I booked this hotel for my business stay on 16/06/2011. I have stayed at many hotel around India over the years at rich prices but at a reasonable price I stayed here.Welcome is very good and Room service is very fine. The behaviour of the room servicemen is also very quite. I liked that is in here. I must stay at this hotel in future.

The Room o fthe hotel is luxurious at that reasonable price like a five starb hotel although this Circular Hotel is marked as two Star. All the rooms of the hotel are Air-conditioned.

The Location of the Hotel is at central kolkata near about Sealdah Rail Station and Netaji subhas Chandra Bose International airport .

All the amenities like Resturant ,Internet, Car for airport Transportation are available here.Daily News paper is free.

The Luxurious Resturant of the hotel is is inside the hotel. The food is very Testy.
The full address of the hotel is 177/A Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose road,Kolkata-700017.Phone numbers are [--]

We stayed at the Hotel Circular for 2 nights as our first stop in India. The location was pretty good. After crossing the busy street we were able to walk to the sights, the Victoria Memorial, Sudder St., India Museum, etc... We ate at the restaurant several times because it was convenient, but realized as we traveled more in India that the prices were quite expensive. The room was pretty cool, retro, like going back in time. We had a little table/chair by the windows and the decor were very unique. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They let us check out late and helped us get taxis. However, be prepared to hand out many tips. Also, when you check out the hotel staff pops up from nowhere (even the cook) looking for tips. This was my first trip to India so I wasn't accustomed to the unabashed request for tips (especially coming from non-tipping China). I would recommend this hotel if you have to stop in Calcutta for a flight/train, but not as a destination.

Being a regular traveller to Kolkata, i've stayed at many different hotels before coming across Hotel Circular. Including this month's stay, i've stayed at this hotel 06 times or more. You need to ask for Rippon Street Crossing in order to locate this plc easily. The staff are very friendly and the food they serve to the room are pretty good too. The rates are low; well worth for the money. Not suitable for honeymooners but for any other, this place can be recommended.

I stayed at this Hotel from 25th Feb to 28th Feb, 2010. I was happy with my stay and the staff cooperative, helpful. Room service was good, prompt and quick. Room was neat and clean. Food was good too. Best is that hotel is very reasonable. Location is also good.

Stayed at H circular for 2 weeks a couple of years ago and enjoyed stay..this trip enjoyed it even more..New friendly and very smiley FEMALE team on reception make you feel relaxed and welcome as soon as you arrive. Room seemed more homely than before, (?new carpets etc) and overall standard seemed raised. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant serves nice fish masalas..but one or two of the waiters need to lighten up a little!

Hotel Circular is in a great location - on a major road - handy for taxis, and near Mother Theresa House which all the cabs know (well most of them..). However, easily within walking distance of Park st, Sudder st, New Market etc.

I would happily head straight back when next in Kolkata and needing a budget priced hotel.

I paid about 1,100 rupees a night for a tiny boxed room here... the sheets were clean here, and staff are friendly and helpful, but I'd say you really can get somewhere else for the same price that is a LOT nicer. Also the room had so many tiny cockroaches running around, which got in my bag and all my clothes! I wouldn't have minded if I was paying half the price!

I have seen real dumps in Calcutta, and this place is not that bad. I was relieved. The staff were really helpful (they want tips, but I didn't mind) and let me check in quite early for which I am grateful. The room was nothing special. There was a crack in the toilet when it flushed, flooding the floor, there were a few bugs, and the noise from outside required earplugs. BUT, if you have been on a budget in India and staying in dives, you will be happy with the place. If you are just off the plane you might not be quite so happy.

This hotel can be considered as cheap and best hotels of

Kolkata. Rates were around Rs.1500/- which is good for that location.

Blankets and pillows were clean. Surprisingly I couldn't find a single

cockroach in toilets and behind bed. Staffs were cooperative and

helpful. The restaurant of hotel is fairly good and served some of the

best Bengali dishes. AC was fine and room was quite good to stay in

budget.

The location of this place is very good. Within walking distance of some good sights, including the Mother House. The staff was very friendly - they opened the restaurant just for us so that we could eat before leaving for the airport and they flagged a cab down for us in the rain. One guy even ran to an outside restaurant to grab naan for us as the oven at the restaurant wasn't working (the times when it did operate were listed, so he could have easily told us that we were out of luck). So the people were really nice and made our stay comfortable.

The room on the other hand.... the good news is that the AC worked very well and we were comfortable. The bad news is that we had several cockroaches in our room and they just kept appearing. That was a little disconcerting. Our room faced the street so it was a bit noisy, but there's not much the hotel can do about that. The decor was outdated too - it was probably a cool place in the 70s.

Not sure I would stay again due to the bugs but the people working there are nice, so it may be worth a try if cockroaches don't give you the creepy crawlies. However, it looked nicer than most of the places I saw on Sudder Street so it's all about the budget.

This is a conveneintly located hotel with adequate rooms and a half decent restaurant downstairs. The rooms are reasonably well equiped for the price, there is a fair amount of outside noise as you are on the main road but all the main attractions / restaurants are within walking distance. The staff are frindly and helpful but dont let them try and charge you extra if you have already paid on line. show a copy of your booking and they back down staright away!

I had to go to Kolkata for some urgent work on a very short notice. Had called up my friend who made a reservation for me at this hotel (the only vacant one available in that area), just the last night.

As soon as I reached the hotel at my check in time, I was informed that the room is not yet ready and had to wait at the reception counter for over 45 mins. Post that, the hotel staff took me to my room and to my surprise, it was not yet cleaned!! They had just cleaned the bathroom and allotted the the room to me. Also, the single occupancy rooms are very small. All the above discouraged me to try the restaurant food and I preferred to go outside and have dinner.

Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, until this is the only option for you!!

The spin-doctors may tell you different but to my eyes Kolkata is hell on earth and the hotel circular fits right in to this description. According to the BBC there are 200 million slum dwellers in India and a lot of them live in Kolkata. Situated on one of the busiest streets the traffic noise was only just exceeded by the noise of the air conditioner. The room small and filthy, no hot water, unmatchable 12” TV and the pervading rancid smell from the black hole kitchen sick making. And expensive. Very bad value. Also beware. On line booking rate, if you have not already been put off by this review, 860 inr and if you front up unannounced 1,950 inr. Rip off?

We were two swedish girls on a backpackin-tour and we found hotel cirkular. Well, it's actually a nice hotel, with good beds (if you compare to our usual standard) and the staff were on the first meeting very nice and we felt very comfortable!

Well, don't ever, EVER trust somebody you don't know, Leslie one of the staff tricked us on money and we actually found out that somebody had stolen underwear from us... Well, it's Calcutta and it is budget, you get what you get and after all Cirkular was kind off nice, but we had some very bad experiences with the staff and became sick in the stomach from the food (but hey - that you'll get from everywhere in India).
