taxi - an Innova. The pick up vehicle was very dirty from inside but the drop vehicle was clean.

Over all a good hotel for one or 2 days business stay or for a transit stay.

We stayed at the Ginger hotel in New Delhi in the first week of Jan 10.

The booking process was a nightmare. I had been following up with the hotel since as early as Sep'09, however, they kept telling me that the booking slots for Jan are not yet open! This happened till as late as 15th December 2009. Then finally I was told the slots are open, and that rooms can be booked.

The website (and also the hotel folks) say that the payment for the booking can be made at any Ginger hotel in India.. However, this was not true. I was told at a local Ginger hotel in Pune that they will not accept the payment.

Finally I managed to book the hotel through IRCTC.co.in

The room was good, and clean. The bathroom was also well maintained. The staff is friendly, however, please remember to carry photo IDs of *ALL* persons staying in the room and not only of the person who booked the room.

The location of the hotel is good - bang opposite the New Delhi Railway station. Metro entrance is right opposite the hotel main gate - which is its prime advantage. You will not have to haggle with the Auto Wallas :)

The in-house restaurant is okay, value for money. Please dont expect fine cuisine there!

All in all - value for money in a city like Delhi; and a good experience if they improve their booking process :)

Well what an experience. There is no doubt about it, The Ginger is right in the heart of Dehli, so very convenient to stay for exploring/touring. It is a minute walk to the railway station. You will however need very good ear plugs as the noise is horrendous all day and worse at night, you may as well sleep on the railway track, with the local people and dogs!!
Anyhow, as usual in India the beds were rock hard. The hotel was basic, but generally clean in all areas.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was ok, there was a decent selection of basic food. However the breakfast was not too good.
You may need several yoga and massage sessions after staying here!. On saying that we did enjoy our stay in Dehli, what an eye opener.

We had three one-night stays here as we used Delhi as a transit point for various excursions during our month-long holiday.
The hotel's location, just yards from the unimaginable filth and detritus and all-round excremental disgrace that is the New Delhi Sewerage Station, I mean - New Delhi Railway Station, is undoubtedly very convenient.
The large hotel is easy to see even at night time and even with luggage you can just walk across the car park that lies between the station and the hotel.
With all the building work going on for the Commonwealth Games (Surely flattening the city would be a better option? After all, it’s been rebuilt several times already over the centuries!) it might look daunting to get to but walking is far quicker and cheaper than any tuk-tuk or taxi - as we found to our cost the first time we tried to get to it.
We had three different rooms during our three stays and, despite reports from other contributors, we found each room clean in all respects with all the facilities you'd expect in a business hotel (albeit a budget hotel) including copious hot water.
The 24-hour coffee shop / restaurant was fine - lots of well-dressed locals were even coming in for takeaways.
Staff were pleasant and helpful but they won't store luggage so you'll have to use the Left Luggage Office at the station. Lock your bags and padlock them to the bays - thieves had a damn good go at attempting to break into my friend's suitcase.
The hotel's location is also it's biggest problem. The AC can inevitably bring in the smells of the station but this isn't the hotel's fault, nor is the damn awful noise from the trains coming through the station whose horns even the deaf can hear! What is it with Indians and noise, anyway? Perhaps ask the hotel if it has rooms facing away from the station. Otherwise take ear (and possibly, nose) plugs.
Anyway - the plus points are of the hotel's making and the minus points (apart from not storing luggage for late leavers) isn't.
I would happily try other Ginger hotels. The only reason I wouldn't go back to their Delhi hotel is because it would mean my going back to Delhi. A more hellish scenario I cannot imagine.

I'm a Brazilian living in Bangalore, and May this year my family came to visit me and my wife. I planned the visit to New Delhi and Agra, so I booked on-line two double rooms. Two weeks before I called to check if the reservations were really made, luckily it was! :)
Finding this hotel is complicated, and if you're a foreigner, no taxi driver will believe you know where it is (even you have a map in your hands). Tell the driver that it’s next to Pinto Road, and that he has to go through the rail station car/rickshaw’s parking area to get to the hotel.
The location is pretty good to visit the sites in New Delhi.
This is a budget hotel, so don’t expect any frills. You’ll find a bed, AC (little noisy), LCD TV, a desk with a small fridge and a standard western bathroom.
Our towels were a little dirty and the bed sheets where smaller than the bed, even thou cleaner than some 4 star hotels I’ve stayed in Pune, Chennai and Mumbai.
There’s a 24 hours restaurant in the ground floor, if you like Indian food you’re going to enjoy yourself. If you don’t you can get an auto-rickshaw for 5-10 minutes and go to Connaught Place to eat something. The hotel does have omelette and toast.
The hotel does deliver what it promises, a safe and clean place to sleep. If you’re looking for some glamour try other hotels, but if you don’t want to spend money, this should prove good enough.

Older, old-fashioned ppl are really confused when they have to deal with card locks and all those modern tools. The area around the hotel isn't too safe, quiet or clean. It is just near the New Delhi station so u can imagine all that mess around and how is it at night. But one good thing is that u have a metro station just at the corner and 24hr Comsume in it. Food isn't great but safe.

We initially booked this as we were going to be catching a train from Corbett National Park into New Delhi station (2 minute walk away). However we ended up catching a taxi from Corbett instead and our driver had all sorts of problems trying to get to the front door and ended up parking in a nearby car park! It's not in the nicest of areas, I definitely wouldn't advise walking around on your own at night.

It is a standard stopover hotel, like a Travelodge or a Premier Inn in the UK. It's a pretty basic room, but has most that you need with air con, flat screen tv, tea, coffee and water. It's clean, the check in and out were simple and there's a restaurant/cafe downstairs. It's unbelievably cheap at about £14 for a night and with the money we saved here we went for drinks and dinner at The Imperial Hotel.

My friends and I booked a room at Ginger to save some money. It came highly recommended by my friend's coworkers in Bombay. However, we ended up not staying there. On the drive there, our driver muttered in Hindi that 'cheaters go there'. Then, as we waited to check in, the fellow customers, all men, started casually inching closer to my friends and me. We were a group of 3 20-something women, and two of us are white. While we may very well have been perfectly fine, it would have been nice to know about the area and clientele before we booked the room.

Later in the week, my friend reconnected with a friend from Delhi who told us it's located in the Red Light district. That reaffirmed our choice to return to Claridges.

Couples, men, families - I'm sure it's a great deal. Women traveling without male companions... it might be prudent to stay elsewhere.

It's an Indian TravelLodge. So excellent value for money, good clean room with a/c and good clean bathroom but basic decor and a bit echoey in the corridors. The restaurant / snack bar is good (try the plain dosa). It is a short trundle across the car park and through a little gateway from New Delhi railway station. You can't leave your luggage before / after check-in but there's a rather forbidding left luggage place in the station. The hotel has a perimeter fence and a security guard. Immediately outside, you're in a horrendous noisy tide of hand carts, jeeps, motorbikes etc - or you can hit lucky and find it pretty quiet. Getting in is OK if the taxi knows the circuitous route to the entrance. Otherwise, they'll drop you right by the building and it is quite a challenge to find the way in. Expensive internet.

I choose this hotel after extensive research of hotels in Delhi.

The thing that finally swung it for me, was that is was cheap.

The selection of hotels in Delhi swings from the cheap to the ridiclious.

The Ginger seemed to be a hotel that served the purpose of being a safe, clean bed for a couple of nights.

We flew in from Goa, for a couple of days of sightseeing, a day trip to Agra and then onward to Jaipur.

This hotel was adequate for that purpose.

The good points were, clean rooms, serviced daily, on site 24hrs cafe, close to the new delhi railway station, great for catching the shatbadi express at 06.15 to Agra

The bad points, the construction work of the metro makes the area chaos, a taxi ride from anywhere else, you over look an interesting area!, expensive wi-fi

Conclusion: If you want a good value, clean hotel in Delhi, the Ginger hotel is a good option

Ginger was not a highlight of my accommodation in India. We were booked there due to its proximity to New Delhi Station for an early train, and I can't imagine any other reason to stay there. Staff were downright rude, as if even speaking to us was a struggle. The room was tiny, mouldy, the sheets somewhat less than clean, and the room akin to a small box. The area is not suitable for women on their own to wander around - altogether worth staying further away and booking a cab for an earlier start.

As convenient as the hotels location-the service was mainly my issue.

We arrived late into check in. The process was very long. As foreigners we had to fill out a page long questionnaire-each. Other people also arrived to check in and were trying to push in-but the receptionist told them to wait.

Once we were finally in our room we just wanted to sleep.
To our suprise the room was quite big then initally thought. Free drinking water was also provided.

We didnt have any towels so I went down stairs and go some. The power converter we bought didnt fit ( even though we had used it in Mumbai). So I called reception and they told us they were sending one up. I waited for an hour before I fell asleep. The Aircon decided to change tempretures through out the night and make noises-which was not fun when all you want to do is have a decent sleep.

In the morning I went down again to reception (because our toilet paper was not replaced nor was our toilet cleaned). After waiting over 30mins to get served-while everyone around me got served-regardless that they came after me-a nice couple told the receptionist that I had been waiting a while to get served. While waiting there-I did notice-if you are an Indian residence your rooms would be on floors 1-4 and foreigners are place on floors 5-7. Im not sure if the rooms are different on these floors compared to the one we were in.
When it was finally my turn I enquired if there was some policy that the rooms get cleaned everyday-as we didnt have toilet paper and our toilet had not been cleaned from the previous guests. The girl told me "sorry mam-we dont do that''. I then re-enforced the fact that there was feaces in the toilet bowel and all she could say was ''I cant do anything''. while down there I also asked again about the power converter-and found out that the hotel infact didnt have any! Furious I retuurned to our room and my sister told me that there was a guest room-to fill the water bottles and iron your clothes. I went looking for it around the corner and found it-also finding the cleaners-who were more then happy to give me toilet paper.

Now it was about 11 in the morning and we wanted to go shopping-basically to get out of the hotel. The power kept going off so the Aircon and T.V were of no use. As we were on the 7th floor we used the elevators to travel. As we were travelling down-the power goes off. We pressed the alarm-which didnt seem to work as we didnt hear anything ourselves. My sister then had to phyically open the door and we jumped out then took the stairs. We went to the tour desk and were quoted Rs.500 to travel to Karol Bagh. We then walked to the taxi stand and got a taxi for Rs120.

We tried to stay out as much as possible away from the hotel. Luckly the next day we were on a day trip to Agra and checking out the day after!

The 24 hour chemist down stairs was handy-but you need to know what you are looking for-so make sure you know what the active drug is (ie paracetamol or codine) and make sure it says that on the packet you purchase downstairs-if you intend on buying something from here.

Overall-never staying in Ginger Hotel. I dont care how conveniently located this hotel is-a lot of the locals we came in contact with questioned why we were staying in such a unsafe area. I really dont recommend this hotel to anyone-unless you have A LOT of patience.

Ginger Delhi Yatri NIwas is an ideal foil for transit of train, otherwise even though they are reasonable, the food is bad.... we actually got a cockroach in our food and the attitude of waiters was also not good.....

we chose this hotel as it was close to the railway station which we liked as we were getting the shadabti express to agra and the hotel was cheap, personally we think they are its only positives.
you cannot check in until 1pm no matter how early you arrive, so we had to hang around for a hour, then it was manic as everyone is trying to check in at once and the hotel is very busy.
the rooms are very basic and we think shabby, they need a good refurb as the rooms are looking tired, we likened it to staying in a hostel.
if you are getting a taxi to this hotel from the airport tell them its the ajmeri gate side, would we recommend it?...no....but for a cheap basic hotel close to the railway station then its ok

We booked this hotel for day use,to relax as we had to halt in delhi and then further move on.I booked it for day us for rs2200 buy their website.
The location was terrible nothing in and around. They did not even have pick up service from nearest metro station which was 5 kms from their.

The receptionist their was not at all polite,we where not treated like guest but some one who is forcibly taking room. They should improve upon that.
We where given room in fourth floor.lift was fine.lobby was good.
Room ambiance was fine. They had a small a.c of 1.5ton which even set on 19 degree was not enough to cool the room.
We had requested for double bed but they had two beds which even had gap in between,so while sleeping my feet stuck in that and it hurt
The bathroom size was so so small that I can even think of.They just made it for sake of making a bathroom.
To add to misery they have some renovation or what going on upper floor,so their where noises all around of hammering.

I needed a deep sleep but I couldn't get it their.

Their is no scenic view from window even.
For food they have tie up with Khaja Chowk, the food was good.

Over all if u have some work in east delhi and want to stay just for a day and need neet and clean room u can go.for leisure a big no

Delhi was part of our Dehli-Agra-Jaipur tour and my friends and I stayed 2 nights in Ginger Hotel, Delhi. The location is very convenient (near airport metro station + metro station + train station) but that's about all that's good about the hotel.

The room was small and the toilet was basic. The bedsheet was a little dirty. However, given that we already expected this to be a very basic place, we have no complaints about the facilities.

What really upset us was the poor service! We asked for extra pillows the staff said there were none. We asked for toilet rolls and we never received them. And when we tried to deposit our bags at the hotel when we were checking out in the morning (as our flight was late at night), the staff told us there's no baggage deposit service. However, we saw some indian guests depositing their luggage in a "give and take" room , so we asked again. The staff then tried to tell us it's because these guests were checking in, not checking out. We then asked the guests and they told us they were also checking out like us!! Only then did the staff allow us to deposit our bags. No explanations were provided. No apologies at all. Totally lousy service!

Ginger Hotels New Delhi is like the Easyjet of hotels, only not particularly easy. The rooms are perfect, spick and span with all the amenities you could need - TV, air con, tea-making facilities and clean towels and bed linen. Oh, and a nice hot shower. However, I would not advise staying there as the staff are just so completely unhelpful and fairly rude that it makes the entire experience a little unpleasant. Not once during our two-night stay did anyone make us feel welcome or ask if we needed help. We checked in at 1pm and waited half an hour in a queue at reception to do so. We tried to book a taxi to the airport and they tried to charge us 800 rupees, when the going rate of about 300 rupees is already a bit of a con. When we asked reception to book a taxi, they pointed us to the "travel desk," which was unmanned! The travel desk, when manned, was also entirely useless. The other downside of the hotel is that it's very hard to get to. If the taxi driver doesn't know where it is (and many don't), they will struggle to find it, and the address isn't conducive to finding it easier (the address is simply New Delhi Railway Station, which is enormous). Also, this hotel is practically impossible for westerners to book - you can't do it online unless you have specific Indian bank accounts etc, and when trying to book an extra night (after already having booked and paid for two nights) on the phone, I was told I couldn't do so without and OTP number from my bank. The central reservation line is pretty unfriendly too. I would recommend the hotel only if you want somewhere clean, cheap and convenient to stay, but just don't expect friendly service. Also, we tried to use the internet in the hotel and were told it "wasn't working". So, all in all, really not that Easy.

We had a reservation at Ginger for two nights in December. I booked our stay there primarily because of its proximity to the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), and for its affiliation with the Tata brand, which is well-known throughout India -- they own the Taj brand, too -- so I didn't think it'd be all that bad. Boy, was I wrong. After flying into Delhi and taking a cab to Ginger from the airport (cabbie couldn't find the hotel -- not trying to scam us or anything, or send us to another hotel that paid him commission, he honestly couldn't find it!), we arrived at the Ginger at around midnight. The front desk clerk looked half-asleep -- sure, fine, it's midnight. But then he spent around 5-10 minutes seemingly searching for a room for us on the computer (from what I could gather, many rooms hadn't been cleaned). Unacceptable for a customer with an advance reservation.

After being informed that the card reader on our room was broken and and having a housekeeper let us in with a key, we found that the room was pretty filthy. The floors were dirty, the walls were stained around the light switches and doorknobs, and the sheets and duvet were stained and dingy. Not what I expected from a Tata brand hotel.

After a harrowing walk to the train station early the next morning and a long day touring the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort, my wife and I decided to eat the $40 cost and stay at a different hotel our second night in Delhi. I wouldn't go back to Ginger.

Stayed on 16th October, 2010. Arranged for pick-up for six (6) adults and hotel quoted Rp850 from IGI to hotel. Arrived at IGI and driver was waiting. Arrived at the hotel, the drived demanded Rp1,800 for pick-up from airport and not RP850.00. The front desk informed that they have outsourced the pick-up to a car rental company and its not their responsibility. When we argued abt the confirmation from Tata-HQ and Ginger-HQ, they said tht their quotation is for a small car and not fo a INNOVA and if we dont pay RM1,800 we will have problem checking out.

NOT wanting any trouble, we paid the sum under protest as we had to board the train at 7.20am next morning.

I stayed in the hotel only because of the storage service, since it is located beside ND railway station, but the front desk man told me it was "not allowed" to leave lugagge in the "take & go" room that all ginger hotels smartly include. Although I insisted, the "now allowance" persisted. I suggest (1) to mention that the storage room is surprisingly suspended on your website and (2) to take away the label so pax like me do not fell frustrated.
Really disapointed on the way the guy at the front desk showed when I insisted and insisted.

We stayed in Ginger 4 nights, and did not come from the train station or leave from there. Therefore, this hotel was not the best choice for us and we found its location difficult and unpleasant.

Room was always clean, but staff were rude and reluctant to offer any kind of help. Restaurant being open 24h was a plus, but food was at best okay, never really good.

All in all, this place lacks charm and ambiance. This is not the place to stay to visit Delhi, but would work ok if you are simply travelling through

The room facilities provided are good. Definitely value for money. There were adequate power backup during outage. Room space, Air conditioning, LCD TV, availability of TV Channels, bathroom were very good.

However housekeeping and service at reception were not upto the mark. These, I believe could be removed through adequate supervision and training.

Food at restaurant (Comesum) is expensive and not tasty. There are no other food joints in the neighbourhood so we were compelled to have most of our meals from the restaurant.

This was one of my worst experiences!!! I finished a whole days work in delhi & had to return to this hotel in the night.

The arrangement for my stay was made by my office in Mumbai. I tired calling the hotel serveral times during the day to inform them that i have arrived & will be checking in only later that day, only in vain as no one answered the phone all throght the day.

When i left to head to the hotel we reched the new delhi railway station, but NO ONE seemed to know where this hotel was located. I tried calling them up one again. As there was no answer & since it was 12:30am i began to panick & called a colleague in mumbai for some assistance. He gave me the same nos to dial but again all was in vain as no one answered.

After almost 1.5hrs I finally managed to ask around & we got to the hotel. I was furious. As i walked in i realised that there was absoluteley no one at the front desk, the phone too was ringing after looking around the front desk executive came & asked : can i help you" I gave him a piece of my mind & asked him what kind of a hotel do you run. This was a chain affiliated with the TATA group.

i the went to my room

apart frm my bad experience, this a budget hotel costing apprx 1000rs. a night. There is no room service or house keeping. You have to dine a self service restaurant. The food is similar to your meals alavailable at a food court in any mall in mumbai. The food is average for the price.

If you have a low budget then this is the place for you, if you can find it!!

Exercise extreme caution when booking this hotel. They will cancel the booking even though the room has been paid for in advance at 3 pm if you don't inform the hotel in advance that you wish to check in late. Very surprising that they can do this and really not expected from such an ethical business house like the Tatas.

We reached Delhi at 12.30 am to stay at this hotel as we had to catch an early morning train but when we reached there they refused to give us the room. The reception staff told us that this had been informed in the email sent by the hotel which I never received. I just got a confirmation text from the hotel in which nothing like that was mentioned. Reception staff was rude and not at all co-operative. Was really disappointed.

This year we planned to go up North for our annual summer holiday. Our first stop was Delhi. Since it was our first visit to Delhi, we thought that we would be on the safe side, if we booked our stay at Ginger Hotel. Our experience at Ginger Hotels (Mysore and Goa) has been great so far and hence we made this decision. Ginger Hotels have two hotels in Delhi, one very close to the Delhi Railway Station and one close to the Delhi Airport. We had a telephonic conversation with the Ginger Hotel staff and they suggested that we should stay at the Ginger Hotel Rail Yatri Nivas, as it was close to the highway. We were a little apprehensive about Ginger Hotel Rail Yatri Nivas, as there was a big difference in the room tariff compared to the Ginger Hotel close to the Delhi Airport. But we were assured by the hotel staff that the same standards were maintained at every Ginger Hotel. The moment we entered the hotel, we were in for a rude shock. The reception area was stinking of vomit and excreta, there were flies all over the place and it looked like it was not being maintained properly. It was so dirty that we did not feel comfortable to even sit on the sofa which was falling apart. We went upstairs and had a look at the room we had booked and were not satisfied at all. It was not like the other Ginger Hotels that we had visited at Mysore and Goa. If you are a stickler for cleanliness, then you will not like this hotel at all. After inspecting the room, we immediately set out in search of another hotel and did not even think twice about the cancellation charges.

Ginger Hotel,Rail Yatri Nivas ,New Delhi is the poster child for the saying "you get what you pay for".On paper it all looks good:hotel from the renowned Tata group, close proximity to the Delhi Metro and the New Delhi Railway Station as well as easy access to Connaught Place etc...The reality is somewhat of a rude shock.Check-in reminded me of waiting at a supermarket line-chaotic,not much customer service and other guests constantly queue jumping. Once we got checked in we carted our luggage up in airport style trolleys which was fine. What wasn't acceptable was that the key-card for the room did not work and after a couple of trips back down to reception we were told that we'd have to wait till the floor man got off his lunch break to remedy the problem. We noticed other guests that had checked in were experiencing the same problem.By this time we were feeling pretty tired and had established the fact that the lack of basic service and courtesy was a genuine flaw.I know Ginger is a line of BUDGET hotels but even budget has some standards.
We were not hopeful that what was behind the hotel door was any better than what we had experienced so far and lo and behold our fears were realized. The room was booked for three people, but the bedding inside was two single beds and to make matters worse the bed-covers were marked with what looked like dirty footmarks. The bathroom was clean but they reckoned that three guests could amply survive on one bath towel. When we asked the floor man for more towels he was reluctant to hand them over. The phone in the room was unable to make outgoing calls. After repeated service calls to reception the phone was never fixed during our stay.
The really tragic part of the Ginger scenario is the location.Convenience is as convenience does.Getting in and out of the hotel is quite literally hell. The distance between the train station and hotel was a stones throw away but the access was disgusting.Just outside the gateway to the hotel-and the only way in, was a rubble and dirt road filled with mud, garbage and urine. The road further along was crisscrossed with concrete dividers and constantly clogged with three-wheelers,cars and roadside merchants-not an easy place to drag luggage over.We like to walk and have done so at the many hotels we stayed in all over India previous to the Delhi stay.Staying at Ginger Yatri Nivas was definitely not worth it.Pay some more money and check the location surroundings first.

They call it as a transit hotel and promote themselves as the cheapest. But the check in times are such that they mint double money even if you are staying for few hours by taking cover of their policy. Their policies on check-in are weird and not at all. As per their check-in policy, you can check-in 1 hour prior to the usual check-in time. I had booked the hotel for day use, where the check-in time is 9 am. Ginger staff tried to make 50% of the tariff for just one hr early check-in in our case. They did not allocate us the room one hour before and kept us waiting in the lobby with our 7 yr old daughter. We were traveling (night time) for 15 hours before checking in at ginger at 5 am. We had booked room only for few hours (day use) as we had to get fresh and catch a train in the afternoon. I requested their staff Mr.Bhanu several times but he was stub on his stand mentioning that their policy doesn't allow. Their policies are designed to take undue advantage of the customer's situation and make more money. After speaking to the hotel manager Mr.Anadhi, he mentioned it to be a transit hotel providing rooms at cheap rates. I suggest, if they term it as a transit hotel then the policy should be changed to 24 hrs usage from check-in time instead of having fixed check-in time.

We booked this hotel through online for the first week of march. I booked two family rooms and one double suite for two days. Though family rooms cant be booked online, I tried hard and made the booking by online transfers. I was atleast under the hope of a better hotel just becuase of the backing brand "Tata". But the experience I had here was really horrible.
Poor Response: We reached a little early and asked for an early checkin. There were no proper responses from the reception people, not a proper yes or no was given. We were waiting in the lobby for hours withfout knowing what to do, where most of the time the reception desk was empty.
We were given one of our rooms for early checkin for half price and was happy for that.
We got our next family room at 1 bout never got the second family room on the correct time. Room cleaning was the explanation given. It was ok for us, as we were going out at that time.
Room without a lock: The second family room which was given, never opened with the key. When asked, a person came to open the door and said, the lock wont work with the key given. And when asked for another key or room the response was "Some one will be here all the time if you want to close the door or open it". That tripped us up.
Room sharing??? : At mid nite some one knocked at our door claiming he has given one bed in the family room. I had to take that person to the reception to understand whats going on. The reception boy just vanished to the restricted room and was not having any sign of appearance. Forget about being apologetic, I was not even given any consideration of guest at the hotel and was treated like "if you want just stay or get out of this place"
I would never recommend this to hotel.

I had read good reviews of the Ginger and I thought, for my short stay in Delhi, to trust a chain would make sense... how wrong I was !!!
1. I booked on the website for the Ginger Hotel in Delhi near the train station. When I received my booking confirmation it actually had placed me at another Ginger Hotel in Delhi yes, but in the suburbs (Vivek Vihar one hour away from the station). First rip off. I was about to cancel my reservation and then I checked the location of the branch on the Ginger Website : it was far but 200m away from a metro station according to the map. I thought that it should still be ok.
2. I arrived in Delhi and went to the hotel. I looked for the metro station 200m away... and never found it. I thought I was becoming crazy but actually I wasn't. This is the first time I ever see that : the adress of the branch on the map of the website is right, BUT the actual location on the map is completely wrong. That branch was not within walking distance of the metro.
3. Horrible experience overall at the actual hotel : room walls were not clean at all and the staff definitely was not helpful.

I will never stay at Ginger's again, the faulty, dodgy and dishonest website is just too much for me.

For a hotel from the house of Tata's one expects much more. I was passing through Delhi and needed a room for a couple of hours to freshen up. Having stayed at a Ginger property earlier and after being bombarded with their email campaigns on "Day Use Rooms" I decided to check out this option that suited my purpose best.

On contacting their central reservations, I was directed to contact the actual property where the facility was to be used. After several phone calls and an email later, i did recieve a confirmation of room availability for day use. I was then redirected back to their central reservations, who insisted that i do the reservations with the Delhi hotel. Responses varied from "no room available" (I had email confirmation on room available) to "this has to be done by the property only"

After 2 days of follow up and several hundred Rupees spent in long distance calls, I finally gave up.

Possibly the hotel needs to train their reservations staff on the schemes they promote since I sensed a complete disconnect between the scheme and the information with their central reservations.

Also Ginger seems to want clientele who can plan maybe 15 - 30 days in advance only, so one needs to bear that in mind.

We booked Ginger Delhi for 2 days and left hotel with-in 2 hours of checking-in.

My expectations were not great. I was looking for "clean" with no frills accommodation. But the room was far from being clean.

There were bunch of long hairs on the floor. The hotel staff did not even check if the room was clean before handing over the room. When called housekeeping - they cleaned the room and only cleaned what we showed. After a second glance there were more bunch of hairs on the other side of the bed that the cleaner royally ignored.

The walls had shoe prints. May be that previous guests wanted to make their footprints before they left. But at least I expected housekeeping to clean those marks from the wall.

The quilt was almost black from one side and had couple of yellow spots all over. When called the housekeeping to change the covers - they came with two quilt covers - one was dirty and the other was less dirty. We asked him to change the less dirty one.

The hotel staff cared not to clean anything as they have enough guests who keep coming on the name of Ginger - The Taj Group.

The bathroom was clean - but there was no hot water. You can fall sick if you would take cold shower in winters. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom. We had to call thrice to get the toilet paper.

There was a very small window in the room and the room was damn compact. I would have appreciated if they could at least make a bigger window. That would have given the room a bigger look.

Stay there only when you have no option (or may be when you just have to spend few hours) and keep your expectations level for a usual Pahargunj hotel for which you would pay not more than Rs 1000.

We moved the same day to Quality Inn, Gurgaon and paid hefty amount for that hotel as it was the last minute booking but at least our stay was damn comfortable there.

When complained to Ginger customer service - we only got the regret letter for the inconvenience caused and there was no refund.

I would strongly advise to avoid this hotel. This is not the place where you can spend two days.
