It felt that the every body in the hotel was there to care for you and your needs. Located in a prime location this hotel allows its guests to take a walk and do shopping or try various cusines available in the vicinity. The LAN cables within the room as well as the wi-fi was an available in the room which expedites the official work one has to do.
Food was good and the cook could tweak the preparations to suit our taste.
Good budget hotel to stay specially if on official trip

Bengal Inn is located in the Gulshan Area of Dhaka amidst tree lined quite streets. The business districts of Gulshan and Banani are in close proximity. The staff is extremely helpful, very courteous and extend service beyond expectation. The rooms are very slick, neat and comfortable.

I stayed in Bengal Inn for a couple of days last month. This is the second time I am staying in this hotel.
The hotel is a pretty much an average one. What works for it the best is that its a good value for money. Nothing extra-ordinary to boast of, it doesn't drill a hole in the pocket and provides most of the facilities. And in case you are not planning to spend a lot of time in the hotel, it works well.
The complimentary breakfast is good, though doesn't offer a lot of variety. The quality of food is also pretty much average. The location is near to a big market and is located near to one of the posh places in Dhaka.
The staff is pretty friendly and tries to help out in whatever way possible. The rooms are also spacious enough, but varies from one type to the other.

Calling this a boutique hotel is a stretch. It's pretty much just a regular hotel. I booked a pick-up at the airport from the hotel for a $10 charge and they forgot to pick me up. They did not pre-charge me. They offered to pay for the taxi but I did not get a receipt so they gave me a free ride back to the airport. The location was impossible for the driver to find as he kept stopping to ask directions. Its off on a small side street.

The hotel and room is very clean. The room however seems to be lost in the 1980's even though the hotel is only a few years old. The condition of the room is fine, just the design is bad. The bed is VERY firm. If you like that, fine. I don't though. They gave me a blanket to put under the sheet to soften it up.

There are a decent number of TV channels and there is a refrigerator you can keep stuff cold in. The free breakfast is a disaster though. It's hard to make bad scrambled eggs, but they did. I skipped the breakfast the other days. I did have dinner in the restaurant and it was good and priced very reasonably.

There is a free computer in the lobby you can use with a copy machine.

There is no pool and the so called gym is pretty useless. One treadmill I couldn't turn on and a stationery bike.

The best part of the stay though is how warm and friendly everyone was. Just fantastic. They arranged a city tour that only cost me $25.

The location is more upscale but still not much around in shopping and restaurants. I do admit I ate at the American A&W restaurant that is near the hotel. The Westin and it's $14 dinner buffet is only a 20 minute walk. Take a cab and it's about 15 minutes.

The Bengal Inn is not great, but you won't be sorry if you stay here. The best place to book this hotel cheap is asianreservations.net

It is not an Inn in the traditional sense - no oak beams, and certainly no beer on tap. But it does provide a quiet and comfortable retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of Gulshan 1. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the staff are friendly and it is close to shops and restaurants. It is around the middle of the range of guesthouses and boutique hotels in the area - pricier than the Chalet but considerably cheaper than the Lake Shore.

I booked this hotel over the telephone and confirmed via e-mail. unfortunately I was not made aware that NO guests are allowed into your room ! So, no possibility of private meetings as they wish to conduct such affairs in their "business" area (completely open to public access and had to be booked in advance-so, no chance of an impromptu confidential meeting ) All the Manager(s) were at a loss in dealing with anything that involves "thinking up a solution! For what they provide it is overpriced and totally inflexible! Do yourself a big favor and find somewhere else to stay!
